This videos should be released more often... I bought Heroquest at the end of November 2023, got the Mega set of Speedpaints at the start of December. As a total beginner I started painting the forniture, mummies, skeletons, heroes, etc. and I finished the day you released the skeletons painting video :) after that I finished my Descent 1st edition, Jaws of the Lion and in this week I'll start with Imperial Assault :) thx for motivating me and introducing this beautiful hobby! It's cheap and lots of fun and zen moments :)
@@MidwinterMinisSo, you are on a list of content creators compiled with the purpose of cancelling people. The list states that you believe that players that play as Germany in board games are actual Nazis. Is this true?
I'm totally loving (and totally needing) this Heroquest series! PLEASE continue with this! And, if you can, make all the other miniatures!!! Fantastic job! Greetings from Venezuela!
Thank you for straightforward, effective ways to get bare plastic minis painted up for these tabletop games. It always feels daunting when you have a whole game board of minis you want to paint up but as mentioned in the video it makes such a difference when you are playing.
That is a really nice dark menacing armour you made there, and I think I know just which mini I'm going to try it on. Also don't forget to touch up the base rims when speckling paint.
I’ve been loving these videos and following along (slowly) with my set. I’m very keen to see what palette you use with the heroes, as I kind of like the idea of making my baddies in a red theme, but I’m keen to see if that would work with how you do your heroes. Keep ‘em coming please!
Another fantasy chaos warrior model painted❤. While your 40k preference is pretty clear i am happy you still do the occasional fantasy/aos model. (Like the skaven from a month ago)
Looking good, I like the armour, I went the other way painting the metallics first then darkening with a wash, your way is much cleaner. With mine I gave each warrior a different colour cape, just so it’s easier at a glance to see which ones have already taken an action or have already been wounded during gameplay.
And it's done ! I just finished the last dread warrior ! Thank you, it looks amazing ! The way you explain things makes each step really easy to follow : it's a few paints, some techniques and it's really fun. I added a little spot of red in the eyes to make them more evil ^^ (The cape was reeeeaaaaaaly difficult to paint btw ! O.O)
I love your simple videos. While I skew a little brighter in my palette (must re watch those demons videos), it’s great to watch how simple techniques can bring a cohesive vision to the table. I particularly liked some of the blood work.
Back in the ‘80’s, when I was in high school, I had the original version of this game. I also had TRC (Total Control Racing), a couple Bubba Fett action figures and even a slave Princess Leia. Now I’m left thinking - Goddamn it, if I’d only held on to them.
I know it's not necessarily about this video, but I loved your Eldar speed paint video and I'm going to use thst Pearl effect for my Void Dragon whenever I finally get him lol
I used to think I was cool, then I started writing a comment about the spec of red paint on the black rim... gonna go and reassess myself. Great video as always ❤
I had Hero Quest, Talisman, Space Hulk, Dark Future and Blood Bowl, I put it all in storage when I moved and unfortunately it was all lost when the roof leaked and flooded the room, I have a handful of miniatures left and all the original D&D box sets survived unscathed.
Look at mah boi 5:28 hunching in anger with a clenched fist the size of his head... the new models for Hero Quest look good, no doubt - but as soon as you see them side by side with the old models they stand no chance.
i have a original hero quest found unused at a pile for the trashdumpster it was even in its original plastic wrap and i have one from the fleemarktet for 2 euros i cant get over me to paint them if i had the new version i would paint them the old figures are to nostalgic for me to paint them
Loving the videos. Grew up playing the original HQ with my brother and been doing the same with the re-release. Quick question, I have black templar contrast paint. Could I use that in the first step instead of doing the black wash combo over a grey primer?
th-cam.com/video/k0dQEhwjrtk/w-d-xo.html missed opportunity, "Focussing on the Head, and shoulders, avoiding the knees and toes" :D Great as always Guy! Looking forward to when Hattie and yourself get back to big papa Nurgle-y boy!
Awesome video as always, i have 1 question tho. Is the start collecting Death match going to be continued? it is probably one of my favorite series on the channel
Hey! I recognize that 80's chaos warrior! That's Deathbringer! :P If you haven't, check out Dungeoncraft. It's a pretty cool channel that focuses on old school, homebrewed D&D. He even has some crafting and painting videos.
Looked it up, England can often see humidity of almost 80% while my region of the Norther United States is usually under 60%. Except for heavy coats in deep recesses, shades dry quite fast here.
An amazing video, DredKnights are so cool. So I’ve seen your instagram stories and I really want to know what some of these people find woke about you painting a bunch of knights. Like are they on hallucinogens? Not a single time did I think “that’s kinda woke” because you were telling me HOW TO PAINT A DREDKNIGHT. I don’t get it.
Can someone please put a video out about what " broken" and "blanced" means and why GW has such h a hard time doing that? Why is it so hard to put out a balanced game w/no need for updates and additions and editions!?!? Please, can someone explain thoroughly!?
I’m loving these hero quest videos really reminds me of the black stone fortress vids
That's the vibe I'm going for! OG MWM ;)
its like a fresh hit of nostalgia..... just me?
idk if its just nostalgia i prefer the vibe of the older videos
Love that this doesn't need 47 colors to make it look good
Thanks bud! Glad you like the stripped back approach :)

That's awesome! We'll get to then soon
The old hero quest models are so iconic
Absolutely!

I was wondering when the next one of these would come out! So glad to see the series continue and grow
Oh lord, they comin
These Dark Knights look super cool. Thank you for returning to this OG style video format it is enjoyable watching. Nice video. Keep up the good work.
I am always impressed by how easy and fun painting can be with your instructions. The minis look great!
Thanks so much 😊
Your take on these old-school minis is excellent. Thanks for the upload!
Love this series. Hope you keep going with the expansions.

Gotta love an ancestral portrait by the fire
2:41 when you said "head and shoulders," I was so hoping you were going say "knees and toes" as well.
Another great video. Thank you. Picking my last few paints up tomorrow then starting on the furniture. Keep up the amazing work.

Yessssssss Guy, give innnnnnn.... The Old World beckons !
Why do these knight models look so good
Great video. I'm playing a game this Friday and it's making me want to get some painting done in advance!

I just picked up Hero's Quest these are some great paint ideas for them

Thank you ! This series is SO helpful to paint my first minis. I was desperately waiting for the next part to continue painting ! 🙏🙏🙏

Excellent video. Love it 🫶🤘
Wooooo! More heroquest!! ❤
This could be used for the slaves to darkness for AOS since most of the steps apply to the armored units

Could you do the Descent journeys in the dark minis, once youre done with Hero Quest?
New Hero Quest video, hooray!
Really cool. 👍
Look at mah boi 5:28 hunching in anger with a clenched fist the size of his head... the new models for Hero Quest look good, no doubt - but as soon as you see them side by side with the old models they stand no chance.
Introduced some new paints for this one, then? Thank you for the video, now I can continue with my own minis. They look great.
Just getting ready to paint my mini & follow your tutorials ... did you never do the bosses & heroes?
Good stuff! Thanks
Still waiting on the finish up!

Id love to see guy try painting the minis from the dark souls board game!!
i don't think you talked about it in one of the previous video, but would you advise for a coat of varnish? They will be used as game piece after all.
Awesome video as always, i have 1 question tho. Is the start collecting Death match going to be continued? it is probably one of my favorite series on the channel
Always crank the volume for the outro!
@MidwinterMinis, have u done chariots or big beasts?
Will there be a game/battle report with these once you're done?

Hey guy, when do we get the next Astartes Archive vid?
Do the dread sorcerer next make him look like a dnd litch with a purple robe and some grime
It's interesting, all the English painters seem to suggest taking longer for shades to dry...humidity?
Looked it up, England can often see humidity of almost 80% while my region of the Norther United States is usually under 60%. Except for heavy coats in deep recesses, shades dry quite fast here.
Just realised we haven’t got a how to paint the hero’s yet 👀

Do you have a cold, Guy?
Yeah, getting over one! I always have something with the twins around ;)

I would make the chaos warrior the leader of the group
I'm on my third watch through to find the "woke". Still nothing. Great video by the way.
Why are people calling it woke!?
@@stonkotron319 When I work it out I'll let you know 😁
I believe its because of the 40k youtube list on reddit, where its graded the youtubers based on if they are woke or anti woke

Very almost

I know I'm long in the tooth. But man I so much prefer the old models - they just have so much more charm.
