    Greedy?
is this that trait, you get stress constantly? Gift? Stress. Murder and bribe agents? Stress. And so on and so on.

I would hesitate to put Greedy so high because of all the stress gain. That being said, if you can pair it with Arbitrary (and ideally with a trait that increases stress loss) I can absolutely see how it could be so high.

    some combos also suck
    i.e:
any action in certain events raise stress...

I wonder if the trait prices were balanced for Christian characters. A lot of Christian virtues are low on the tier list unless you give them that bump.

I can see what you mean, but Honestly I think its more based on reality rather than balance, like historically being kind got you nowhere unless the church was involved, Being brave could lead to you becoming legend but more often than not got you killed with no one remembering your name, moderation is well known to increase life span, and if you were sadistic well, there was plenty of jobs available for you to enjoy your desires, legally too, and lastly if you didnt enjoy talking to people, good luck bettering your life.
But it is called "Crusader Kings" so yknow there probably is some truth to it.

@@tuskular I do like how the game models a reign of terror though, a high dread character will cow almost all opposition, but his heir will mess everything up due to opinion being heritable while dread isn't, much like Longhshanks.

I tried playing with paranoid in my most recent game, kept dying at 59 due to being stuck at very edge of level 2 stress... with almost no feasible ways of lowering stress.

I remember one of the first times I was making a character, I was almost done and hovering around 410 points. I was like "oh, wait! I'll take the gluttonous trait for some negative points to balance it out." I was very surprised that it not only cost points, but a whopping 20 points. Dang.

I play diplomacy and learning builds which are high stress accumulators from their ideal traits (as you said), but I use their tech trees to drive stress loss (patriarch and whole of body trees). You can also avoid a lot of stress from unjust actions by planning how you organise your kingdom, so there is less need for murdering, imprisoning or tyranny. Swaying everyone who is important means I don't need to party at all, but I do wonder now if shy impacts sway and befriend? I'd have to check
I'd also think that adding life span by hitting octogenarians in the dynastic traits or going for robust genetic traits helps with reducing the stress effect on longevity.
It occurred to me that the paranoid trait is fine if you go the torturer route and kidnap rivals for some alone time in the dungeons.

6:32 well I recommend generous as a king or emperor, and any ruler of a polygamous/concubinage faith because whenever you’re stressed, you can just send money. Since emperors make lots, you can reduce stress without needing constant feasts. Constant feasts make you a revealer, which makes it impossible to you to choose chastity when you unlock that decision to prevent any heirs. And it’s useful if you have several siblings that die, just as rulers that can have several spouses/concubines, and thus many kids. If you can’t host a feast because of the lockdown, you can just give money away to a lowborn. The amounts for lowborn characters is little, so you’ll lose lots of stress for little money. I used to dislike it. Now I love it! I can take any decision that gives me stress and get rid of it quickly

I dislike patient it gives you a ton of stress whenever you do ANYTHING! I thought the hostile scheme resistance and learning is a nice bonus but you stack crazy amounts of stress with this.

I can't help but wonder if the reason Arbitrary is so good is because it's supposed to match up with the player's personality. After all, how many of us do what we consider to be optimal, regardless of stress gain/what it would make sense for the character to do? An arbitrary character is essentially channeling the powers of Meta to have an easier time acting in the way that their puppetmaster decides.

Arbitrary is ok not that good ambitious brave temerate are the only traits with arguments for s tier

  • @sgriffin3248

Lmao, Sadistic is overrated. Doesn’t matter if you have 100 dread. Brave/ambitious vassals will still plot against you. Therefore, sadistic belongs in C tier because it’s easy for vassals to have the brave or ambitious trait and nullify all your dread. Plotting against your children is nothing special. You can simply force them as knights, split them off from your main army, and force them into a suicide battle. You can do the same for bothersome vassals too. No need to get a trait that cost 40 points simply for dread.
