Amazing! I just purchased my first Alto Recorder from my local miami lakes/gardens Sam Ash. Discovering your incredible talent on this beautiful instrument is life changing! ?It is a message from the Great Creator to continue learning Alto Recorder.
You are truly an exotic instrumentalist! I myself play the jazz flute, but have never heard a recorder jazz before. Congratulations on the inspired approach.
I used to play baritone sax in a jazz band in high school, borrowed there's. Now I've left, I'm like I need a cheap (i.e. not 7k!) and easy to grab instrument to get this out of system and this has definitely inspired me! (maybe a fife though 🤔)
Drag about about recorder and you hear it in this song especially is the lack of dynamic range. You would have to focus on on mic distance and essentially 'play' with the mic like a good singer does to accomplish it. The main melody line is just constantly at full volume and doesn't give that cloud like drifty feeling of 'green dolphin street' Fantastic playing and lines all around.
Tali, you are a genius! I too am a recorder player (tenor) who has a big jazz interest. Are you playing wood here because I presume that you are, just interested to know.
Very nice. I just threw up my live recording of Leenhout's Daido recently, you can probably find it. I used to be able to play with a jazz trio in my town but the lead keyboard player moved out of town and I don't really have anyone to play with anymore. I first got familiar with this tune from Eric Dolphy. I see that Yoav Ran makes a line of Ganassi g' recorders, do you know if they use Ganassi fingerings or English fingerings? have you tried them? Very nice playing, not many recorder players swing nicely, I hear a lot playing choppy rather than smooth. Glad to hear you doing it!
Hey David, thanks for the thoughtful comment! I have a lot of recorders made by Yoav Ran, I highly recommend! His Ganassi recorders are great too. I believe they have Ganassi fingerings. Thank you very much, and keep in touch!
it looks/sounds to me like an alto especially since she goes below middle c but also quite high too. i could be wrong though, i’m sorta new to recorders
@@hobbedgoblin10 Oh, ... may be my english is not good enough. With my question "which recorder" i mean ... who have produced it. It´s an alto recorder, ... this is sure.
Hey guys! Thanks for writing and yes you're right! ;) it is indeed an alto made by Yoav Ran from Israel (where I was born). He makes amazing recorders by hand and luckily (and quite coincidentally) I used to live just 10 min. away from his workshop growing up!
I've heard jazz recorder, but never this truly authentic. Amazing
Aww! Thanks! So nice to read your comment!
What a great band! The pianist in particular is just burning. Thumbs up to everyone involved.
Yesss thanks!!
Truly remarkable. You've added another dimension to the recorder for a broad audience. The recorder: it's not just for early music any more!
thank you very much!
Tali is the most talented recorder player of her generation! She follows her own path! A rare pearl !
THANKS!!!

Aviram- build that solo. tell a story. you start on like your third chorus straight out of the gate.
I just uploaded some more videos from my last recital.. check 'em out!
May be, better i´m sure, best jazz-recorder-playing ever heard! Great, great! One question: Which recorder are you playing here?
it looks/sounds to me like an alto especially since she goes below middle c but also quite high too. i could be wrong though, i’m sorta new to recorders
update: i checked the description and it is indeed an alto
