In today's video I'm talking about 10 spring 2024 fashion trends I WON'T be buying. This is because I simply don't like the trend, I don't think it would be timeless, or I simply already own it, so I don't need to buy it. What trends will you NOT be buying?

I really like your approach to fashion. When it comes to the 2024 trends I will not definitely wear capri pants (but I had to admit that when I was a teenager I used to wear them but not anymore they do not look good on my silhouette). The same with sheer skirts I do not like this trend. Pastel color does not fit my skin tone. But I am a big fan of pencil skirts and I wear them all year so they never go out of my wardrobe, I feel good in them.Double waistbanded pants , for me it's a strange trend. I have never had a polo shirt maybe I will try it but as you said I can get is thrifted :) thanks for the video

definitely won't be buying any of those you mentioned (some for the same reason, like tie and capri teenage ennui) but I gasped at the last one - DOUBLE PANTSING? it must be the worst idea since jeans-and-pants-butt-cutouts for sure 😆

Still doing my no buy year … it’s tough. I have been craving thrifting & I miss buying books. Luckily I only care to sprinkle in trends if I already like them & now they’re more accessible so nothing is tempting me about spring trends 🤷🏻‍♀️

Best point you made: "Where is this going to be worn?" I think that's the bottom line when I add to or "cleanse" my wardrobe. I gotta be able to wear a look to places and functions I actually attend ❤.

This really got me when people were talking about the underwear as pants "trend". Like who actually wore that and where were they going? No one and no where. It was just people taking pictures for Instagram, which is fine but it's not actually a trend.

So happy for the "anti-haul" concept and the "thrift this yourself" tip. We have enough already. Supporting your local thrift store that in turn supports the community is a good idea, though, if you need to buy something -- in my opinion.

I'm a millennial and I LOVE capris. So happy they're back. I'm pretty tall so I don't have to worry about the "looking short" thing that I hear a lot of people say. I also don't feel very comfortable showing off my legs a lot in shorts now as a 40-ish woman. Capris help me feel summery and not burning up hot, but also give me enough coverage.

The new trend: Saying no to trends! I love that when they tried to bring back low waisted pants and skinny jeans, consumers said "Um, no." I'm all for a wardrobe refresh, but why should we buy into what we don't love and what is new for the sake of it? The goal is to make you feel "so last year" so that they can keep you spending. It's so wasteful and bad for the environment. Wear what you love.

  • @kimberlyberlin4999

I think capri pants are a definite NO but I love an ankle length pant and will wear those forever. I personally don't think they're the same thing. Also, a white dress is nice and I don't see how it's a trend so I'll be wearing that too.

I love how you often point out that we might already have something along these lines in our own closets- very helpful indeed! As a middle aged person, it is very interesting to see just how often certain looks come around again…. Kind of weird, but also logical as there are only so many lengths, widths, etc. a garment can be 😂. I’m pleased when I discover an “old” well made and well worn garment I already own is suddenly “in” again. And I appreciate your shop your closet take time and time again.

Those clothes with 3d roses build in are going to be outdated like... tommorow. Definitely not buying into that, although I like the cliche spring = flowers. Maybe because I live in a place with distinct seasons and at this point I'm desperate to see flowers and blooming trees.

Trends usually puzzle me anyway, unless I see them and say "wow! that is really me!" which is usually never. ha. My own trend (meaning what i'm trending toward now) is just not buying more stuff. Really practicing just loving what i already have, and moving on. Being dissatisfied with my closet, especially in Spring, would have been usual for me at this point in the calendar year. Oh, polo shirts - they're not a trend for me, they're in my wardrobe and come out every summer. I just don't buy them in the colours that I used to - but then, I've toned my colours down overall to softer more muted shades than I used to wear.

I love when cropped pants are popular because I have a super short inseam and can buy pants without needing to alter them. Although, I finally decide that my capris really aren’t working and then I learn they’re on trend? Figures.
11:06 I just gasped out loud! This headline stabbed me in my soul. I despise polo shirts with a passion; they are so uncomfortable. I always feel like I’m being strangled by the collar, even when the buttons are undone. I also wear tank tops 99% of the time because I don’t like the feel of fabric on my skin. You can say polos are in but you can’t diss my tank tops like that!
Honestly, I love hearing about trends but I ignore all of them and wear what makes me happy!

I won't be wearing any of these trends and I totally agree with you about wearing the colors that look good on you and ignoring the "color of the year". Another trend I've been seeing that I do not like is barrel leg pants. Now, I do like an ankle length pant or jean (not capris) and I've been wearing those and will continue to do so. It took me a while to get on board with them but being petite I like the way they look and they can highlight your shoes. Kudos to you Christina for showing such diversity in your models. You are the best!

Some of these I’m happy about because I’ve actually missed them! I have some really good pieces from about a decade ago that felt so dated and few years ago but I just couldn’t let go. Happy to see them back, even just from an availability standpoint! I won’t be doing very many of these but I do like some of the shapes (tailored shorts, pencil skirt). Thanks for another great video Christina!

Nicely done summary of the trends and I like your take on the ones that you can easily replicate using thrift store purchases. I have a pencil midi skirt in my closet from a couple of years ago so Im going to give it a go. As for capris - they are a no for me at 5'4". You can easily roll up the legs of a light chinos pants if you want the look!

My personal no buy this season - and it is indeed a new piece that we haven't seen before - is the mesh ballerina. I just think it looks stupid and if I want to show my toes I'll wear sandals.

I personally adore a long-sleeved polo and was very on board when this was kind of a winter trend, and also find the idea of a more modest suit-short with a blazer or maybe a sweater over the shoulders to be really endearing. But you did so well snapping me back to reality. My office is old fashioned and shorts of ANY material will likely not be tolerated.

I watch fashion and clothing videos because I'm trying to find my own personal style (am working on my 3 words 😊). But the more I watch these kinds of videos whether they are made by you Christina or Alyssa, Signe or any other content creator that pops up in my feed the more I realise how little I know what the trends actually are or have been😲
I don't like shopping for clothes, I don't follow any celebrities and have never been interested in what's trending. I just want to find clothes that I like, that fit, that are made of (soft) natural materials (my skin is very sensitive and has never liked synthetics), that look good on me and that I feel good in (as in that are both comfortable and feel like me). That is, and has always been, such a struggle in and of itself that I'm grateful that I've never sought to get into any trends 😅
But thanks for keeping me somewhat up to date 😁 🌺

I think if you want to build your style, you need to disregard trends and figure what you like and begin to build on that. For me, I like colour and patterns, some aesthetics like Victorian style, ruffles, embroidery. I’m still figuring out which pairings I like and what outfits to make with my clothes. I’ve done a moodboard to help me where I picked the colours I like, photos of outfits I like, pictures of outfits that I have worn which I liked, certain celebrity style icons I love - putting together their images and noting what I like. I do watch trend stuff but I find it can influence me into liking things I don’t really like then if I wore those things I wouldn’t feel like myself. I do think it’s helpful because I like to see how people style their clothes but I find finding your style also needs a lot of introspection. Maybe you can start building your own moodboard to start figuring it out. I hope this helps!

@@bbappzz98 Thank you so much for taking the time to reply! 😌 Trust me I couldn't care less about trends!! Or what colours are in or out and so on. I just found it very fascinating to realise how little I am interested in trends and how much others seem to feel the want or need to keep up with them, even if they then choose to not take part or "buy" into them. And either way is fine as far as I'm concerned. It actually helps *me* find what resonates with me or not when I see or hear what others think, like etc. whether it's a trend or a personal preference.
I agree that introspection is absolutely necessary because there's always a fantasy self lurking in the background 😅
As I wrote in my 1st comment I'm working on my 3 styling words. I'm also interested in colour analysis so I'm taking that into account as well, as well as body shape/type. Add onto that personality, likes/dislikes etc. Lots of different puzzle pieces which I hope will soon come together 🤞🏻
It's funny because you and I are obviously on total opposites of the spectrum: I don't wear any colour (I hope that I'll be able to address that...), I don't like patterns, ruffles, embroidery or anything like that... on me. It doesn't mean that I don't like it as a general aesthetic, the Victorian style can look amazing, it's just not my personal style 😌
I have started to gather a few pictures on Pinterest, I found some old clippings from magazines that I still feel resonate... It's a work in progress 😊
Wishing you the best with your own moodboard and that you find a way to embrace the style and aesthetic that you are drawn to and that you can give it all your own personal twist 😊💜🌺

So my rose print lace pencil skirt dress that’s transparent from the thigh down is tripple stylish now? I thrifted it in my goth era, wore it to a school dance and a few weddings and was close to decluttering it 😆

I love a polo shirt in an unconventional way personally. You are 100% on the money with the styling being key , not necessarily the item. I like to style them with an edgy chain belt, or tied with a high waisted pant and combat boots.

I feel like when I hang out with friends I have to spend AT LEAST $15 minimum, and I’m really struggling with money so it’s like I just can’t even afford to have friends right now😅 Any advice on cheap/free activities and how to voice out concerns and financial constraints with friends would be appreciated!

Yeah I think it’s really cool to see how people reimagine things that have been trendy in the past but it seems really hard to pull off unless you’re in the fashion industry or a celeb. In normal daily life and depending on where you live, most of the time I feel like people just don’t get fashion trend concepts and are super literal.

Definitely will participate in the butter yellow trend . I got a butter yellow matching set from Aritzia last year that I didn't get the chance to wear and I was recently gifted a butter yellow Ralph Lauren bomber. I don't plan on buying new pieces maybe accessories like socks to wear with clogs or headband . I feel like this trend is nice but in small doses, not trying to look like a baby chick.

Omg, I get so in the mood for buying in the spring due to winter depression lifting and I feel like coming out of a cave. But it's not happening....full break after taking a fat loan for a luxury purchase. It kinda dawned upon me the seriousness when this is my situation. Need to break so it doesn't spiral out of control with interest and shit. Huff.

I definitely agree with you reagarding capri jeans, a real "no-go" for me. However, it's different with ankle length jeans and pants, which - for spring and summer - I really appriciate, because you can see much better your footwear and it's not so warm like in full lenghts trousers.
A trend you didn't mention are ballon jeans, what do you think about them? I still am not sure, somehow I like them, on the other hand I think they will not last for long 🤔
