You are correct. Back to the Future also got that wrong. When Marty was in the diner back in 1955 he asked for a Tab, then Pepsi Free, then to just get something without sugar... oops!
Get a good old Cookout Cheerwine and you are as close to heaven as you can be. I do not think that Rhett and Link can mention they are from N.C. (The greatest state) with comments like "what is that, Strawberry?"
I think he meant sodas that don't have a strong flavor besides sugar/candy. Like most of the ones he didn't like he compared to bubblegum, cotton candy, and like cream soda. Compare those flavors to fruity sodas, or ones with a pronounced flavor like cola or Dr pepper, and they would seem much sweeter, even if they aren't.
For anyone who doesn't know...Rock&Rye is essentially just Root Beer and Dr.Pepper mixed. So you get a slight cherry flavor behind the Root Beer, and the way the flavors blend together is so smooth
Michigan boy here, and most people I know would probably pick that faygo, (I wouldn't) but for Rhett n linc, I think the right choice for them to taste would have been grape or orange. Ah well. One day maybe they'll get the love they deserve.
I had a dream the other night that you guys were retired and owned a soda pop shop and all the flavors were gourmet and customized. And now I’m seeing this video.
I'm 46, same ageish as these guys. We had lots of Shasta and Little Caesar's parties in elementary school. Cola, Orange, Kiwi Strawberry, Lemon Lime, Ginger Ale...They were 24 for $2, pick your own back then. They even had tiny sodas. I thought EVERYONE had Shasta. Can't find as many flavors around but the Tiki is always available.

@21stcenturymusicman Sprecher Root Beer would’ve been a great inclusion. I would also have liked to see how Sprecher Cream Soda fared against the other cream sodas.
As a North Carolinian, to fellow North Carolinians Rhett, & Link, I'm offended Y'all were not huge fans of the Cheerwine soda. Because, I'm obsessed with it!! 😍🤣

I thought I Link was talking about the before and after segment on wheel of fortune no?
