Should you side-chain your sub-bass to your snare? What about your mid-bass? In this tutorial, I break down the real reason why sidechaining matters in drum & bass and how to do it correctly. It’s not just about ducking everything - it’s about managing overlapping frequencies for a clean, punchy mix.
I'll show you why sub-bass often doesn’t need side-chaining to the snare, but mid-bass usually does, with clear examples and practical techniques you can apply to your own tracks.

You just saved me months of fiddle about with this exact topic - SC Snare to Sub.. I feel it can help with Dancefloor Neurofunk styles as the snare is usually massive and has that 200hz bottom end

Hey dude! Hope you’re doing well. Just curious, did your mixing workflow change recently? I feel like couple of months ago you were big on volume shaping plugins for sidechaining but now it’s more compressor heavy. Also wondering how you deal with any clicks at the beginning of the attack of the compressor when using the kilohearts compressor; it doesn’t have any lookahead setting 😢

so i see you use kmultipass but would you say that pro MB will work just as good for frequency sidechaning ?
