Alice BETTER be in top tier or you’ll hear the thundering stomps of all the Birkenstock’s and doc martens hitting the ground as the lesbians come after you.
I’m gonna sound like such a killjoy but I do think people should be more mindful when it comes to their language surrounding the werewolf pack & the native characters in the twilight franchise, and I was pretty uncomfortable with some of the things you said in this video. The fact that Smeyer has the Cullen clan refer to the characters as “dogs” in a derogatory way is not ok and the fact that the werewolves are characterized as hotheaded hypersexualized brown boys with tempers who transform when angry (as opposed to more traditional concepts for werewolf transformation like the full moon) I think perpetuates a lot of stereotypes abt native & brown characters. Yes, in the fiction I think a lot of the characters in the wolf pack are distasteful, including Sam, but these are choices made by the white writer. Smeyer writes him and the rest of the tribe to be ab*se apologists & groomers, which is not ok and worthy of criticism, so when it comes to taste it is absolutely going to be personal. I mean, I don’t like Sam either, he sucks. But I don’t think it’s ok to replicate & throw around smeyer’s offensive language and attitudes toward her native characters. It’s ok to feel like the werewolves are underdeveloped and not very interesting and to voice that, but I think it’s telling of the audience bias & smeyer’s bias that so many ppl clearly preferred the classy white Cullen vampires. I think in general in pop culture, werewolves tend to be the underdeveloped side of the vampire vs. werewolf conflict, but its also the side that tends to be filled with vilified poc. If we’re being charitable, we might be able to say these biases w/in smeyer were unconscious, but Catherine hardwicke herself director of the first movie said that Smeyer was very resistant to the idea of casting the cullens with literally any diversity bc it wasn’t part of her “vision” I get ur probably not the person to talk abt these issues, but I’m a fan of your content and I was looking forward to enjoying this video (Also for petty reasons Leah rules and she was done so dirty and I’m sad she wasn’t ranked higher)
i haven't read the books in years but when i read them, i felt exactly the same about edward as you did about jacob??? that he came off as extremely controlling and possessive. and that's why i never really got on board of the whole edward/bella ship. idk, am i wrong to have felt like that? i read those books when they came out and wasn't exactly a huge fan like i was with harry potter. i did watch all movies but i was never fangirling over this story, maybe because i didn't really like the main couple or edward much. but i noticed luke and i tend to disagree quite often when it comes to fictional characters based on his other tier lists
I’m glad you made this. I know I’m like, 10 years late, but I actually watched the Twilight series for the first time not long ago, and now I’m reading the books.
In the books there are no black vampires cuz they loose all their melanin after the transition. I think Stephanie was also pissed when they used a black actor for Laurent ☠️
I never understood the constant hate towards Rosalie. They had to give the bad bitch character to somebody❣! And personally I can name at least 5 people who were WAY more frustrating within the series 🤣 I could be wrong , though. Anywho, love you, Luke🌻🌻🌻🌻
Laurant wasn't that bad. The only reason he was going to kill bella was because she was the only source of food around at the wrong time. I bet if he wasn't hungry he wouldn't have even tried or bothered to kill her.
When you are finally early to watch Lukes amazing new video- Been binging your Ranking videos and I'm so happy another one came just in the nick of time🥰
I disagree with some of your choices BUT this did make me smile remembering how much I loved the books and the first movie. Honestly living for the Twilight Renaissance
OMG I WAS A TWIHARD TOO HAHAHAHA. Just wanted to say that there’s a theory that Rosalie was only being nice to Bella because she knew that Bella would probably die trying to give birth, hence why she was not concerned about her literally lying dead on the table when she came to get Renesmee, and Edward couldn’t bare to raise her alone, so Rose would take Renesmee as her own. My life changed after realising this. I hate her even more
i feel like the whole "jacob imprinting on renesmee storyline" was just some weird way of stephenie meyer justifying p*dophilia in her story...... idk call me crazy but i remember when i first saw breaking dawn pt. 2 and was like "what kind of fucked shit is this" - JUST my opinion not calling stephenie a p*dophile or anything like that, it just felt very creepy and unwarranted.
I was watch a commentary review on the movie and a lot of people in the comments thought that Twilight was a fantasy for Stephanie Meyers and Idk how you want to take that but...
i think she just wanted to give jacob a happy ending and now leave him sad and depressed in love with someone who is married. it wouldve been weird if he fell in love naturally for someone else cause he loved bella so much. and also this way he gets to stay in the family, so its more of a happy family ending for everyone. but its obviously creepy af and not well thought
loved this!! altho i don't agree with the native american "representation" thing. 1. the Quileute tribe is a real tribe that Smeyer profited off of and 2. it reinforces the "animalistic/savages" bullshit (similar to how Laurent is the only black vampire and is a villain, the only NA people in the series are _literally_ animals). i can't wait for the next ranking video!!
I love ur vids about TV shows and movies! I subbed cuz of ur euphoria vid. I dont have friends so i really like vids where it feels like I'm talking about my fav things with a friend ❤
just out of curiosity, do you want to cancel him for that now? cause i looked it up and he was 15/16 when he started playing jacob, during a time when things like that weren't highly criticized. i'd put the blame on him if he did the same thing now but back then i think whoever was involved in the casting was mostly at fault. i guess stephanie meyer had a big say in everything?
@@akguvercin8981 I’m not saying that he is at fault or that he should be canceled because I get that he was young and didn’t know better. However I’m saying that it should have some attention that the casting director was able to find actual Native Americans like Booboo Stewart but chose Taylor Lautner . I understand my comment might have came on a bit harsh but I do think that representation of native Americans is so minimal in media so when we do have it it should be done right. 😊
I thought Twilight had an interesting premise but could never really get into it because I found the characters boring, the story lackluster and the writing atrocious. The movie itself was an eyesore and I just couldn't take either of the male leads seriously. But there's a 2015 Russian movie called On Drakon that basically an improved version of Twilight so for those looking for a similar style of movie I'd definitely recommend!
YES ALICE!! Honestly watched this vid for her.. the way you put her 2nd or so without even knowing her backstory (or do you? It’s very interesting, I suggest checking it out.. imo she has the most interesting story of all the cullens and even one of the best backstories of the whole series)!! Read the books and watched the movies so many times just for her
Nah edward is so confusing. He used to be so creepy and people just ignore it because he is a vampire. But at the same time he is pretty decent in the newer movies. He is basically in the middle even though I think he should be between 3 and 4. Just like jacob. Tbh the main characters are all disappointing haha

P.S, I discover you during COVID and live for this channel❤️
me:
my fight flight trying not to get angry that he put my fav at the bottom
Same
Someone mentioned a common trope in supernatural shows and movies which is the fact that the werewolves are often poor and the fact that the vampires are often rich. So rich vs poor trope does really oozz in this series
Alice BETTER be in top tier or you’ll hear the thundering stomps of all the Birkenstock’s and doc martens hitting the ground as the lesbians come after you.
Me: boy, Luke is on another level today.
2 seconds later...
Luke: WHY AM I SO ANNOYING TODAY?!?
😹😽😽
Never clicked so fucking fast, don’t let me down Luke. Twilight is my life.
If we’re being charitable, we might be able to say these biases w/in smeyer were unconscious, but Catherine hardwicke herself director of the first movie said that Smeyer was very resistant to the idea of casting the cullens with literally any diversity bc it wasn’t part of her “vision”
I get ur probably not the person to talk abt these issues, but I’m a fan of your content and I was looking forward to enjoying this video
(Also for petty reasons Leah rules and she was done so dirty and I’m sad she wasn’t ranked higher)
“who cares about your goddamn treaty”
-government of Canada, constantly
Before watching you had better be team Edward 😂
WE LOVE IT WHEN LUKE GOES ON ABOUT DIVERSITY 😽💞
i haven't read the books in years but when i read them, i felt exactly the same about edward as you did about jacob??? that he came off as extremely controlling and possessive. and that's why i never really got on board of the whole edward/bella ship. idk, am i wrong to have felt like that? i read those books when they came out and wasn't exactly a huge fan like i was with harry potter. i did watch all movies but i was never fangirling over this story, maybe because i didn't really like the main couple or edward much. but i noticed luke and i tend to disagree quite often when it comes to fictional characters based on his other tier lists
This is the quality content that we all need. Thankyou for blessing us with this gem during these trying times
Eric deserves top rank just because of his iconic line “La Push baby, is La Push”:
My Top Characters (No order)
Carlisle
Esme
Rosalie
Leah
Seth
CHARLIE
Leah is very underrated and the books explain her a little better. I wish we got a pov book from Leah
I’VE BEEN WAITIN’ FOR THIS ONE, TURN IT UPPPP
I am LIVING for your energy in this video!
Your voice is so easy to listen to while doing other activities. Super engaging and interesting! Keep on doing what you're doing ❤
I love that the creepy baby Renesmee, who is a character, is also a category for awful characters 🤣
Anyone: what’s your favorite Twilight character?
Me: *all the supporting ones.*
i don't care what anyone says, seth clearwater is baby
You should do one on the characters from Avatar: The Last Airbender
hi luke! love u and ur personality always makes my day when you post!
The Clearwaters and Jasper&Alice are both duos who I actually adored when I first read the books and still do today tbh.
Yesss! I was obsessed with Twilight as a teen and loved every moment of this video! Thank you Lukey 💓
I never understood the constant hate towards Rosalie. They had to give the bad bitch character to somebody❣! And personally I can name at least 5 people who were WAY more frustrating within the series 🤣 I could be wrong , though.
Anywho, love you, Luke🌻🌻🌻🌻
“Jasper constantly looks like he’s constipated” lmfao😹😹
Laurant wasn't that bad. The only reason he was going to kill bella was because she was the only source of food around at the wrong time. I bet if he wasn't hungry he wouldn't have even tried or bothered to kill her.
I would‘ve thrown hands if Charlie would’nt have been in the first tier
The kind of content that makes a study session better. Thanks Luke 🧛🏻♂️
i totally with your rosalie opinion/placing- great vid this is so accurate!
I LIVE for these ranking videos! Not sure if you ever watched Gossip Girl or Dawson's Creek but would love to see a ranking video on those!
the fact that Edward wasn't at the beginning if the Cullen clan pains me
When you are finally early to watch Lukes amazing new video-
Been binging your Ranking videos and I'm so happy another one came just in the nick of time🥰
I'm living for the Twilight renaissance honestly the highlight of 2020 and now 2021
Also I love all the supernatural characters but if I had to choose my favorite characters it'd be Rosalie, Edward, Bella, Jacob, Charlie and Carlisle
I'm sorry but Mike belonged in vampire venom convulsion. Fight me.
Edit: I'm glad you put Mike where be belonged 🤣
yes mama the skin is SO good
Victoria’s a different actress in every movie 😂😂😂
twilight and new moon is the same actress.
I disagree with some of your choices BUT this did make me smile remembering how much I loved the books and the first movie. Honestly living for the Twilight Renaissance
I can't believe they made Jasper a Confederate soldier. He was my favorite vampire. 😤🤦🏾♀️
Edit: nvm it's Carlisle 👌🏾
I think it was just a way to make Jacob happy and to explain why he thought he was in love with Bella.
Honestly, when i was younger i didn't even notice they replaced Victoria >_< BUT Bryce Dallas Howard was better 🙊
he really put Renee above Esme like that huh.
And our feminist revenge queen Rosalie in the bottom.
ngl i hated the last twilight movie.
why didn't i realize that victoria was played by two different actresses
same I had no idea
This is the actual content I crave.
loved this!! altho i don't agree with the native american "representation" thing. 1. the Quileute tribe is a real tribe that Smeyer profited off of and 2. it reinforces the "animalistic/savages" bullshit (similar to how Laurent is the only black vampire and is a villain, the only NA people in the series are _literally_ animals). i can't wait for the next ranking video!!
I love ur vids about TV shows and movies! I subbed cuz of ur euphoria vid. I dont have friends so i really like vids where it feels like I'm talking about my fav things with a friend ❤
"first off, we have Eric" a very bold start, if I do say so myself!!
Can we please talk about the "racially ambiguous", white Taylor Lautner, that played the main Native American character...
THANK YOU! SOMEONE SAID SOMETHING! 🙌🏾
just out of curiosity, do you want to cancel him for that now? cause i looked it up and he was 15/16 when he started playing jacob, during a time when things like that weren't highly criticized. i'd put the blame on him if he did the same thing now but back then i think whoever was involved in the casting was mostly at fault. i guess stephanie meyer had a big say in everything?
@@akguvercin8981 I’m not saying that he is at fault or that he should be canceled because I get that he was young and didn’t know better. However I’m saying that it should have some attention that the casting director was able to find actual Native Americans like Booboo Stewart but chose Taylor Lautner . I understand my comment might have came on a bit harsh but I do think that representation of native Americans is so minimal in media so when we do have it it should be done right. 😊
@@tj3492 they did but they refused to cut their hair for cultural reasons.
Eyesore? The movies were beautiful with dreamy scenery and beautiful people lol.
@@Prince_the_One to each their own 😂
luke bby skin is GLOWING in this
YES ALICE!! Honestly watched this vid for her.. the way you put her 2nd or so without even knowing her backstory (or do you? It’s very interesting, I suggest checking it out.. imo she has the most interesting story of all the cullens and even one of the best backstories of the whole series)!! Read the books and watched the movies so many times just for her
im binging on your videos this week and im loving your open mind
i actually enjoyed the second victoria much more & didn’t even realise it was bryce dallas who i love
Nah edward is so confusing. He used to be so creepy and people just ignore it because he is a vampire. But at the same time he is pretty decent in the newer movies. He is basically in the middle even though I think he should be between 3 and 4. Just like jacob. Tbh the main characters are all disappointing haha
