Thane's first ISKCON temple, the Sri Sri Radha Govindadeva Mandir, was inaugurated on March 17, 2024, within the Piramal Vaikunth residential complex in Balkum, Thane. This temple is notable for being the first ISKCON temple situated inside a gated community in Maharashtra.
Architecture and Facilities:
The temple complex spans approximately 4,000 square feet and draws inspiration from the majestic temples of Gujarat and Rajasthan. It features a single Shikhar (tower) adorned with 18 pillars, a striking 90-foot dome, and a Garbhagriha entrance highlighted by Kalpavriksha.
Temple Activities:
The temple has become a vibrant center for devotional activities, including:
Aartis: Regular worship ceremonies are conducted throughout the day.
Bhoga Offerings: A dedicated team prepares sumptuous offerings for the deities multiple times a day.
Flower Seva: Devotees create garlands and floral decorations for the deities.
Shringar and Shayan Seva: Teams manage the dressing and resting ceremonies of the deities
