Thanks Duluth Harbor Cam, and followers. I'm listening to this with the stereo speakers turned up (old Polk Audio, pulse a sub), and it really shakes the wood floor quite well! I recommend loudspeakers to everyone! Please be safe.... Bless
Great shots, especially from the Lighthouse cam. You can actually the faces of the very hardy crew. Brrr! Thank you to all the guys and gals that keep these ships rolling.
That horn wanted no part of that cold. Sounded like a car trying to start on a cold morning without a fully charged battery. The Lift Bridge didn't seem to realize that was even a horn for the Captain's Salute.
I am a sailor on this ship and saw everyone on the dock this morning! Our ships whistle sounded like that because the heater for it broke. It will be repaired soon.
I spent the better part of two decades in Montana and North Dakota while I was in the Air Force. I am from Texas and that first winter in Montana was real culture shock! I came to realize that Hell is a cold place!
I live in Malibu and look out at the ships on the water. I always think how cold it must be for the people onboard. This puts things into another perspective.
Just went to see the Edmund Fitzgerald anchor on Belle Isle today. Told my girlfriend it would be cool to see a freighter while we were there. We noticed this ship just as we were leaving. Cool to see where she was coming from.
9:26 that was the horn if you could find it… the icy cold was messing with the hydraulics in the diaphragm and the resonating chamber of the ships airhorn.
@@leviathantoobz I love it, I get to see the various ports of the Great Lakes and get the winter off! (Boat lays up for 2 to 3 months) Right now I'm in my cabin on the ship just relaxing, while we load grain.
@@L0neStars cool, i just got down firefighting in California for the whole summer and I too get the winters off… we’re both in the same boat except you probably get paid more than i do and see family way more. But i wouldn’t know your schedule
Either the bridge missed the horn (jokes aside I doubt that because we could hear it on the video) or the bridge’s horns finally froze up solid after weeks of them being not so great lol
it dont even seem real with the light on the horizon, or a really old photo, even though this was just 2 days ago from this posting, looks like a computer image from a naval video game thats how real looking they are at least as far as the ship and the water go, but its surreal, though the ships are very importent to shipping and supplys for making things though out the midwest like steel and other industreal commodities, though I thought they laid these up for winter or is it just when its storming which has a perpensity to do on the great lakes this far north.
Those sunrise arrivals amidst the sea smoke are stunning. Thank you.
@Josey Wilds you have anything better to do
Oh my word! Absolutely surreal opening shots. Worthy of Hollywood.

That mystical look! Just a fine video, for which thanks!

Lmao yeah the lift bridge was like “wait, he callin me…? Oh, nah, thats just the wind…” lmao 🤣
A little peace for the neighbors

@@L0neStars I consider you as 💯 percent essential! Thank You for your dedication to the commerce of the USA and maybe Canada too!!!
@@billnelson7254 Thank you for the kind words!
That is the best ship and crew I ever worked with.

Thx. Very nice. Quite the frozen horn. Bridge didn't pick it up.
Thank you for recording. Majestic
So quiet at first didn’t realize it was playing

Ice monster is the best name for this Lady
That is the coldest horn I have ever heard. And bridge no comprendo and silent. ;)
Real men don't need horns
The heater broke apparently so it froze.

Fantastic. Thanks so much!
What do we have 7 more days? Then it shuts down?
I'm in awe of these ships and crew...
Great Lakes mariners .... an amazing group.
The horn LOL
Gorgeous! Well filmed, indeed! (and I like the term "sea smoke")
Visually stunning. For any fisherperson who has been in an aluminum boat late fall/early spring in
How absolutely breathtaking
I love it 💝💝💝
Love the description! lol Thanks!
Majestic beauty ‼️
Fantastic visuals. Lake Superior is a real Land of Oz!
"The Flying Dutchman" 😁
Awesome video.
Wow !! Just the beginning of the video. A Painting.
fabulous video, thanks
Some very hearty people in Duluth ! -7 degrees and they still come to the icy canal
Beautiful
Don't know why I think of my uncle's frozen mustache.
This is a great video.
realmente e um monstro dos oceanos muito lindo ver essas chegando de mais uma missão e todo com gelo e maravilhoso
That horn sounds just like me when I wake up in winter and attempt to get out of bed🤗
The bridge horn just gave up😂
The opening shots looks like a painting!
I’m freezing here in Alabama just watching this 😄

Yes that, and our ship whistle heater is broken. I am a sailor on the ship.
@@L0neStars Thats cool dude. Are you on land just chilling now? Do you enjoy your job?

Really cool! when is the next one to arrive I want to be there.
Wow. Thanks
Shiver me timbers!
Amazing!
My LORD that is a SIGHT!!
Flying Dutchman? It was sighted off the coast of Malta this week.
I just love Lake Superior and the Duluth / Superior areas
it was about 18 below with a wind chill of 30 below
What beautiful light! Is there any processing involved or is it a raw video?
Could the anchors be dropped if needed like in an emergency or are they frozen in place?
Good day to make port well done captain
Is there a point at which the harbor ices up so much that the ships can no longer enter?
I live in Duluth. Why didn't the bridge horn reply? Help me fellow Twin Ports citizens.
Either the bridge missed the horn (jokes aside I doubt that because we could hear it on the video) or the bridge’s horns finally froze up solid after weeks of them being not so great lol
Welcome back me to I wish to ride in one of that
I thought these vessels stopped running the winter. No?
Frozen horn. Sounds so odd.
Looks very cold. What is air temp and how thick is the ice in the harbour.
Thanks for sharing the 2021 shipping season. How many boats are laid up for the winter already?
Can anyone tell me how far down below the ships water line the ship actually goes?
This one finally came in for lay-up?
what was it _30 F. whistles barely worked it was so cold.
Is that Mr freeze at the helm.
Awesometastic
Newbie: Do these boats operate year round?
Not on Lake Superior. Once the Soo Locks closes on Jan 15th. the season is done until March 25th.
It's already January. No winter layup?
The soo locks close Jan 15th annually
One week left before layup
We are laying up after this grain load. American Mariner sailor here.
Thanks! Love the channel.
Sound comes on @ 6:47.

It's time to quit when the horns don't work......bridge sounded like Godzilla trying to get out of bed
🥶
Poor thing needs a new horn!
METAL
Does this lake ever freeze over, making it impassable?? Or is this another Global warming thing?
Oh well, if I gotta...
