The host and compare for the dance contest was jive teacher Kav Kavanagh. Simon Moon was the DJ. The songs he played in order were..... Larry Williams: Slow Down (1958). Ba Ba Thomas: Miss Shake It (1964). Yes I'm Lovin You: Al Downing (1964). Rock-a-beatin Boogie: Bill Haley (1952). Cottonpickin (instrumental): Mickey Hawks (1959) and the winners dance was..... WOW, I could watch this winning couple all day. They were head and shoulders above the rest. This is how I remember the best boppers doing their thing. She is gorgeous, and real ball of energy, and he is a good looking bloke with all the dance moves. CONGRATULATIONS!!!

WOW,WOW. lol Just read that the winning couple had never danced together before that weekend. I thought they were a married couple who had danced together for years. How the hell did they do it, they never put a foot wrong all night. MARVELLOUS!!!
This is a late reply John, I was living in Australia at the time but now I’m back home in Barnsley, a lot of water has gone under the bridge since then lol anyway I hope you’re keeping good and still rocking, you probably never saw that lass Georgia again then ?, I wonder if she is still as slim and good looking ?

giorgia and john well deserved that they were awesome and totally on cue with one another i knew from the start of the video they would win because they were that good , i used to dance like this when i was younger but this pair all i can say is well done totally deserved, keep rockin

Yup me too, I thought theywere the best couple right at the start. That is amazing if they have never danced as a couple before! Their energy was the best! The girl was going a bit off balance on the spins, like Craig Revel-Horwood would be cross about her spaghetti arms and so not sure she is actually A Good Dancer, but they were the best.
Maybe it's just me, but I think the third place couple should have been first.

The wrong couple won. Why didn't the third placed couple win? They were the best. Could it be that the winner was blonde and their shirts matched??? If so - shame to the judges! This wasn't about the best dancing.
I like it but I prefer Lindy, when I watch that it looks more loose.
love lindy. i cant do it myself, but i do a sort of simplified lindy/swing step when i dance to rock n roll music. i think it gives you way more options for moves than the 2 beat step and push pull that a lot of rockers think is the only proper rock n roll dance. you dont see much variation here..just underarm passes and spins with a few turns.
+wiggawithattitude yeah man, just a few lindyish moves can really spice it up.
The whole point of this video is that it is specifically about 1950s style rock 'n' roll jiving, (at a 50s themed rockin'/rockabilly/rock 'n' roll music weekender) It has absolutely NOTHING to do with Lindy, which has it's own themed events. iI am not knocking Lindy which I really like, but it is a completely separate thing altogether.
+PonytailRuth plenty of folks in the 50s were still doing swing and lindy steps. if anything this style developed more later on in the revival eras.
They're also really, really related steps wise, which is why there's a cross-over.
The better they are the quicker they wear out.

DJ whoever you are nothing against you but your choice of records for a dance competition was awful
The dancing is awful,have they all been to the same dance school or what. I call this the Kav crap,NOT ONE of them are into the feel of the music or dancing from their heart they are all just going through the motions
