    I’ve been SOBBING for the past hour because my new Arcadia bulb wasn’t working and the pet store is closed and I have a new baby bearded dragon.. it was literally just the tab that needed to be pulled up. THANK YOU SO MUCH for making this video.

    Make sure you unplug the lamp, but here is an extra pro tip, lol... There is a hole underneath the tab that you can get access to, by unscrewing the top ceramic piece, be sure to pull the black wire washer around the cord first, so you don't twist the wires off, but you can gently probe a paper clip down the hole, pushing the tab up. Also, if the metal is looking a bit dark/discolored on the tab, a bit of steel wool being scrubbed with a pencil's eraser will clean it up. Don't scrub too hard, the surface needs to remain smooth.

      Hi, can you explain how to unscrew the ceramic top? I really need to know how to, because i only need the reflecter piece (dome itself) for another type of cable...

    • @brandonspicer6598
      @brandonspicer6598 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sure. The ceramic top, where the cord enters the fixture, unscrews counterclockwise. There is usually a black plastic cord-spacer-thing that you need to pop out first, which keeps the cord from twisting in the fixture, some do, some don't, or they fall out, but you'll need to pop that up the cord before twisting, or you'll rip the wires out. It helps to put your other hand on the inside, gripping the area the bulb goes in, and turn the opposite direction. The dome is sandwiched in-between the two ceramic pieces... Some of them can get a bit stuck, or even glued, so try at your own risk, use your gut. I'm sure a bit of lubricant would help if it's really stuck. Oh, and also... Make sure the cord is loose, not tangled up, so it's always relaxed. Once it's loose, it should not be hard to turn. If it feels like the cord is twisting apart, it is, lol...

    I've bought 3 Thrive desert heat bulbs and none have worked for my one leopard gecko tank one stayed for about a week, maybe two, but the other two have lasted a few days at most. I've even changed my dome. My other gecko is having no problem with her heat lamp and I've had hers for about a month now. I've only had my geckos for a month so I'm not very experienced with heat lamps or anything like that. Is there any way you could you help me figure out what I'm doing wrong?

    • @TyeDyedIguana
      @TyeDyedIguana  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thrive is a PetSmart exclusive brand, so it's not a brand we're familiar with. We carry Zoo Med, Exo Terra, and Zilla here. First, make sure the bulb isn't located anywhere that it might get bumped, shaken, or touched. Bulbs can be sensitive to being moved frequently. It is possible that they've had a bad batch of bulbs and you're running through them right now. It happens occasionally. You could try changing brands to see if that helps. My only other suggestions would be to plug it in to another outlet in case there's some sort of electrical issue.

    I checked my heat lamp for this cause none of them work, including brand new ones, but I don’t think it’s the problem so I have no idea what’s happening because I checked everything is plugged in as well

      @@Abowns56 Then we would try a new fixture if nothing else has worked. The light fixtures themselves are pretty simple, but all it takes is a little faulty wiring and they'll fail to work.

    Just looked inside my zoo med dual dome, sure enough both tabs were closed down. Hopefully this falls within the 9/10 success rate, been burning through bulbs in short time spans.
