  • What have our progressive councillors achieved over the last couple of years? What were the blocks and failures? What's with the targeting of the city council by the Post and by central government? Why does the regional council appear to work successfully under the media radar? And just what should local government be doing anyway?
Thomas Nash is chair of the Transport Committee for the Greater Wellington Regional Council - and a member of the Greens.
Fleur Fizsimons (Labour) is a former city councillor and currently assistant secretary of the Public Service Association
Joel MacManus is the Wellington editor for Spinoff and writer of such pieces as The Mystery of the Killer Bike Lane, and Can We Finally Just Get on With the Golden Mile.
Chair Ollie Neas is a barrister and a freelance journalist who wrote a series for Spinoff about the council vote for selling the airport shares.

The Labour government committed $82 million to safety improvements along the highway between Bell Block and Waitara, including a number of roundabouts.
Since the speed limit reduction, a Fire and Emergency New Zealand report showed there had been a 56% decrease in serious crashes, while minor crahses were down 44% and non-injury crashes were down 40%.
There was no change to fatality rates, with two deaths reported after the reduction.

Wow.... that's exploitation.😢 Thanks to 'be rich like me I'm John key . " Housing should be a need not a luxury. Leaders aren't like they used to be. Greed over people, is their misconduct

    Everybody's good at cooking something.
    And Wellington's good at crumble.
In fact, I've got one in the oven.
    Would you like some?

A bit of bureaucracy, a bit of crumbling infrastructure.
