Since you first bought your house until now, I have been blessed to witness talent on another level. Everything you have designed & built have been absolutely one of a kind beautiful. Every project turns out the very way it should have. Exodus 31:3
Yet another quality video Jesse, nice one brother. I know you must be itching to get outside and start living your best life again but please don't underestimate the power and benefits of these videos. I am definitely more inspired too try these things. Keep up the excellent work and I hope your achilles heals up nice and quick like.
Nice looking cups. You should try making these using something like birch burl. The Swedish natives, the Sami, has some gorgeous traditional cups called guksi (or kåsa) that are made from burl wood from birch, and maybe some inlays of reindeer bone. They are absolutely lovely to drink coffee from, and I don't think they use any finish on them at all. Certainly not on the inside at least. I've never seen one of those with that type of wavy carving on the outside. I bet it would look awesome.
Very nice to see your healing well and are still able to produce another awesome (and useful) project with scraps. I love how that finish popped! Cheers!
Craftsmanship at its best,ABSOLUTELY ❤YOUR VIDEOS, SO INSPIRING, PLEASE KEEP THEM COMING!! I SIT DOWN A WATCH WITH EXCITEMENT WHEN I SEE YOUR VIDEO POPS UP🎉!!
As per usual another beautiful project. You are a talented man, stay positive. I love these smaller more accessible projects for the lesser woodworkers. 👍🏻👏
These mugs turned out gorgeous! And good call on not doing the pigments on the inside of the mugs, as the titanium dioxide in the white is now considered a possible carcinogen.
I gave you a Thumbs Up before the vid even started !! Love ya bro. Your wife and kids have the best dad ever. If your wife doesn't love that mug.. They turned out amazing ! Have a Happy Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas :) Don't let the weather get you down.. we're all dealing with it.. and some injury's too .. Peace
This video feels like a “classic” samurai video to me - well done, nice edit and cool pieces - no offence by that comment - but yeah, this video reminds me of so many older vids that have inspired me to try and make things - sometimes when you say less it says more.
I love these mugs. I wish I had more patience when working on a project. Internally I put pressure on myself to get done quickly and move to the next task always feeling when I’m done that I could have done better. I hate this about myself.
Don’t be too hard on yourself. That probably comes from a childhood trauma where your parents valued speed and efficiency over everything else. It’s a big part of western culture. I struggle with it too.
@ Thank you. lol. You are spot on with your (don’t be too hard on yourself) comment. I am that as well. We are so simple yet so very complex at the same time.
I thought about epoxy but drinking micro plastics probably isn’t healthy so I’m trying to use safer products as much as possible. I’ll definitely have to reapply more often when using a natural oil finish like Odie’s.
@@TheSamuraiCarpenter i was wondering how they worked out. but i also wonder, if there are stainless steel cores you can turn a wood sleeve to wrap around it, so your liquids contact metal instead. still though, amazing work as always! very nice.
Not trying to start any kind of flame war. I don't really have any concerns about my family's health and safety because I've not really used Odie's Oil on surfaces food gets served directly on (unlike your coffee mugs). I'm more concerned for future projects (because I have a ton of this stuff) and also just for moral reasons (not wanting to knowingly use products from companies that are unethical). A couple of years ago, based on your recommendations, I bought a bunch of Odie's Oil products when I was refinishing our dining room table (and have no complaints). I've used them on a few projects since. Recently, someone told me about some controversey regarding Odie's Oil. Nothing that I've been able to find online has been definitive one way or the other which makes me think it could just be competition stirring up trouble. Hopefully, since you just made cups that you intend on drinking hot liquids out of of that are finished on the inside with Odie's. you'll be concerned and get to the bottom of this before you and your wife drink out of those cups. If you do, please let me know what you find!
Beautiful
Those look amazing Samurai
Good to see you doing better!
Cool project!

Adding those to the to do list, look ace. I like the smell of sapele too
Very nice, thanks. Not sure I would really use them because of the chemicals but I would definitely put them on display.

Beautiful cups!

Speed rarely produces quality.
Hell yeah 👍
👍👍
how does that oil hold up against the hot liquid? Do you have to reapply it often? Some people use epoxy for such uses.

I didn’t realise I needed hand carved wooden mugs! Oh how wrong I was!
Why didn’t you do them just like bandsawboxes? Then you wouldn’t have to use the drillpress and clean up.

Be careful, this glue is not food safe!
You channel needs to be more positive.. i loved it when you were building your cabin, now its just depressing.
