Juneteenth was a chill day. My husband was enjoying his day off hanging out with his brother. You just never know when something may happen and you have to use quick thinking and sound judgment. @@KelzBernardThats exactly what he needs asap especially after this incident & I'll be honest I'm not a fan of the US army & its wars since vietnam war with civilian death toll since Vietnam war in the millions & ain't even going to mention the police in this situation because this young brother Was choosen by the Lord most high to preserve life before they police proberly got n wind of it & itɓs wars by that I mean the Politics, politician's the high archy ,I don't mean individual soilder that joined the army with good intention & reasons to help like this brother because war is war mentally & physically no matter what side ones on because joining the army is to do exactly what he did in that situation he stayed calm reassured the child & stood on all 10 when it came to protecting his family ,neighbourhood & peoples also but it's the extra lengths he took by preserving like with no intention of emptying a Clip into another person aslong as he stayed back & bay & eventually listened then walked away , how many times have we seen someone in his position just start pulling the trigger illegally or legally in alot of US states but further more if it Was police I'd say over half wouldn't of asked questions they would of ordered forensic the body bag & morgue van & a whole neighbourhood of kids & parents traumatised by witnessing it . But the point of this comment & story is get him help he needs for his & family sake he earnt it just by joining the army to begin with he deserves it . Around the Western world when a soilder retires or is hurt if he doesn't have family he falls threw the cracks young & old soilders the stat's are a eye opener on the % of suicides & murders ex soilders have committed and its always a loved one hurt for some reason .

It was very gracious of you to show compassion to that man having a breakdown, but I also very much appreciate how you handled the situation and protected that little girl. You helped that baby and I hope you get the help you need and deserve for your trauma! Thank you for your service. I hope this goes viral and you're pulled to the front of the line with veteran's services, and everything you and your family needs is taken care of. I also hope that guy with the knife is arrested and prosecuted. He can be sentenced to a stay in a mental institution if they determine he's crazy. But mental breakdown or not, he does NOT need to be on the streets because he's going to do that again. Will there be a hero willing to cock that thang back and let it loose if necessary next time??? I don't want to have to find out! The safest thing for your community is an arrest, no bond, a hearing, a conviction and have him put where the community is safe. That little girl is alive because of you and your wife! Thank you and thank your lovely wife for what you both did that day! May God's peace, grace, mercy and blessings be with you and your family!!!

I'd also like I thank you for your service Sir. My father was a veteran. We lost him July 6th of last year due to agent orange exposure in Vietnam.
My father fought the VA for many years, on behalf of himself and other veterans. I can hear him in my ear right now...
Willow, tell him to call his congressman and to keep calling. Then there is email, keep emailing. If need be you go down to their office and you wait to speak to them, no matter how long it takes. Make your face known to them till they get it done! Make them make it right for you. In doing so, it will also help to make it right for other veterans too.
Congresswomen Olympia Snow of Maine got to know my father well over the years. She also learned first hand just how tenacious he was as an advocate for all Veterans.

The act itself was incredibly brave, the understanding of someone who needed medical help instead of violence is even braver. It's so so important to our continued survival and peace to train ourselves to greet each situation with compassion even in times of high stress. With your PTSD, every part of your brain was probably telling you to react immediately and you fought through all of those impulses to do the right thing. That is unimaginable for most people. I hope you take all the time you need and get all that you need

So thankful for this update. Hearing that the other individual was experiencing a mental break makes sense, as it sounded like he was asking you “are you safe?” In the video. In his state of mind, he was maybe trying to determine if you were a safe person within his delusions. I am so glad you spoke to him calmly and answered him rather than yelling or belittling his actions or questions. That may have been what deescalated things. To hear that you have a ptsd diagnosis yourself and still were able to stay calm and handle that so nicely is amazing. I’m so proud of you and happy for everyone involved. It’s wonderful to hear you recognizing all sides of this. I’m so thankful that everyone is safe and that you didn’t have to use your firearm and have the aftermath of that to deal with emotionally, no matter how necessary, I know it’s never the desired end result. I’m just really proud of you and proud of your family for staying calm and knowing when to trust and let you handle things- so many other choices could have been made here and everyone (including the children!) did so well!!!

He didn't survive. It breaks me still. These thing are handed to us for a reason. Glad you were there for her, and you knew your goal, and took the proper steps to achieve that goal.
