- We've been working on new DIY Projects for our Patio Makeover, and we did it all on a SMALL BUDGET! I'm sharing our Patio Pavers clean-up, DIY Patio Lighting, Decorating Ideas, and the BEST Outdoor Furniture that will stand the test of time. Hi, there...... just a few gardening tips: : ) When you take your flowers out of the plastic packages, turn them upside down first and tap the bottom of the package gently. Sometimes, that will ease them out naturally, which will not put the small plant/ flower in to shock. You can also take the side of your trowel and tap the side of the package to loosen the soil to allow them to come out on their own. Also, it's good not to crumble the sides of the soil on each plant, but leave it intact and dig a bit larger hole, then pat them down/ press them in. My main tip is to not pull the flower or plant from the top ( out of the package )...... let it ease out on its own. That will keep the roots in tact and not stress the "neck" or flowers of the plant. I always soak them gently after planting and then mist them, too. : )

I enjoy pulling weeds. I feel about weeds as you do about power washing! I enjoy power washing videos for the same reason, too!
It’s definitely satisfying, but I have too many horrible memories attached 😅
To keep the weeds from growing back up through the cracks of your patio, buy some 30-40% white vinegar and spray the cracks and the weeds. You cannot use regular household vinegar, as itbis not strong enough. Thisnis what I use along our walkways and in the gardens and works beautifully at keeping the weeds down and is organic. Great video and transformation!

Very pretty. 😊. A tip for weeds between pavers-pour cheap salt between and sweep it in. Zero weeds.

I love power washing. Everything is so clean afterwards. It is very rewarding. Powerwash the house and patio every yr.

I don't enjoy weeding but I do enjoy getting rid of the buggers especially when I have the right tools to make quick work of it. I do hate it when it seems like I've gotten them all and I look up and see there's still more I missed! But when it's done it's really satisfying until the next time.
That same thing happens to me sometimes & it is so annoying lol 😂 nothing worse than thinking you’re done & turning around to see some you missed!
I like power washing our deck, sidewalk and steps. I feel like we've actually accomplished something when it's done. Satisfaction. Make over is fabulous!

I’m overwhelmed by it most days ❤️ it wasn’t that long ago I was feeling like this could never be my life. I’m still in awe that I get to raise such fantastic children, in a home with my husband, doing a job that I love. Grateful for every second of it, even the seconds when we struggle.
Husband is so great for helping. Y’all are a very sweet couple. DIY looks great. Love the backyard overall. I’m an outdoor person in the summertime also. Flowers look great, and also the lights look beautiful.

Looks nice, neat and clean. Maybe the plants would perk up when the sun goes down, it is recommended to repot plants late in the evening. Is there something you can hang on the wall behind the dining table? A piece of outdoor art?
They have perked up quite a bit! I’m thinking about going to hobby lobby to see what kind of diy options they have for wall hangings 🤗
Love gardening of any kind. Being outdoors is so peaceful for me. ♥ I am a neat freak so I stay on top of it. Turned out great! Tip for the hubbie or yourself, weed killer ( they make safe for animals and children, spray and let it sit and the power washer would have gotten ride of it.
We used weed killer in our front porch makeover & got ripped apart for it, so we haven’t been showing that in any other videos. 🙈

Just lovely and don't worry about the plants. Planting them is always a bit traumatic. With some sun and water, they should perk right up. I hope you guys enjoy your new patio set up!

I don’t mind pulling weeds too much, but generally do it after a rain, which is kind of neat, because after years of doing that way, I read in the farmers almanac, that when they called for easiest weed removal days, it seemed to always follow a good rain.
My favorite outdoor chores are mowing and power washing 😊

We used some of our leftover gravel around our central heat& air to help keep the grass from growing so close to the unit, plus we rescue dogs and cats, so we’ll use gravel on the outside of kennels if them little darlings find a way to start digging. It keeps them from completely under. Thank God! I’m getting too old to be running up and down the road chasing a dog 😂
You might just need to feed your plants.
That makes sense because the ground is probably softer after a good rain!

It looks great, Megan!! Thank you for showing a night view, I was really hoping for it. I think the arrangement is so perfect for being able to watch the kids while the adults chill. You've definitely maximized the available space and I'm glad to see the fridge still going strong. Now, enjoy your throne (totally jelous of the egg chair.) You deserve a rest.
That’s what I was going for! Now that we have use of the full yard again, and the girls have such a large play space, I wanted to make sure we could see them even when relaxing or entertaining. 😊

Maybe I am weird but I do not mind weeding. When my children were younger it was my me time. It was just a quite time for me to unwind. I can say now that I am older it is not as easy but I still don’t mind it because it makes the area so much prettier. Your backyard looks awesome.
My kids don’t mind it either, Kinsley especially thinks it’s relaxing 😊

I love weeding it's so satisfying to me, and growing up on a strawberry farm weeding was a daily task, so it takes me back to childhood.
It definitely is satisfying, but I wouldn’t say I love it 😅
Use gallon of white vinegar cup of salt 2 tablespoons of liquid detergent. Sprayer of your choice. Soap helps the solution stick and weeds hate salt.

Y’all should put some of the left over rocks under the play house where there were old gallon jugs and stuff or under the swing set so ruts aren’t made under each swing.
We aren’t going to put anything under there because we will have the tear the playhouse down at the end of the summer

Hello, love it! The make over is fabulous. To get rid of the weeds, just spray vinegar on them. It’s better than using insecticide.

Megan, what a great makeover! It’s nice to have that area to hang out and relax, and forget about those kitchen issues! I will be trying the diy you did. I hate weeding too, especially the first one of the season. After that it’s easier to keep up with. I am also a huge fan of the power washer! I’ll start by washing the car. Then rinsing off the driveway, and sidewalk after mowing. Then, I’ll do the front porch and walkway. Then I notice the windows need a rinse…A 20 min chore turns into a 2 hr spray-a-thon! I love watching the dirt disappear like magic!
Sounds like my husband! He works the same way, the first task is always a domino!
We’ve been doing all of this trying to forget about the kitchen too 😅 but our flooring was just delivered so we’re in the home stretch!

About the red rocks, you could them inside things to make them heavy & use them for different DIY'S to have something that's stationery etc. Just one idea! Great job! Thanks for sharing. I love your patio. The neutral colors are gorgeous. You never disappoint. So I have to say I'm one of those crazy people that likes to pull weeds lol. We have a gardner but I still go out and pull them. You both did such an amazing job. Your outdoor fridge has held up so good. I remember when you first put that out. Thank you for sharing 😊

Power washing is Magic!! Can you weed whack on the patio or will that destroy the pavers? Patio looks so inviting Megan - I could see having morning coffee out there or some iced tea in the evening!! Great Job!
We can’t use the weed whacker in between the pavers, but we do use it around the edges.

i think the dining area next to the door makes more sense if you're bringing food outside.
as for the leftover red rocks, how about lining the fence with them. with as many as you've got, you might be able to make a good 8'' border around it.
actually, the hose in the basket looks awesome. it's well concealed and it blends in perfectly with the whole theme!

Always agree with you Megan, with the power washer I wish I had one of my own to use I got to look into one but then again I have friends who do it for a living and can just have them clean lol. But everything looks great! Always enjoy the before and afters for sure! And picking the weeds out I hate doing them too but my mom does and she just does what like you do just rip them right on out and start in one area and go from there. It's a lot easier to weed when they are small. I see the weeding the same as you see the power washing. Instant transformation.
I feel the opposite, it’s easier to grip the bigger weeds. I have to take my gloves off sometimes to get the small ones
Thanks for the out door videos. If the weeds are bad and we are going to power wash I use the power wash to help them come out easily. Your set up looks inviting.
That was the goal! We want to do a lot of outdoor entertaining this year, so we wanted a welcoming vibe 🤗
We are just the opposite. Purchased a $400 Honda power washer. Used it 3 times. Motor cracked. By the then we had had it a year so. Trash. Purchased a sun joe. Have used innumerable times over the last 5 years. Still going strong. Have a brick house that lives moss and green mold. Pressure washing all the time. And seems to be just as strong as the Honda. Love sun joe products. Their little tiller is awesome too.
Ours is the Craftsman brand and we’ve never had an issue. We didn’t purchase the extended 5 year warranty though. The Amazon one was junk for us, broke after 2 uses & was never as powerful as our Craftsman.

You could have just used the power washer to get the weeds up. Change the tip to a more narrow steam and it digs right in.😊

You need a new stair tread on the middle step, it is bowed and can break..you are right the pressure washer does look so satisfying.. water them they will perk up ..
