Land Rover’s terrain response is truly marvelous. I always was skeptical of the independent suspensions capability off-road, but LR found a way to give you a car that rides like a dream and goes anywhere. Driving my LR4 (Which your videos had a part in me buying) is night and day vs driving my older Jeep Wrangler.
As you may have seen we also have a 2019 Wrangler Rubicon, it is a very different beast to either the D3 or FL2, each have their pros and cons. Glad to hear we helped in your decision.
People discount the Freelander 2 but it is a very capable vehicle. Mine got me round the off road course at The Great British Landrover Show on Delinte dh7 tyres and around Sailsbury Plains as well. Mines a 2011 TD4 XS Manual. Look forward to seeing the future videos with the Freelander 2.
Very enjoyable watch, really interesting to see the Freelander 2 being featured, it’s a very capable vehicle and from the looks of it I am sure you will have many hours of fun. Also what a fab first car!!!
A group of us have just completed The Machynlleth Horse shoe. Three of the freelander 2's were lifted and one ( mine) was standard suspension. All got through with no damage..
Think I’ve possibly seen your post about it on trailwise2 a month or so ago maybe? I only greenlane on 2 wheels myself but I’ve had various landys over the years and must say I thought the modded FL2s in the picture on trailwise were very nice looking! Reason I’m watching this video is I’ve just swapped my RAV4 for a freelander 2 so who knows maybe I’ll be on some lanes on 4 wheels before long (doubt it) haha.
Still miss our 2014 FL2 in Fiji white. Replaced it for a Jag, but still would buy it back f I had the chance. Regarding terraincapabilities: FL2 was more capable than the driver dared to do …
Honestly, the best all round LR money can buy. Small, proper off-road credentials and a breeze to service at home. Best old motor I’ve had to date. Watch the values creep steadily upward 👍
Just come across your channel and have subscribed. I am the proud and fortunate owner of a 2014 FL2 Metropolis and from the many Landrovers ive owned, it is by far the best, I absolutely love it. Probably is the most underrated Landrover ever and it puzzles me that they discontinued the car!
@@ianross04 That's good to know , I'm coming out of a Discovery 2 that I had an accident in and it ended up on its side , the body folded so will not be putting my family in another Discovery 2 ever again. It went on the drivers side and the N/s A ,B,C and D post all moved to the point the whole b post pillar was pushed out. Wasn't even a high speed roll. So looking forward to the FL2
Great video, can't understand why I had not found this one sooner! Been eyeing on used Freelander 2s lately, as a 'budget Discovery' aternative. Really like the character, the ride comfort, handling and general ambience of the FL2. But... I wish it was about 10cm longer, to stretch the boot into actually useful dimensions. Currently it's a bit disappointing, and I haven't yet figured how to compensate the lack of boot space. =(
We also have a new quote in from Admiral (with a box) for £920 fully comp, 18 year old driver 1 years NCB (collected whilst learning / waiting for test during Covid)
With suspension spacers the freelander is like a little dinosaur 👍 Have a look on this : m.th-cam.com/video/IUHGpxi4Dno/w-d-xo.html to see how it performs. In this one also the FL did an excellent job : m.th-cam.com/video/AHOWO_ZtwMI/w-d-xo.html An awsome softroader by far 😉
Hey how r u. ? I also having 2008 LR2. It's super car & capable for all type of off-road terrain. But just today morning I found error " HDC Fault System not available" Can you pls suggest solution. ? I already tried jumpstart
@@codenamenel Actually Land Rover is voltage sensitive so it not started with jumpstart but after fixing new battery it starts in 1st attempt. BDW thanx for the suggestion.
@@JayTeeCars That's still pretty cheap, considering the MY and low mileage despite it basically being an S model. i hate to see series after this at I got one used and more I have it more I love it the masculine looks the power of engine just everything other suvs have loooks that make me laugh even cars 5x more expensive
The plus side to young drivers owning a Freelander 2 is that they'll get to learn how to fix the endless list of problems their car will definitely show.

I got one, 2014, SE Diesel 2.2. It's my baby. 147.000 km. No trouble at all. Great video. Greetings from Brazil!
Thanks for sharing!
I took mine off road last weekend marshalling on the Yorkshire Hill Rally in deep mud and ruts. It coped really well

glad you enjoyed it, we have another FL2 short video in process.

Check out MuddyMods for quality suspension lift kits
Thanks Martin, yes we have been looking at these :)
Keep an eye out for Joel Self's video dropped on TH-cam soon.
Should be eye watering wheel cocking 😄😄

Great video again harv. You’ll be doing well driving that unit around once you pass! Looks great.
Good video, looking forward to more on the Freelander in the future. 👍
Coming soon!

Yes... I think with it being lighter, this also is a big help

Discovery sport was same chassis and engine initially....
How do you like the Metropolis? Just waiting for my 2014 to arrive. Come from a Disco 2 . How do you like it ?

Can you recommend an insurer- I have tried to add my 18yr old to our insurance and they wouldn’t quote for it
Brilliant vid I have one which mode was the terrain response set too please ?
I seem to remember it was mud and ruts
Hi which insurance provider was this quote through
I drive a manual FL2 and if you select mud and ruts there is no requirement to use the clutch. Only poor drivers slip the clutch
Thanks Dennis, how do you get on with rock crawling and low speeds with the manual?
Not just for young drivers, I just came from a 320d to my freelander 2 at 39 and my insurance halved
We also have a new quote in from Admiral (with a box) for £920 fully comp, 18 year old driver 1 years NCB (collected whilst learning / waiting for test during Covid)
I’m 34 with 7 years NCB the best price I could get was £600 on a 57 plate.
Какие режимы TR включены?

Which company did you use for insurance.
'My policy' they seemed to have the best price by far.
@@JayTeeCars thanks for the reply, I'll check them out.
Good comparison. Where’s the lane?
Thank you, it's only a short lane but quite challenging, it's called 'peckforton gap'
What sort of money u looking at to buy one ?
We paid £7,200 for 2013 model with 98,000 miles on the clock, full main dealer Land Rover service history
