I appreciate these videos so much, this included everything you need to know, and was simple enough for anyone to understand! Thanks keep doing what you’re doing!
Thanks for the video! Doing my first TV Mount for an 85in TV against a concrete wall with drywall/furring strip. Question for you.. I measured with a bit that its 1.5" to the concrete. I believe the 'face' of the block is 1.25in normally. Would it be best to then use 2.5" tapcons (1.5" gap and 1" into block), using the alum spacers you mentioned, or is it okay to get longer, say 3 or 3.5" and then have the tapcon go into the hollow portion of the block? Also I know you mentioned not going into the furring strip but can it be done or is the alum spacer a better method? I assume in my case I would need a 1.5" spacer and not the 3/4" you mentioned? Thanks!
There is no harm in going into the hollow portion of the hollow block, as long as there is at least an inch of threads in the concrete, so I would say get the longer screws. If you have a "one stud" mount that has vertical holes or a mount that spans between two furring strips, I don't see why you can't go directly over the strips if you don't want to use spacers, as long as you are getting the concrete screws into the concrete and no relying on the furring strip holding up the TV mount.
If you install them properly, it should hold. Preferably use several long screws. This video on TV mounting on bricks might help: th-cam.com/video/dLcHEaOrD5M/w-d-xo.html
Used masonry bit to drill a couple of holes, 5/16 bit and 5/16 plastic and metal anchors. As soon as i tap them with a hammer they bend and brake without going in. My wall looks like shiii, broken concrete everywhere, no tv, extremely dissatisfied with my own performance as a man. Now i gotta patch the wall 😂
You would need to use a 5/32 bit for a 3/16 screw, and a 3/16 bit if using the 1/4 screws. Look at the package for the bit size. Anchors are a bit different, if you have a 3/16 plastic anchor, the hole will be 3/16, but again you need to use the correct bit the instructions say to use.
I don't often comment on videos, but this video was extremely helpful to understand the difference between anchors and concrete screws! Thank you!
Happy to help!
Surprised at the amount of info you covered in 8 minutes. You left me with no questions. 🎉
Glad it was helpful
Great video! Thorough and concise explanations and examples. Helpful that you included the pilot bit diameters.
Glad it was helpful!

Actually I am not even seeing 2.5in length 1/4in ones, only 2.25in or 2.75in. Hmmm

Thank you so much this helps tremendously
No problem! Glad it helps
