The bees, those glorious little workers, gathering the pollen --- now that is abundance. I love the 4 season garden concept ---- can't wait to see your upcoming plans for the future. Thanks for sharing your August gardens ---- they are beautiful and abundant.

I love seeing reality. August is so hot, no one even wants to be outside, I sometimes even just give up and think, I'll do it next year. But really it is beautiful. Just all the natural growth💞

Too the two of you it might seem there are wildly grown areas but that is because you look at it everyday with a tuned sense of neatness. Whereas the rest of us look at it as walking thru a Beatrix Potters garden waiting for a story to develop, a character to pop out..
I am in the process of tearing out the plants that get ruined by deer every year especially hostas . I wish I could get help in doing so but I work at it everyday.
I am looking at turning these scrubb,y looking beds into pollinator gardens but with a senior friendly appeal. Putting down ground cloth and mulch to lesson the need to weed.
When my zinnias started to get blemished by the Japanese beetles I tore them out and replanted and now there are fresh plants producing buds i think gardens are like our seasons in life, sometimes abundant, sometimes unproductive so going thru with a helper gives you peace of mind in reorganizing them and giving you precious time with your family to have the time to go on a picnic, a swim and get away or just sitting in the middle of all that beauty and read to your kiddos while listening to music and relishing the gift God has enabled you to have.....Bless you

Loved this, Shaye! That's the magic of being a gardener, yes? It's always changing and always challenges us to think ahead! It would be lovely for you to do a vid updating us all on WHAT plants y'all decided to keep/grow more of AND what you decided to get rid of....and, WHY!

Weeds are flowers too, once you get to know them :). That being said, there's no shame in asking for help. Your garden inspires me everytime I watch your YT video's being in a 'garden transition' myself. We have made an edible garden with raised beds (and by raised I mean about 70 cm high) and still are changing and evolving. That's the beauty of it all. Thank you so much for being my inspiration. I would rather have abundance and wild than paucity and tame any day. But even a relaxed garden needs a gardener's hand, so I do understand the need to carefully add and edit at the same time. What a lovely place to call home.

Aww Monty Don, I wish HGTV would go back to it's roots an have shows like Gardeners World again. Your property is just lovely, having a pond does make you want to have them everywhere, there's really nothing like it. I have ginormous frogs living in mine, an the dragonflies this yr kept the mosquitoes down to none, it's been a Wonderful summer here on my lump of Maryland's eastern shore.

Last year was my first year of gardening and I still very exited about it, because I know it's going to take time before I feel satisfied over 60%. In my vision my garden has to offer fruits, nuts, and vegetables; it has to contain private spaces for relaxation and summer kitchen with big table for gatherings; water element preferably with running water, outdor 🚿; white garden spot because I love white flowers and the fragrances of the spring. The first 🌳 to bloom in my garden is a Cornelian cherry, and the last fruit to pick up an 🍎. I want to create seasonal and vertical garden. For the winter I picked evergreens like junipers, ilex, Italian cypress, and buxus ( I live in Bulgaria) I want to plant persimmon for whinter pick up, it has beautiful orange fruits... My favorite Autumn plants are the Wild grape, it has a gorgeous red color and the Japanese maple Its 🍁 is good for tempura!:)The first flowers I love so much-snowdrops and the last in my garden chrysanthemums. All I know is I have a work to do, a lott of it:)

I’ve only just found your blog and I think your garden is beautiful. I come from the South West of England and I am a passionate gardener so watch Monty Don every week. It was lovely to hear that you do too. I don’t know whether you’ve started work on your potager yet but you may like to take a look at Rosemary Verey’s potager in Barnsley House, nr Cirencester. She influenced a lot of gardener designers in this country like myself..
