      Yep agree 100% but it would be nice if you'd slow down the video every once in a while, but amazing craftmanship and interesting video!

    Marek, either your markers are indeed magic, or you have a deep sense of design. It seems magic: watching you make a few simple marks on steel or wood, then coaxing beautiful art from those simple materials. Thanks for taking time to post your magic.

    Just a small idea, I know, it would take some time, but for hobbyists, I think it would be great if you add some caption about how much time really spent on each process. Making a Viking axe took 8 minutes on this video, but I guess it took 2 days or more in reality. Also some advice about what you've used, for example spraying the handle, gluing the head to the handle, etc, etc. Just some caption or a short desc. to the video.
    Anyways, it is again a great tutorial how to start making great stuff w/o professional equipments. thx a lot!

    Its a nice little skjeggøks/bearded axe!
    Quite effective against human targets, not so much chopping wood. Especially helmet wearing foes.

  • @Lammedreng
    @Lammedreng 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    6:25 When fitting the axe head you wanna hit the bottom of the handle and *not* the head itself

    • @LifeOnHoth
      @LifeOnHoth 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      why? I saw others also doing that and was wondering why. :)

    • @Lammedreng
      @Lammedreng 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You get a more even fit which reduces the risk of the head coming loose later. Additionally you avoid any deformation of the eye of the axe head.

    • @felixhaimson8921
      @felixhaimson8921 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually it seems to perform quite well, though it probably could use some sharpening

    • @VampireShogun
      @VampireShogun 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Actually I have to say that you're wrong. Its head is way to thick as well as the cutting surface is way to small for it to be a proper battle axe.
      Furthermore it has a very typical felling axe handle. Pretty much all examples of battle axe handles are oval in shape and completely straight to maximise reach.
      It's design is more like a hatchet or maybe even a tomahawk but not at all a viking battle ax.
      That said it's still a fucking beautiful axe.

    • @tweakohgy4471

    Okay. That looks lovely an everything but I have some issues. One of them being that you didn't Actually make the axe head. You just polished and reshaped an old one. Probably only making the axe less useful as you are removing weight.
    For what it looks like I'd give it a good 8 out of 10.
    As for the actual making of it I'd only be able to offer a 4 out of 10

      True, at 7:31 you can see the end grain running exactly 90 degrees out of correct position. This will shorten the life of the ax handle, but I enjoyed the work on the old ax.

      The grain is wavy but it's straight. Do you know what type of wood it is? No? I didn't see any notation as to what species of wood it is, so how do you KNOW what the wood will do?
