I have all emulators loaded and configured. I want to use Daijisho but I’m having some problems. For example, when I click on PS2, it’s supposed to load AetherSX2. Instead of going directly to the ROM, it just takes me to the list of games instead, or will not load Aether at all. All of the emulators work fine by themselves so that tells me the problem is either with Daijisho. I’ve already checked the player selected to make sure those are all correct. Any ideas on how to resolve this? I see several other people of posted the same problem on Reddit, but no solution.
For someone like me who has never touched an android device in my life, this video has been so helpful in just understanding not only Odin setup, but just basic Android menu finding and where to go for what, what things are called, what new types of tools are standard on an android device. thank you!
WOW, I Love Retro Gaming! Seriously its so kewl. I picked myself up a Odin 2 pro and never played any of my old retro games for years. Im not ever sure really why, but.....a little while ago I really wanted to find another hobby. I have been gaming in VR since 2014 and have been a hardcore VR enthusiast since then. Haven't touched a pancake (flatgame) since 2015. I just need a little break from everyday use of sticking something on my head. So I had a thought of bringing back some of my memories of old school gaming and found this. Thank You Joey for this tutorial, I some how got 3 SNES games working on The Odin 2 and never have touched a retro digital gameing handheld in my 51 years. I am so much in love, (even just playing the 3 games ) from my old SNES System, in Digital, in my hands...FUN FUN FUN.
Thank you Joey! I received the device a week ago but I had no idea how to set some of the emulators up properly. I was just fumbling around until I got things looking okay. Didn't realize I can upscale the resolution and the difference is night and day.
I really felt you dying inside after about 20m. Thanks for the sacrifice, lol. My Odin 2 Base shipped and should arrive on Tuesday. I'm looking forward to the RPG dream machine!
Finally someone who also ordered base odin 2. Mine has been shipped and tracking number provided to me on my email *Gmail* I waited 3 weeks for shipping as I bought it on 26th October.. Don't get me wrong I personally would love 10gb of ram on the base but pro 12gb ram and max odin 2 16gb ram is overkill. And you personally don't need more than 8gb of ram if you plan on playing ps2, GameCube, wii, DreamCast and retro consoles like ps1 n psp. as for yuzu and skyline gets more updates in the future. I think odin 2 base 8gb ram model would be able to run 90% of Switch games. And I personally bought base odin 2 to play ps2, gcn, wii, DreamCast, Saturn, at full speed. I already have switch oled with tons of games so I didn't see the need to buy 12gb ram Pro model or the max!
Joey - I posted this on the discord, but also wanted to share here to give you a proper shoutout. Here is my review of the Odin 2 Mini: So I just wanted to share this here...I received my Odin 2 Mini yesterday and spent the evening setting it up and finally playing it. I've got it right next to me here and am about to boot it up. It works great with retro games (of course) but also pretty well with Steam Link setup if you want to do some couch gaming. I used Joey's Retro Handhelds setup tutorial, and found it so helpful to actually get up and running quickly. Despite it being for the Odin 2, since the Mini is near identical except for form factor/screen the setup video worked perfectly. Joey if you're in here you're awesome! All I can say is this is the one - this is the retro handheld I've been waiting so long for. It's perfect and is such a pleasure to use. I see myself using this as my main device for years to come, even as the field advances. Gosh, I even want to buy a second one for my brother if I could afford it. He would love the hell out of this thing. Others have come close...I've been going retro on a PSP Go which is great and also own an Anbernic RG405m (which is a fantastic device too, no shade thrown here!)...but the Odin 2 Mini is an instant winner. It's such a powerhouse in a portable form factor and it feels so premium. The main gripes most reviewers have listed in their videos do exist which I've experienced, but in reality when using the device they are so tiny and barely noticeable. You most likely just won't care when actually gaming. For all those waiting who haven't received their device yet...be patient. But know that when it finally does come you are going to love it! 🙂

My Odin 2 base was just delivered 10 minutes ago, 4 days early :o Can I take the microSD card from my Odin Lite and use it as is in the Odin 2 or will I have to reformat it?
Can you format the MicroSD card on a PC first without having any trouble using it in Odin 2? I'm asking because I want to copy my roms onto my MicroSD card ahead of time so that when I get my Odin 2, I'll be ready to go. Thanks!
From Daijisho? Either the wrong core is set or you're not exiting your previous game properly via retroarch hotkey. Pushing home to exit RetroArch isn't the right way.
Yes, when I’m trying to play the game from Daijisho the screen changes as if to play a game on Retroarch but then goes black. The cores match the ones you set and all. But I’ve never been able to even start playing a game to be able to quit it via hotkeys. Not sure what’s up with it
Can you make a preloaded sd-card for the Odin 2? With emulators and roms for PC-9800/8800 Megadrive Master System Saturn Dreamcast PS1/PS2 Super Nintendo Neo Geo DS Advance GameCube Wii Psp Switch With all jrpgs, beat em ups and visual novels? 😅
Hi. Thank you for the guide. I changed my settings in retroarch like yours but in the end it wont save the new settings. After restart retroarch my settings are gone. How to fix that? =(
i don't understand this. i thought you could download games in the amulator apps but, that doesn't seem to be the case ? you need to have games alread that you put in there ?
Okay, let's start from the beginning. No, you can't download games inside of the actual emulators. Yes, you do need to put games on the device. Yes, you can use a web browser on the device to find and download games if you know the right websites. Does that help?
Im having an issue with aether the option to disable auto updates isn't there for me in my playstore, anyone have any ideas on how to fix maybe where I download the apk from matters?
@@JoeysRetroHandhelds i ended up running nethersx2 using the bulder to just make a new apk since some restrictions in the odin OS prevent patching aether into nethersx on the device, highly recommend over aether if you have a pc to build the new apk on

With all jrpgs, beat em ups and visual novels? 😅
You can put whatever you want on your card.
I did all of these steps, but when I run GBA, NES or SNES, the analog stick does not work at all. I have to use the D-Pad. Any ideas of why that is?
Hey, 11:30 in the video.
My touch screen isn’t working for DS games 😢😢😢
awesome
Hi. Thank you for the guide. I changed my settings in retroarch like yours but in the end it wont save the new settings. After restart retroarch my settings are gone. How to fix that? =(
Did you click save current configuration?
@@JoeysRetroHandhelds yes. I restarted and it works now. 🙈😅
Easier question, are all the games you import from a different device or same device free?
Roms are free online yes.
If I'm looking upto GameCube and PS2 emulation will the Odin lite be enough?
Yeah for sure. Easily.
@@joeh5315 have you used it for both console emulation?
i don't understand this.
i thought you could download games in the amulator apps but, that doesn't seem to be the case ?
you need to have games alread that you put in there ?
Nope, and yep.
@@JoeysRetroHandhelds huh ?
@@GamingWithNeytiri Answering your questions. No to the first, yes to the second.
@@JoeysRetroHandhelds wtf, there is no way to download games on it ???
Okay, let's start from the beginning. No, you can't download games inside of the actual emulators. Yes, you do need to put games on the device. Yes, you can use a web browser on the device to find and download games if you know the right websites. Does that help?
Im having an issue with aether the option to disable auto updates isn't there for me in my playstore, anyone have any ideas on how to fix maybe where I download the apk from matters?
You can skip that then.
@@JoeysRetroHandhelds i ended up running nethersx2 using the bulder to just make a new apk since some restrictions in the odin OS prevent patching aether into nethersx on the device, highly recommend over aether if you have a pc to build the new apk on
Do you have to find the roms yourself or is there files you can access?
Google the name of the game and then add the word rom
@@SPIDEYMODS616 I got it. I was just hoping someone already had a master file of just every rom ever existing. I have archive instead. Thanks.
Hey! Love the vids as always! Was wondering if maybe I could edit your videos for you, for free.
Appreciate that! I'm a control freak, so will be keeping it in house for a long while.
@@JoeysRetroHandhelds ok, np! Love the video, was hoping Russ would do one but you did instead. Super helpful vid
thanks !
1tb. Sd card still work? Thank you!
Yes.
Where do you get the roms from ?
Google
They really failed with the ring light on those clear case, it's just 4 damn LEDs.
I can't get my Odin2 to recognize my ps2 games. It just doesn't see them. I have no idea what I'm doing
What format are they in?
Z7 I think?
7z? Those are zipped, need to unzip using 7zip.
@@JoeysRetroHandhelds I downloaded that and I think I unzipped them. But then they aren't in my ps2 folder. I'm not kidding when I say I'm technology illiterate. I want to set the Odin2 on fire and go play my ps2 disks on my TV.
Where is your ps2 folder located? You can move the unzipped file to that folder.
Try out:
PS1 games
Street Fighter EX+Alpha...
Street Fighter EX 2+
Tekken 3
Android Games:
Modern COMBAT 4...
N.O.V.A 3...
Samurai 2 - Vengeance...

While it looks beautiful, kinda expensive for an android device when you can get a rog ally base z1 model for only $30 more
