Your demonstration of the skills are on key. One question do you document after the client has eaten ?
Hello, For the feeding skill, the student is not required to document the amount eaten.
For this skill, the evaluator will be looking to see if you ASKED the patient to say their name, make sure the client is sitting upright, the candidate is SITTING, and tell the client what they are eating. These are important steps.

I have a question , so when it states to put the bed in a lower position. Do we raise the bed to a safe working level?
I was told not to raise the bed , just say it .
Hello, I personally teach my student NOT to raise the bed to a safe working level. This is because some students get nervous about taking the exam and may forget to put the height of the bed back down. NOT putting the bed back down is a costly mistake because now the client is at risk for injury/falls.
So, I tell my students to keep the bed at whatever level the evaluator has the bed at. The bed wheels will ALREADY be locked. Therefore, a student should NEVER unlock the bed wheels.

Do we wear gloves during this skill?
Hello, Credentia does NOT require gloves for this skill. In reality wearing gloves while feeding is considered insulting.
Would we not the clothing protector into the soiled linen basket? Im asking because my teacher always had us put things like clothes and cloths/rags into the soiled linen not unless it was hazardous
Hello, Credentia does NOT use a soiled linen basket. The instructions call placement in the Dirty Supply Area.
You clean the patients hands at the beginning and end with the same wipe? Isn't the wipe dirty from first cleaning the hands?
Hello, Credentia does not require the candidate to change wipes. Therefore, you can use the same wipe or a different wipe. You will NOT FAIL if you use the same wipe.
When I go to a restaurant and eat finger foods such as chicken nuggets, I use the same napkin throughout my meal. I don't get a clean napkin or wipe at different times while eating. I hope this example helps.

Hello, The student MUST place something across the resident's chest for this skill. You may place a paper towel, washcloth, or clothing protector.
Do I need to provide privacy for feeding it isn't a requirement in credentia hand book.
Hello, You DON"T need to provide privacy for the feeding skill. In real life, most patients eat in a dining room with other people. So, privacy is not needed.

Hello, The first skill requires the candidate to actually wash their hands. After the first skill, the candidate would verbalize handwashing.

You MUST sit while feeding the client.
The side rail is not a requirement for this skill.
Would it be ok to put the cloth in the dirty linen instead of dirty supply?
Credentia does not use the dirty linen hamper.
Would there be a dry linen ? If so does this classify as that?

Hello, That is correct. It helps my students remember to clean the mouth after feeding.

Hello, Skill 10, feeding a client NEVER asks the candidate to clean the table. Where did you get that requirement from?
Cleaning the table is not a requirement for this skill.
do we have to offer every single thing on the meal tray?
Hello Ashley, yes you need to tell the client everything that is on the tray. In this manner, you will be respecting the patient's right to eat what they want and not what you want to feed the client. Let the patient decide.
Is it ok to leave the table in front of the client when you leave the room?
Hello Lucy, The placement of the table is not something the evaluator will grade you on. So, yes, you can leave the table in front of the resident with this skill.

Hi dr. Lee. I have a question. So im shorter. Would it be okay to place your chair where it should be and say, " i would usually sit and feed the client but because im short ill be standing so i dont reach over the patients food?" Im stressing over this, im literally just 4'10 😢
Hello, The state instructions call for the student to SIT while feeding the client. If you stand you might not pass.

Hello, for the feeding skill, YOU MUST ask the patient to state their name. This is a step in the skill.
What if the patient can't say her name
Hello, During the exam, you will be working with another student who will pretend to be a patient. Therefore, the person will be able to state their name.
