I got nothing but respect for Urijah especially after hearing this. Most MMA guys try to act tough he did the smart thing and ran like hell. What's the point of doing all that sprinting if you ain't gonna run away. Also this sounds like a scene from the Hangover
Moral of the story: dont pick a fight with a local in a foreign country when youre all by yourself unless youre a man of action who likes danger, adventure and a good story
@@johnfrenette Unfortunately, a lot of thugs won't just let you "walk away" once they target you. People have this naive expectation that they can safely remove themselves from dangerous situation if they so wish. That guy and his gang were gonna jump Urijah sooner or later.

Urijah, you've worked hard all your life to become such a great champion. At this point in your life, this experience was to serve you that violence is not always the way to resolve conflict. most of indonesians are very nice. But the most young indonesian guys(or girls) who like to spend time in pups, bars or discothek are mostly "the bad seed"of society. Why? because places like bars, discothek and alkohol is just not Indonesian culture .And some of these guys get aggressive after small amount of alkohol. Im indonesian and i can confirm that sadly these kind of brawls happens alot in Indonesia and Bali. thats the way we fight, never man to man and always in a group. blame it on 350 years of dutch colonialism

@Xytos nah. Indonesia is the same as thailand. They fight with weapons and numbers, sounds just like what happens in thailand every week with tourists and locals.
@sokonlon yup in indonesia, if you fight one guy you fight the whole family/gang/village. it is rare to be able to walk away when you just beaten one of them.
reminds me of the time i saw the california kid at UOP in stockton, ca. I kept starring at him to confirm it was Urijah like that balinese dude in this story. That was til Urijah mugged me back.
At least Bali still gave him a fair fight may not be 1-on-1. You go to Detroit, Chicago & LA getho area...They seldom use their fist...they will kill you with a bullet. Last time I was there I stayed in Kuta for about 15 minutes, enough time to think "Bali could certainly do without the Bounty, Peanuts Bar and all the cheap, nasty, white, drunk tourists from Australia and Germany. At least the mountains are still nice.
August 2014, I was In Jalan Legian (Party street) This tall, black and muscular local dude was chasing this red head white girl. I was in Taxi and drunk. When I saw the scene I jumped out of moving taxi and chased this local dude, grabbed him from shoulder and asked him "Why are you chasing her". He pushed me back and asked "Do you want to kill me, where are you from?" (he was confused coz I look Balinese as well so he could not figure out if I was local or tourist) while he was asking that his right hand reached his pocket and all of sudden his mates grabbed me from the back. I am like thats it. I am dead. So for the last time I try to break free from his mates and have a go at him. As I am struggling to break free the taxi driver pulls me and pushes me taxi and drives off. Looking back from car window I did not see the Redhead girl. She had run away. You go to Bali, you better be strong and be able to fight.
