@@leyrua I went to a school that proudly wears the name of a resistance fighter from the Nazi era. He and his friends produced and distributed pamphlets that questioned and called out what the regime did. They were young students, late teens, early twenties. They were caught, imprisoned, tortured and ultimately murdered by the Nazis.
My school really focused on teaching us about those horrifying times, field trips to concentration camps f.e. and we invited holocaust survivors every year to talk about what they had to suffer through. I'll never forget that sweet old lady - frail, tiny, with that 'aaaw, let me hug you, you adorable granny' - vibe - who told us her story. How she, her family, friends and neighbors harrased at first, then later rounded up and transported in a train to Auschwitz. At the gates, where they 'sorted' people, she saw the elderly, sick and male members of her family and friend group the last time. Her twin daughters were taken from her. She never saw them again and she did not know what happened to them (I hope she never heard a word about the vile experiments that happened). She witnessed all of the family and friends that were left wither away from starvation, sickness and being grossly overworked. She was the only one of her whole family that survived.
This horror began with Hitler being legitimately VOTED into parliament. With his devoted and armed goons at his command and several attempts of a coup d'etat later, there was no more voting or democracy. The similarities are just way too eerie to not be worried about.
We absolutely have to vote this monster out. Make a plan to vote & then make a backup plan. Offer your friends a ride to the polls (wear a mask, be safe). Download movies to your phone, you're probably gonna wait a while. But no matter what, cast your ballot.

Trump entering and leaving the hospital is an election stunt. I doubt his covid test results being exactly as reported as well. The whole point of this was to show that the pandemic is nothing to worry about so that elections can be held in person as normal and the vote can be manipulated more easily. He now has the talking point of being a "survivor" which he'll use to impress undecideds and rally his base to "stand back and stand by"

I can’t imagine living in a place where covid is treated like the flu, it seems third word to have that many people catching it and so many dying. To have the president actually go out while infectious is mind boggling.
I’m in Queensland Australia we freak out if there is one case, the recent outbreak was scary it was about 11 cases- total, not daily -now back to 0 because heaps got tested and we take heaps of precautions.
Our one bad state is Victoria - it’s been on lockdown and cases are now at 15 reported today - still way to high, but per a person America overshadows it.
I hope Americans beat covid but I don’t see how when your leaders arnt even trying.

Seriously. When I had COVID in February, I couldn’t get a test to save my life. Literally. My roommate thought I was dying, I was sort of afraid I was too, and I couldn’t get a test, or even a ride to the ER. My local fire station was quarantined and unable to be tested, and my hospital was full of other COVID victims dying like flies. All as fuckface told everyone it was just like the flu. Kirkland, WA.

Seth, if you read this, I just want you to know that I'm watching every one of these videos with you.
I don't especially want to. They're depressing, they're stressful, and they make me want to despair about the future. But choosing not to watch, to turn off the outside world just isn't an option you have. Your job, and your ability to reach millions gives you a responsibility to stay immersed, neck deep in this depressing news environment. Maybe a greater responsibility than you ever imagined being a late night comedian would demand. Almost certainly a greater one than anybody could've prepared for.
You've kept reading one bleak news report after another, doing the research and learning details, and you've kept finding ways to share it with all of us.
I think about that, how strenuous it must be, and how you keep diving back into the news for more. So even when I want to cut the video off and turn away, I remember that you don't really have that choice. So I watch each video from beginning to end as they're released, just so you're not the only one getting buried in an avalanche of bad news.
And I wanted to tell you all of this so that you can know your messages of solidarity and empathy have reached at least one person. May that knowledge give you some comfort on especially tough days.

Seth and his team totally made it work. It was funny, ridiculous, intimate, and reliable. There was something oddly comfy about the whole affair....a nice 20 minutes to look forward to at a time when I was in quarantine, at home all the time, and genuinely worried about the future of...everything. I'll honestly look back on those episodes very fondly for years to come....
