I had once the same car which had a petrol engine. As the boot is markedf by '200' without a 'D' following the number, the presented car should have also what the Germans call a 4 cylinder 'Ottomotor' (gasoline engine). Too bad that motor is not shown as well as the opened up boot to give an impressiion of its size. This Mercedes really was a nice car to drive, it had more leg room for back seat passengers than does my current W201 (190E) and was at his time the most popuilar taxi car in Germany with the exactly same kind of beige body colour.
i even though that the w114 was the litle and the w115 the big one as in the diesel w123 the 200 and the 240 are smaller than the 300D while the gasoline version of it ,bought in the nederlands or holand was 3 doors but smaller with the 230 engine, this in the 80´s
i have a doubt that no one told me why is that so ,there a large and a litle smaller body in this model as in the w123, i owned a 200D ,smaler than the 300d and a c123 also smaler but later i bought a american one with diesel engine and it was bigger ,the bigger one i´m 1,81 meter and have dificulties in reaching the other door and the smaller i don´t have todo nothing just strech myself and unlock the door ,while the other i had to put in neutral (manual) take of the security belt ,put the foot brake down ,so i can take from the midle pedal my foot and with dificulties unlock the door ,also the tailgate to get something from a place near the back seats i have to enter the car trunk
mine was blue inside and metalized red outside with 220D engine and sun roof ,looked psychedelic and it was my first car after taking the driver´s permit, had to sell it because at the time didn´t had where to store it, just remenber it now ,i trade it for a bmw 2002 from 75 the mercedes was a 74, both at the time had new models being sold at the same time, i trade it because i had already bought a bmw like the one i trade but light metalized blue, the one i bought was light metalized green , this was after a revolution in my country, from a violent dictatorship to a democracy, sorry if my english is confusing, not my first language, regards
for the ones who want one ,i have one that all outside features were stolen it´s white , blue windows ,red leather seats in perfect condition still as is bumpers ,now inside the car and it works, gasoline one kind of the luxury version of the w115 in 74 or 5
@@vincentsebina7182 no,it´s in portugal but it´s easier to buy in portugal than to buy in any other country to legelize in portugal, the laws change for us and it´s very expensive to go abroad and buy an old car but the reverse is simple i have a friend from holland that bought a VW EOS (passat 2.0 tdi) with panoramic roof and convertible that he bought from an english woman very cheap and he´s gonna drive it to holland and legalise it there ,because in portugal would be expensive and you pay the same taxes has if you´re buying a new car, some years ago i used to go to holland or germany to buy sportive cars and legalise them here in portugal, now it´s impossible, regards
Just checked and this steering wheel was fitted from 1975, it really spoil the look I much prefer the earlier models with the steel horn ring. I suppose that's health and safety in its infancy
Running costs, a radio, doesn't matter as much if it gets kerbed or scuffed by a twat with a trolley, etc. I only buy older cars, and would never dream of buying new, but I can see that this and a new A class fill different needs.
@@TakeMeOffYourMailingList the need to keep yourself alive,a A model wouldn´t resist a front colision at 100km/h and the old would ,well the engine and front of the car would disappear but the rest would look untouched ,even at 290 km/h a friend crash into an old wall 2 meter large of stone and clay with a 230clk coupé ,and he has a problem in one bone that atatches his hand to his arm but just that all fingers move perfect,he said that before crashing he tried to breake but only to 250km/h
automatic gear box isn´t good for this kind of car ,maybe for old people or with disabilities in arms or legs, in my country only now they started to sale some cars with automatic gear box ,and lot of crashes happened due to that, people are not familiar with automatic cars, it´s a matter of safety ,regards
there were limousines from this series and the previous ones , i tried a 240D it was incredible slow ,but with the 230 engine it would be faster, maybe they did but i never saw one ,regards
When Mercedes-Benz still stood for quality...
Yep. This model is basically a civilised tank.
Wow! so good to see this after so so long. I wish I could find one in India.
Thank you for your comment!
Beautiful Automobile, I’d like one like that in my car collection.
Great choice!
Gorgeous. You should produce a series of films on the process of restoration. For us DIY guys.
We don't restore car's we just bring great cars to market for all to see!
I like your video's but why do you never show the boot or engine bay?

A stunner even by today's standards !

Wow... so this was driven, on average, 727 kms per year since new. Insane!
Yes very low mileage!
i owned one that for several years almost everyweek drove 7.500km´s no internet for the public at the time, documents needed to be deliverd and signed

Looks good in non metallic white with the blue interior (a colour that seems rare for interiors these days, unfortunately).

Video doesn’t quite capture the distinctive sound of a Mercedes’s door closing.

you say that is the number of cylinders but in diesel version that doesn´t match,
