Thanks for the reaction. I wish it had been more proggy for you. I tend to forget sometimes what is and what isn't. Hopefully, someone with a younger brain will suggest some. lol. 👍🏻🙂👍🏻
I have found it tough to listen to their older heavier stuff in the past, but this one might have sold me on it. Typically I love their softer side, like the whole of the Malina album. This track seems to share some of those softer elements that I hadn't picked up on in the past because they are subtly mixed in with aggressive instrumentation.
Thanks for the reaction Bilateral is my favorite Leprous album! I’d recommend checking out “Waste Of Air” from this album. it’s quite possibly there heaviest track and pretty proggy too. Also recommend “The Sky Is Red” for more of there modern prog style.
Love Leprous, Einar Solberg may be my favorite prog vocalist out there, his range is outstanding. To explain why this song sounded so heavy compared to the one you did before, Leprous started off as more of a prog death metal band, in the vein of Opeth, and that's pretty much when that album came around. Not the biggest fan of Bilateral myself, but I can't deny it is a fan favorite album from that era. They started slowing down on the metal inspiration in the album following that one, to almost completely dump it starting from the album Malina (which is the era of the band the last song you reacted to was from). If you want to see proggier Leprous songs, here are what I think would be among their proggiest: -Echo -The Sky Is Red -The Valley -At The Bottom -Nighttime Disguise As for similar artists, Devin Townsend comes to mind, he's one of, if not my favorite vocalist in the modern prog sphere, and his music has some really chaotic moments with a hint of Zappa-like humor at times, maybe you could check out Solar Winds or Deconstruction. Similarly, another band you haven't checked out on the heavier side of prog would be Between The Buried And Me, though these guys are closer to something like Haken rather than Leprous, although they have a heavier edge to them. The Coma Machine would be a great song to start, not too heavy and plenty proggy.
Personally, Einar is my favorite vocalist, no matter the genre, his range is so diverse, his lowest being G2 if im not mistaken and his highest being A5 and C6 at the beginning of Aeolus Shadow(In their demo Aeolia)
Hi OPH Tom, great reaction as always🤘😃. A band I don't think you have checked out on the channel yet is Aviations and their track Outliers. They have a couple of new music videos out and a new album sometime this year. You also mentioned Haken, you should react to Falling back to Earth by them it's amazing. Rock on Tom🤘😁
I like Leprous, this song is less proggy, but as you said that doesn't mean bad! I suggest you another prog metal band "Seven steps to the green door", the song I suggest you to listen is "The Deadly Cucifixion". The name is particular, as always for this band song's, but the song is very good, with multiple different parts, it starts like a run (with very good riffs and different instruments) that break through a reflecting moment (a voice that feels so deep, you'll love it) and ends in a revelation (more solos, different instruments that lead you to the end of the journey). I'm sure you'll love this songs and this band!! (Surely you'll love them more than their song titles)
Great reaction! You popped up randomly in my suggestions. I’ve never listened to this band I’ll have to check them out. I have a Prog recommendation, you should check out “Crumbling Castle” by King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. You could listen to the whole album if you wanted it’s free to the public. (Edit) this is a great live video of the song and other songs from their discography. th-cam.com/video/wxwu7FYFSek/w-d-xo.html
Reccomendation from me. Random order:
1. The Sky is Red
2. Nighttime Disguise
3. Rewind
4. Valley
5. Tall Poppy Syndrome
6. Slave
7. Waste of Air
8. At The Bottom
The Valley is one of my favorites!

One of their more interesting songs from the instrumental standpoint to me, it's all around brilliant
