Cherish the knowledge and stories from grandma. They are a great part of your heritage. My grandmother was born just outside of Samara. Her recipes are still with me today. I also learnt a lot from my Canadian grandmother. I wish they both were still here with me. God bless

I loved visiting my Oma and Opa who lived down the road from us in our hamlet in northern Ontario Canada. We were fed with the best homemade fried chicken with all the organic sides, and the homemade fudge for a dessert, this was the best time of my life....I miss Oma and Opa, and of course my Mom too.

Se parecen mucho a las empanadas. Qué delicia, y yo creía que eran solo tradición de acá de Argentina y otros pocos países, al menos con esa forma. El borde acá le llamamos "repulgue" y se hacen de diferentes formas según el relleno de la empanada. Saludos y las abuelas son eternas!

They make Pasties up there, a meat pie very much like you and your grandma made. This was a copper mining area. The British miners who came from Cornwall in the early 1900s introduced thes to the Finnish and Swedish miners in that area. My wife is Swedish.
