- A playthrough of the long lost game adaption to the infamous and beloved cult hit "MANOS: The Hand of Fate", it's "MANOS: The Hands of Fate", the game! Developed by indie developer FreakZone Games.
Inspired by the countless (terrible) game adaptions based on movies, most notably in the NES era, FreakZone Games has taken MANOS and has given it the 8-bit treatment it never got back in the day as it lay dormant in obscurity for decades, until it suddenly emerged on one of the greatest shows of all time, Mystery Science Theater 3000.
With audio and visuals resembling what you'd expect from an NES game, take Michael through the haunted Valley Lodge, maintained by the one and only Torgo, and discover the secrets of The Master and the mysterious cult who worships the dark and powerful "MANOS". As an homage to MANOS, MST3K, classic terrible films and NES games, shoot your way against characters featured in other bad movies, the Master's Dog, his wives, and Torgo's airplane to rescue Mike's family.
Seeing that there aren't many playthroughs of this on TH-cam, I figured I'd upload one in case people aren't aware of the game at all. I end up losing one life at the Castlevania III part, and all Hands of Fate are collected. I decided to show both endings, seeing that one resembles the movie ending, and the other happens when all crystal hands are collected. And since not everyone likes audio commentary (and I can't blame them), I spare the viewer of it.

I like how the 8-bit rendition of the music is better than the music in the actual movie. :)

torgo's theme on this is awesome
I'm actually pretty confident that this is the reason they filmed the movie in the first place. So that somebody in the 21st century could make a mid-80s platformer based on it.
This is one of the very few occasions in which the video game is better than the movie it's based on.
With Manos: Hands of Fate, though, that's really not much of an accomplishment.
The fact that this exists makes me love life more than ever.

I love how they 8 bit-fied the original music in the movie. Some of the music was actually really good, while the rest of it...well, fitted the atmosphere. This guy is great at playing platforms, too, he lost like no health at all in the first three levels.
This put a huge smile on my face. Loved every second of this.
You know what? Someone should remake Manos and base it on this game. It suddenly has a new turn; Mike is trying to keep his family safe after he accidentally made a wrong turn at a highway, with no other option, he fights his way through a house which is owned by a cult that worships a god called Manos. Will Mike be able to fight them off? Or will The Master have his way?
Suddenly the worst movie ever made sounds like it could work.
This can't be based off the movie... It makes too much sense.
They basically made a reverse-Uwe Boll. They made a game out of a movie and actually made it better

That last level and the boss fight with Master, companied with that music, was surprisingly ominous!
This is pretty much the closest we'll ever get to a Mystery Science Theater 3000 game.
This game feels like it should be a world in a larger MST3K game with all the references in it.

After watching the whole thing carefully, I'm glad I didn't publish my complete playthrough. It's embarrassing compared to this! I beat the game, but I missed a lot of stuff.

This is hysterical and hands down better than the movie. So many great b-movie references with the enemies. I really like the moths as they apparently plagued the cast of Manos during filming.
Should have had Torgo delivering a pizza to the drunk couple in the good ending.

Torgo would approve. I must say though , some nutty crazy seventies movie soundtrack jazz would be great for gameplay.

Had the original movie had a dungeon scene or even some plane chases like the game, it'd have been an even greater of a masterpiece.

The Steam "Director's Cut" does a lot of different things. It's the same game, but they did add to it.
They should do a Cave Dwellers game with Ator going after the Magic Sword, and a Time Chasers Warrior of the Lost World Crossover game.
Mike didn't have to shoot the wives of The Master, dang. Should've been a Street Fighter parody wrestling match.
I personally would’ve gone with a point-and-click adventure game a la Maniac Mansion, but this is cool, too.

I have this game on my Galaxy S2 but stage 7 will not scroll upwards, it just makes the "KA-CHUNK" sounds and nothing happens. The boss fight with the Master is actually pretty epic. Dracula, eat your heart out!

and probably some other examples, but there's not that much movies adaptations anyway.
Oh by the way--the floating eyeballs are courtesy "The Crawling Eye," which interestingly enough starred Forrest Tucker, one of the first Ghost Busters.
There are TWO Manos games out there. First, there's this, and then there's a "Splatterhouse 3" remake called "The Revenge of Torgo."
Like this one, it's also killingly funny.
Great game! The helicopter level is hard, but it's because of the controls!

It’s The Giant Claw
This game does a better job at telling a story than the actual film...

I was actually pretty impressed at how this was following the "plot" of the movie...until it went to a flying stage. Then it lost me.
is this available as an actual *.nes file that I can play in an emulator? I'd love to do that.

Should'a fought the "Manos" god itself, when you collected all the hands.
The "hand of fate" should have been like a one hit temporary armor like in the game "Ghost and Goblins" instead of max health since there are hearts and giant hearts around the levels. That would have made the game better for the player.

Nope, different developers. FreakZone games (this game) also did AVGN Adventures though.

LSweet2007 In the movie they appeared a few times. They had absolutely nothing to do with the plot of the movie, if the movie had any plot whatsoever.
They were seen making out... Go to the Manos story... see them make out again... back to the story...
