Thank you for making this video. I agree with everything you said about the Daniel and Miyagi relationship. They are my favorite movie duo of all time. Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita had a magical on-screen chemistry. Some of my favorite scenes from Cobra Kai are scenes that call back to their relationship. I think people are way too hard on Daniel’s character in the show. I still find him very likeable despite his flaws. You just have to try to see things from his perspective. His intentions are almost always good and he’s been shown to be right about a lot of the things he’s said. And anyone who has seen the original movies should understand why Daniel holds Miyagi in the high regard that he does. If I were Daniel I would put Mr. Miyagi on a pedestal too. That said, I don’t like what the writers are doing with Daniel this season. They’ve now done the “Daniel’s not acting like himself” thing one too many times. They just did it in season 5, now they’re doing it again. It feels like a lot of the characters are being regressed to create forced drama.
Nice video! You took the words right out of my mouth. I actually don't have anything to really refute, but here's my opinion to add on. As you and many people have already pointed out, a lot of Daniel's "glazing" is really just taken out of context. I also think that the reason why Daniel brings up Miyagi so much to the point where it becomes excessive stems from trauma. He never really had someone who understood him like Miyagi did and Miyagi was his best friend. In my opinion, though, all of the moments feel so natural and heartfelt. I definitely agree about the fans blowing it out proportion! Everyone seems to have forgotten about Daniel and Miyagi and how it all started. You're totally right. I relate a lot to Daniel in The Karate Kid and seeing his journey continue in Cobra Kai is so special to me. The fisherman scene is amazing. I'm so glad that you mentioned the thing about fans just listening to whatever the show is saying. It feels like so many of the fans complaining just like to jump on the bandwagon.

They say not just Daniel glazes Miyagi, they also think Kwon will become a good guy and helping Miguel with his family :-D. I dont know what to say about such comments. The way people react to this and the way they put Daniel's character down for it just shows us one thing: People have forgotten what it means to have a good, influential person in your life. Someone who really made a difference. For most people today, relationships (of all kinds) don't mean ANYTHING anymore. Something goes wrong? Who cares, just move on to the next relationship. Great vid, I’m with you. It’s quite an interesting dynamic and why the relationship between Daniel and Johnny has its ups and downs. Daniel is trying to embrace the teachings of his mentor, while Johnny is simultaneously trying to break free once and for all from the teachings of his mentor. Johnny you might say is “anti-glazing” lol. They both need to learn from the other, Daniel needs to break free a bit from the past, while Johnny needs to learn to trust the teachings of a mentor like Miyagi. Quite a dichotomy!
For me even though its annoying how daniel consistently puts miyagi on the pestal, it makes sense cuz miyagi was a father figure to him and taugh him about life people needs to understand the context about why he puts miyagi on a pestal.

THE CHOSEN ONE: One of the best video's that you've done thus far 😊👍. I feel like myself I am at a crossroads with that because while it has gotten out of control, some people are right where Daniel does "glaze" Mr. Miyagi yes, he does, I mean even Anthony calls Daniel out on it in S4 episode 7, but there are other times where it's NOT "glazing" it's fact and to add on to what you said along with it Daniel also literally witnessed Miyagi save Johnny's life and spare (of all people) Kreeses and that's something that Johnny never even mentions at all and neither do a lot of the fans. Many fans also need to understand that while Daniel "glazing" Miyagi like he's the god of Karate is annoying, you understand in your heart why he does because it's not only because of his "father" Miyagi, that Daniel is the man that he is today but he's also the reason why Johnny was given second chance (something that he himself literally gave to him) to become the man that he is today & wants to be & now has the family that he's always dreamt of having.

While I won't pretend I found his idolization of miyagi kinda tiresome as time went on, it also makes sense cause of how much Miyagi means to him and what he done for Daniel I feel like some people don't take that into consideration and want to spin a false narrative that grossly over exaggerated and at worst just really pathetic. But i do think your right that people have almost completely forgot what all this was based on, as a kid even i looked at myself as daniel before cobra kai even came out.
I think people was more upset about daniel glazing is because season 6 revealing that like the rest of us miyagi is just human he's just like the people he despise i.e kreese and silver miyagi has done bad things and he learned from them and became the wise man daniel came to know and daniel struggling to accept that

The writers did a nice job at sprinkling Miyagi's presence throughout the series whether through people... Or through a letter. The series has made it quite clear that Daniel has not gotten over Miyagi's death, and it's quite understandable for his character. But in all honesty, he has gone a bit overboard. This has been my opinion since the beginning of the series, but Miyagi lives through Johnny, but Daniel is too focused on Miyagi's legacy that he doesn't see it.
I do agree that the constant mentioning of Miyagi does get tiresome, but ironically so do these "glazing" edits. It's just another tedious trend and another tedious trend buzzword, first "cooked" now "glazed" and the cycle will just continue.
I full heartely agree if mr miyagi has no fans i am dead if he has one fan i am his only fan this is the miyagi do way i would gladly let mr miyagi be with my wife as he aways used to say "stroke up stroke down" rest in peace mr miyagi the best to ever come out of a woman ever
Chosen one, I like you & I do agree with a lot of what you said in this video. But I gotta disagree with you about Miyagi Do being ......"The only way". I think one of the things the show has taught is that Cobra Kai if in the right hands of people with the right intentions can be just as positive & necessary as Miyagi Do. In season one Johnny's reformed version of Cobra Kai did have some residue of Kreese's '84 & '85 Cobra Kai while still having a positive impact on the students. But by srason 2 when Johnny recognized the errors in his ways he erased that residue completely. He got rid of the negative parts of Cobra Kai like the "No Mercy". & he only held on to the positive parts of Kreese's Cobra Kai while adding new positive things of his own. Johnny's Eagle Fang he was teaching from seasons 3 to 6 was nothing but his more positive, revolutionized version of Cobra Kai that he would still be teaching under the Cobra Kai brand if he didn't lose the rights to the name. & also he eventually embraced some of Miyagi Do's ways once he got to understand it more in season 4 & merged those teachings in with his Eagle Fang teachings to make it a more balanced version of it. & like I said above, Eagle Fang is basically Cobra Kai under a different name. & even Daniel has realized since season 4 that there are parts of Eagle Fang (Cobra Kai) that are positive & have made Miyagi Do more complete. Yes they are going into the tournament as Miyagi Do. But as a more balanced & complete version of Miyagi Do that combines some of Eagle Fang's (Cobra Kai's) teachings to be a more complete version of Miyagi Do. & they will probably win the tournament as Miyagi Do. But I have a theory that at the end they will somehow all have to unite under the Cobra Kai banner. Johnny's reformed more complete & balanced version of Cobra Kai. & maybe it will be Stingray who brings it back. Johnny will get rid of the "No Mercy " part of it just like he did in season 2. & Johnny, Chozen, Miguel, Sam, Robbie, Hawk, Dimitri, Tori & all of the other young students will have to unite under Cobra Kai. But this time not in a tournament. But there will be some plot vice that makes them have to unite under the Cobra Kai name in a life or death street fighter type situation. & yes ..... Even Daniel will end up joining Cobra Kai temporarily. & then, after it's over Daniel, Chozen & some of the students will go back to Miyagi Do. & Johnny & some of the other students will go back to Cobra Kai. Now, this is all theory here. I don't know what they're gonna write. But I think it's a strong possibility that this all might go down this way. Cobra Kai has become a more balanced form of karate because of Miyagi Do's influence on it. & also Miyagi Do has become more balanced because of Cobra Kai's influence on it. I don't believe this black & white, absolute way of thinking that Miyagi Do is the only right way. Or that Eagle Fang (Cobra Kai) is the only right way. Both dojos can exist & be positive for the youth if run the right way. Hell ....., if Miyagi Do got into the wrong hands it can turn into what Kreese's Cobra Kai was in the '80's. & what Kreese & Kim Dyun has turned it back into now. But I think by the end of this Johnny & Daniel will still be tight. & they will go their separate ways (on good terms this time). Daniel will run a more complete version of Miyagi Do 'cause of Eagle Fang (Cobra Kai's) influence & Johnny will run a more complete version of Cobra Kai because of Miyagi Do's influence. I don't think for one to exist the other one's gotta go. Positive versions of both can exist & be positive for kids. But we'll see what they've written in part 2 & 3 of season 6. But, that's all I had to say Chosen. Still love your vids. I just disagree with ya a little bit on this one. But no hard feelings. Those are just my thoughts. See ya! Keep the great vids comin'. 😎👍🏾
Even tho the memes are kind of dead and annoying now Daniel seriously needs to stop bringing Mr Miyagi into every conversation like he teaches the students to keep Miyagis legacy alive Johnny teaches his students because he cares for them
find this is comming those who don't bother with the Movie or don't get it Daniel is fighting against the Karate Cult that emotionally physically and psychologically abused him, which would scar anyone for life. Through no fault of his came back & brought all the trauma with it. Whenever they did it was Mr Miyagi and MiyagiDo that saved him. Of couse he doesn't want to let it go so easally
From my opinion I said this to you already bro I say season 4 5 in a little bit of six that's where it got bad the first three seasons by Daniel was like balance when it came with the Mr miyagi talk he didn't bring it up every single situation but season 4 it was over 9,000
I disagree with the whole Miguel glazing thing in terms of wanting him to win because we started with him I think it’s a valid reason same as for Robby and him not having a proper win. That aside I do think Daniel needs a reality check when it comes to how he refuses anything but the miyagi do way which is started to cause major problems. Still tho they are taking things way to far and he is justified for his praise of miyagi it’s just getting a little annoying at this point
it is when you just keep reusing the same point like they are other reasons to have Miguel win other than it started with him so it should end with him lol😂 same thing for Robby fans who say he has to win because he hasn't won a trophy yet it's a lazy argument because you aren't even going through the character's arc and are just using a point you heard someone else use who thought that was a smart point when it's not
@@libanzihlalu2715Is it really so wrong to want Miguel to win because he was the first karate kid of the new generation. Given there are other better reasons he should win but just having a favorite and wanting that character to succeed is natural and not bad argument unless that’s your only argument. I understand why people want Robby to win but Miguel has been out in a coma and hasn’t had many good things happen to him since. He’s clearly emotionally unstable rn and I want to see him in a better place without his only accomplishment being college. That would be such a lame ending to his character and you know it. I wish there was a way both Robby and Miguel could be in the spot light cuz it seems if one succeeds the other fails and this is the final season
Cobra Kai's definitely cooler. It was swagged out how the Korean kids strutted to their spot. And the logo with the Korean characters? It wouldn't hurt to listen to Johnny and let the Miyagi squad be a little cooler.
Daniel might as well marry Mr miyagi 😂 it’s just a joke but the meme is getting annoying especially on instagram reels and I hope in part 2 Daniel doesn’t really talk about Mr miyagi and focus more on the tournament and his students and his family
Daniel’s praise for Miyagi is excessive but it’s not unwarranted and I’m sure his arc in Season 6 is to let go of his hero worship. It’s unfortunate that modern fans have completely disrespected a duo that started this whole legacy. Instead of trying to understand a behaviour, they just jump bandwagons and be completely Ignorant. And Daniel isn’t new from this, it took fans to watch Season 5 to understand why he hates Cobra Kai so much. Fans thought it was just because of the events in the first movie but it was also the third which solidified his hatred. And don’t get me started with the memes, some are funny but others are just highly inappropriate and uncomfortable to watch. This is a kid and an old man you’re making sexual jokes about, have some awareness. There even some applying it to Ralph Macchio himself in out of context clips. It shows that people are willing to do the most for views and likes. I also see these same people saying that Daniel regressed, which isn’t true. He’s actually been the most rational Sensei this season, and people are overlooking that because of the ‘Miyagi Do Way’ line which isn’t a wrong thing for him to say considering it’s a general philosophy he stands by and is meant to help the situation it’s being applied to. Johnny conflated this with Daniel’s hero worship of Miyagi, and it seems fans have done the say thing. Daniel has gotten the understanding that other styles are as significant as Miyagi Do, he even showed that in Episode 1, so him applying Miyagi-Do to certain situations he thinks are appropriate, isn’t out of stubbornness or worship of Miyagi.
Always gotta be the 12 year old Tik tokers who think this show is just all action lol But in all honesty Daniel can be annoying but from his pov he was trying to respect and keep his mentors legacy alive sure hes a lil stuck up but thats the beauty in showing Flaws of a man with good intentions Can't even understand how someone can edit the scene where Daniel follows Miyagi in the airport to accompany him to Owkinwa and give the glaze context? Braindead
Oh goodness I wonder every night on a constant basis what mr miyagis feet mustve smelt like roses and pettles maybe a little Asian tang? Who knows not glazing by the way!
I don't know or care about this new fangle term "glazing". As far as I'm concerned, that applies to donuts not people. The issue here isn't Daniel's relationship with or to Mr. Miyagi, the issue is Idiot fans who refuse to respect that relationship simply because they have a preference for Johny. These Idiot fans really believe that they can ignore (even rewrite) the origin, the history and the context of The Karate Kid while still fanning out over Cobra Kai (because Cobra Kai is Johny's story); but THERE WOULD BE NO COBRA KAI without The Karate Kid. THERE WOULD BE NO JOHNY'S STORY without the legacy of Miyagi, and his relationship with Daniel. The fans who are running with this stupid "glazing " narrative, lack respect. They're immature, and they're BIASED. Favoring one character doesn't mean you have to hate, bash, disrespect and/or apply revisionist history to another. In lamence terms; just because you love Johny doesn't mean you have to hate Daniel (or Sam for that matter). Just because you relate to Johny doesn't mean there aren't people who relate to Daniel. Just because Daniel halfway has his ish together, and Johny is still trying to pull himself out of loser territory, doesn't mean Daniel is deserving of your vitriol. That's really what this whole thing boils down to. Daniel is by no means a perfect man; but he is a rather noble one. And he has a fairly satisfying life. A great career, a great home life, a great wife, and good kids. All things Johny is still trying to get (he's on his way, but he's not quite there yet), and frankly, Johny's terribly ignorant, obtuse and immature antics are what give him such a hard way to go. Especially when someone like Daniel comes back into his life and reminds him of all the things he wants to be, but isn't. Johny fans resent Daniel because he had a more fortunate experience than Johny. Daniel had Miyagi while Johny had Kreese. Daniel completed his tournament days with a win while Johny completed his with a loss. Fans want so badly for Daniel to be the villain in all this, because we live in an age where people are hell bent on calling what is good, bad; and what is bad, good. The Larusso's are good people. They are not perfect. They make mistakes. But they try to be good and do things the right way (though sometimes it backfires), and that is the reason some of these one dimensional fans can't stand them, and look for any and every reason to rip them to shreds. Some people are evidently not mature enough to watch this show. They either don't know or don't respect the lore that the show is based on. And, they don't understand (nor do they want to understand) the nuance of a character like Daniel. They're too busy identifying with all of the things that make Johny problematic. There's the irony. Johny is just as if not more problematic than Daniel, but the fans overlook that because Cobra Kai is Johny's under dog story. Well, The Karate Kid was Daniel's, and the least fans can do is respect that. But alas, they won't.
Glazing. Another stupid zoomer buzz word. Sick of hearing it.🙄. There would be NO cobra kai or Johnny lawrence story WITHOUT Daniel Larusso. If Ralph didnt return there'd be no cobra kai. It simply wouldn't work. I'm also sick of hearing "it started with Miguel and Johnny" No it f'n didnt. It started with Miyagi and Daniel. In regards to mentioning Mr Miyagi a lot yes he does sometimes put him on a pedestal but i think thats understandable. I think it naturally occurs sometimes when someone has passed. You tend to only think of the good and and hero qualities. And yes sometimes ninhave rolled my eyes or laughed when hes mentioned Miyagi for thr 500th time lol. But it's also part of Daniels journey as he freels an enormous responsibility to keep Miyagis legacy alive. And also parg if his journey and realisation in season 6 eill be to understand and accept that Miyagi wasnt perfect. And to finally be able to relax and take that perfection pressure of himself and by extension, others around him. To stop holding Miyagi, himself etc to impossible standards. Lastly, the big 3, Ralph and Billy all wanted Miyagi to be woven through the season and always present. It's hard to do that without having him and his lessons mentioned consistently. 🤷♀️ And Daniel is really the only prrson who can do that. Aside from maybe Julie Pierce but shes not be in the previous seasons.
Bottom line is that they can’t have or don’t have the ability to look at the show in such a special way that this community and Jacob’s channel can, and really look at the show deeply. To deeply understand the franchise with that heartfelt touch. It’s crazy

Why is no one talking about the sick ass tag team match we’re gonna get with Miguel and Robby for part 2 tho

I think Daniel does glaze Miyagi
But I think Miyagi was awesome enough to be glazed
I'd glaze him too
Even tho the memes are kind of dead and annoying now Daniel seriously needs to stop bringing Mr Miyagi into every conversation like he teaches the students to keep Miyagis legacy alive Johnny teaches his students because he cares for them
Did they really just retcon Mr. Miyagi's date of birth to 1918?
This is ridiculous. Almost as ridiculous as people saying Mr. Miyagi's portrayal is racist.
find this is comming those who don't bother with the Movie or don't get it Daniel is fighting against the Karate Cult that emotionally physically and psychologically abused him, which would scar anyone for life. Through no fault of his came back & brought all the trauma with it. Whenever they did it was Mr Miyagi and MiyagiDo that saved him. Of couse he doesn't want to let it go so easally
Without mr Miyagi there would not be the Cobra kai serie , and mr Miyagi/Pat Morita is a miss in this Cobra Kai serie .
From my opinion I said this to you already bro I say season 4 5 in a little bit of six that's where it got bad the first three seasons by Daniel was like balance when it came with the Mr miyagi talk he didn't bring it up every single situation but season 4 it was over 9,000
Julie Pierce is the true heiress of Miyagi-Do Karate, because she doesn't glaze Mr. Miyagi that much.
Still tho they are taking things way to far and he is justified for his praise of miyagi it’s just getting a little annoying at this point
it is when you just keep reusing the same point like they are other reasons to have Miguel win other than it started with him so it should end with him lol😂 same thing for Robby fans who say he has to win because he hasn't won a trophy yet it's a lazy argument because you aren't even going through the character's arc and are just using a point you heard someone else use who thought that was a smart point when it's not
@libanzihlalu2715 exactly man there are definitely better reasons why Robby or Miguel should win it.
Cobra Kai as a show is receiving a fuckton of hate
Always gotta be the 12 year old Tik tokers who think this show is just all action lol
But in all honesty Daniel can be annoying but from his pov he was trying to respect and keep his mentors legacy alive sure hes a lil stuck up but thats the beauty in showing Flaws of a man with good intentions
Can't even understand how someone can edit the scene where Daniel follows Miyagi in the airport to accompany him to Owkinwa and give the glaze context? Braindead
By their logic I guess Miguel glazes for Johnny
I think a lot of people are just trying to be funny
“Do u like the egg-roll Daniel-san?”
People forget miyagi is way older, and that makes the joke honesty mest up and not that funny
I feel like Kreese and Silver’s feet smell. What do you think?
Oh goodness I wonder every night on a constant basis what mr miyagis feet mustve smelt like roses and pettles maybe a little Asian tang? Who knows not glazing by the way!

I hate the Daniel haters so much that's another reason I'm happy the show is ending.
I think that Mr. Miyagi was a lot worse than Kwon when he was younger. That’s probably how he eventually changed into the Miyagi we know today.

Yeah, but he still acting like a bully regardless, if the if Daniel is the karate kid or not, he still acting like the bully
Danielles obsession of miyagi is creppy we dont see any other charcters talk or their role models in the miyagiverse with that kind of obsession
...who in the show has had a real role model?
@@phillwilliams2781thank you
Glazing. Another stupid zoomer buzz word. Sick of hearing it.🙄.
There would be NO cobra kai or Johnny lawrence story WITHOUT Daniel Larusso. If Ralph didnt return there'd be no cobra kai. It simply wouldn't work.
I'm also sick of hearing "it started with Miguel and Johnny"
No it f'n didnt.
And Daniel is really the only prrson who can do that. Aside from maybe Julie Pierce but shes not be in the previous seasons.
