Australian S.A.S.R. & the Tizak operation | June 2010

  • In June 2010, an Australian Special Operations Task Group, composed of detachments from the Special Air Service Regiment (S.A.S.R.) and the 2 Commando Regiment, launched an operation into the Shah Wali Kot Valley, in Southern Afghanistan, to disrupt enemy activity in the region. In today's video I detail one aspect of that operation, which involved an air insertion into the village of Tizak by members of the Australian S.A.S.R. and saw the awarding of a Victoria Cross Medal.

    I've met seals, raiders, Nightstalkers, green berets etc.. but God damn if the scariest motherfuckers I've ever met weren't those Aussie SAS dudes. I have respect for all special ops and all veterans, and much love for them all. But these guys, they are fucking terrifying. No remorse, no mercy, no second guessing. Pure warfighters.

      AND WHO ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO BE BEN SMITH ACTUALLY WAS NOT PART OF THE AUSSIE S.A.S. THAT LONG HE ALSO WAS A PART OF 1 SQUADRON BRITISH S.A.S. WHO HIS TEAMATES HATED BECAUSE HE KILLED INNOCENT CIVILIANS FOR ABSOLUTELY 💯 NOTHING: THERE ARE EVEN PICTURES OF HIM TAKING WAR TROPHIE PHOTOS OF KILLING AN INNOCENT MAN AND DRINKING BEER OUT OF HIS PROSTHETIC LEG 🦵 AND GIGGLING ABOUT IT. SO, IF YOU WANT TO USE THE LORD'S NAME IN VAIN TO MAKE AN IDOL OF SOMEONE YO I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THEN GO AHEAD. BUT YOU BETTER NO WHAT THE FACTS ARE BEFORE YOU START FLAPPING YOUR GUMS JACK.
      HE EVEN WROTE LETTERS TO THE TEAMATES THAT, WERE GOING TO TELL ABOUT HIS WAR CRIMES AND, TOLD THEM HE WAS GOING TO KILL THEM. +++ HAD SOMEONE POST THEM FROM AN UNKNOWN MAILBOX AND WROTE THE LETTERS WITH RUBBER GLOVES. HE WAS ABSOLUTELY 💯 HUMILATED AT THE END BECAUSE HE STOOD TRIAL FOR THESE WAR CRIMES. AND LUKY FOR HIM HE KNEW AN EXTMLY WEALTHY BILLIONAIRE WHO HIRED A LAWYER FOR HIM AND GOT HIM OUT OF BEING LOCKED UP FOR LIFE IN JAIL.
      HE WAS, KICKED OUT OF THE S.A.S.
      IT TAKES MORE COURAGE SOMETIMES NOT TO KILL EVERYTHING AND EVERYBODY YOU SEE, JUST TO HAVE A SUCCESSFUL MISSION. INSTEAD OF WORKING WITH TRUE WARRIORS FOR HEAVENLY FATHER LORD ALMIGHTY!
      WHO ARE NOT AFRAID OF UNARMED MEN AND WILL GO TO THE 2 WAY STEEL RANGE AND GET HURT TO NOT KILL INNOSENCE IF NEED BE. +++ .

      Peter McCombie The presumption of innocence until proven guilty beyond all reasonable doubt is the bedrock of Western justice. Western journalists would do well to not undermine it. There are however a small handful of other men in 3SQN SASR who are evidently guilty with one extra-judicial killing captured on an SASR Operator’s helmet cam in 2012 being shown on 4 Corners, available on TH-cam. It’s undeniable and should bring in to question an element of leadership within 3SQN. Soldier “A” for example was shown clearly losing the plot while on operations in some of the footage showing an unacceptable lack of fire discipline and failure to listen and cooperate with his team. During review of the footage of operations involving him he clearly should have been pulled off duty and undergone a psychological assessment back in barracks.

  • @peterhoughton3094
    @peterhoughton3094 4 ปีที่แล้ว +90

    Well done mate, good run down on the operation and not well known. Australian actions around Tarin Kowt were outstanding and were the model for Special OPS in Afghanistan. When the handover happened to the Americans they couldn't believe the intelligence that had been gathered, how accurate it was and how comprehensive. The primary role of Aus Sf is long range reconnaissance. Good operations are based on accurate intelligence. Most countries have blokes who can kick down doors and pull the trigger but Aus Sf has always focused on the reconnaissance role. It pays off with element of surprise and accurate targeting and focuses heavily on hearts and minds, turning the local area into a nightmare for the taliban. A study of Australian operations in Vietnam and British commonwealth operations during the Malayan emergency should be more widely studied in military academies around the world.... because they were successful. Local areas were pacified and the locals ended up getting the picture and working for us. Painstaking, laborious, but successful. Both in Iraq and Afghanistan these lessons have not been learned, with predictable results.

      while the australian squads and platoons performed very well with small unit tactics in Vietnam, your overall assessment is just plain wrong.
      " the operational strategy used by the Australian Army in Vietnam was not successful. Palazzo believes that like the Americans, Australian strategy was focused on seeking to engage the Communist forces in battle and ultimately failed as the Communists were generally able to evade Australian forces when conditions were not favourable. Moreover, the Australians did not devote sufficient resources to disrupting the logistical infrastructure which supported the Communist forces in Phước Tuy Province and popular support for the Communists remained strong. After 1 ATF was withdrawn in 1971 the insurgency in Phước Tuy rapidly expanded. Ultimately, despite maintaining a reputation for professionalism, the operations of the task force had little impact on the final outcome of the war
      programs were often undertaken without reference to the local population and it was not until 1969 that villagers were involved in determining what projects would be undertaken and in their construction. Equally, ongoing staff and material support was usually not provided, while maintenance and sustainment was the responsibility of the provincial government which often lacked the capacity or the will to provide it, limiting the benefit provided to the local population. programs continued until 1 ATF's withdrawal in 1971, and although it may have succeeded in generating goodwill towards Australian forces, it largely failed to increase support for the South Vietnamese government in the province."
      As for the comparison to the malayan emergency, their share few if any similarities.
      In Vietnam the Viet Cong and the ARVN were ethnically and religiously the same. The VC had all of SE Asia in which to hide and the US could not separate the VC from the ordinary civilian population. The US also never had a workable political solution in view.
      Malaya was very different. The enemy was mainly Chinese whereas the Malay or Bumiputras were 100% Malay nationals and 100% Muslim by religion. The British knew this and used it to isolate the CTS by moving the Malays into protected villages.
      in Vietnam, in addition to the Vietcong, the millions strong NVA was directly involved in hostilities, operating SAMs, MiGs, artillery and tanks. Comparatively, The Malayan Communist Party had access to none of these things.
      In total, the Vietnamese forces numbered over 2,000,000 men, including 170,000 Chinese troops positioned in North Vietnam as a tripwire force to discourage an American invasion.
      The total number of Malayan Communist Party guerrillas came to 8,000 men.
      The two wars were not remotely comparable.

    • @drstev0485
      @drstev0485 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In conclusion, you shouldn't compare a military's methodology when one side was faced with over 2,000,000 men armed and supplied with modern Soviet aircraft, armor, and SAM systems, and the other faced 8,000 guerillas almost completely isolated from outside support.
      More men were killed in a single day in 1968 than in 12 years in Malaya.

The nutless military hierarchy in Oz, and selected journalists chasing media awards have attacked our brave boys with accusations on a variety of alleged crimes while doing the job that no one else would, or could do. His career post military ruined, defending himself on every front from the howling media jackals, this only goes to reinforce the usual disgusting treatment of ex service personel in this country by the defence force upon their retirement. The corollary to this is that the polititions of this country do for themselves very nicely and ignore the plight of damaged ex service personel.
