It's what makes ranged top so bad overall because they can't all in like a top laner can. A patient top laner will almost always wreck an ADC top. It just takes patience and endurance. Rarely do i lose top vs an ADC. Just gotta be smart and patient and then all in like he said.

Hey there, I was wondering, would you try a special loadout for gwen? It consists of the same items, but with phase rush, sudden impact, perseverance and transcendence. I mainly play this in the jungle, but it was a bit more intended for top, since phase rush helps me escape the enemy if they slow me or stun me, without relying so much on the ghost spell.

I use Garen mostly as a turret buster, if I know that my team is losing a clash I always find the opening to push to the enemy nexus while they are distracted.
This is why I love playing top. I had a game where we were losing very badly. I noticed my team trying to fight for elder. I simply pushed top lane to their nexus, and by the time they backported, I already destroyed their nexus.
same, I always have triforce and youmuu as my core items for a mobile turret buster garen. The sheen proc and movement speed enables you to switch lanes, quickly get a tower, and escape ambushes
currently watching the build part, I realise I've never actually gone tank garen and I've always built ad garen, I even go for yommous ghostblade early on when I'm mostly fighting a squishy comp
