As an office worker all my life, this episode has been very very relatable and the tea on the office affair is super exciting hahaha. More of these content
During poly internships, in an MNC 1 day after the internship started, supervisor brought us into a room and said that reporting time for work was 8:30...just 1 month later, we realise 3/4 of the office was not around at 8:30. Everyone started strolling in around close to 9. As interns, we saw the supervisors also strolling casually in at 9. WIthin 2 months...we followed suite and only reported to work at 9. 1 week after start of internship, same supervisor that told us that slippers are not to be worn. just as we walked out of the meeting room. we saw several colleagues wearing slippers. within the week, one of my other intern friends decided to wear slippers. both supervisor and boss saw said intern friend with slippers. both had no reactions. 1 month after start of internship, same supervisor that told us intern we could not watch yt videos on company time. One day, she was watching a yt videos on company time. boss walked pass. no reaction. after 2 months, we realise..what she said, was never enforced..and she and the boss neither cared. all of us intern finished the internship and got A for our intern grading Internship during poly made me realise. Some people are in positions to retire and they are the most non-chalant ones
wow Ryan has matured a lot and speaks for both sides of the story. to Fel : K may have forgotten about if she swamped as well. Have u forgotten to do things as well? Totally agree with Nigel that it is your responsiblity to follow up closely and arrange a time not sounding out at last min. Understand that this is your second day at work and you have much more to learn.
Personally, I felt that since MCs are entitlements. It should NOT even be regarded as a performance issue. It should strictly be considered on the quality of work and productivity done. Using MCs as a reason for poor appraisals is simply unethical and a lazy way of evaluating staffs. The question is… Is a healthier and unproductive worker whom always shows up and screws things up a better worker OR one that uses up their entitlements but produces good work the majority of the time during work??
Thank you! I really enjoyed this segment - you guys are also getting so good at it! It so unfiltered, funny, candid yet infused with deep introspections at times!!! Shoutout to Nigel for his mature answers at times!
NIgel's comment for the story at 30:00. VERY VERY mature of him to see things that way; I'm so impressed. Truly a takeaway Gen Zs need to remember. As I have been in the workforce for almost 2 yrs now, this was definitely something no one taught me until that "betrayal" happened.
I have heard about how people tackle micromanaging bosses or kaypo-to-the-extend people, just update every min in your life what you are doing. Even going to the toilet or what you plan to eat. LOL Confirm after sometime they will find you annoying.
being in healthcare industry, first thing that came to mind about K is that K simply forgot about it. sometimes things get hectic and what we said we will do really just slip our minds.. but true, even if we forgot, usually we will rmb maybe when we reach home, then K shud have still msged fel abt it..
During my time in an MNC, i have got to work even when i am on mc, even to the extend of bringing my laptop with me to Brisbane, Japan , etc to work despite being on AL. Not forgetting , having to work during maternity leave with the condition of working at home but work in the morning and on maternity leave in the afternoon but i need to reply to all work email and calls. Like nani. HR department bth directly under the director
For the last story, it's bothering the MD because their performance is lacking..... If they have the affair but numbers are up, the MD will heck care......
Ohhh hehe. That was about 10 years ago. Staff nurses are expected to take 10-12 depending on hospital ): sad life as nurses ): so I sympathise with that OP. The colleague damn Rabak sia
Btw nothing wrong with being young at a workplace. Young does = not as capable / not knowledgeable / not good enough compared to oldies w entitled and bad attitude. The majority of the team currently at overkill is also young, no?
