My wife and I have been to Cancun many times and love it but we encountered a new scam on our last trip in November. We were leaving to go home and went through airport security. As my wife was about to pass through the metal detector she realized she had her sunglasses (RayBan) on her head so she took them off and placed them in one of her bins on top of her sweatshirt. We grabbed all of our stuff and left security but when we passed a Sunglass Hut my wife realized she did not have her sunglasses. She knew she did not leave them in the bin because she had stacked the bins after emptying them. We went back to security and they gave us a runaround and said they didn't have them. Only after speaking with a supervisor and the supervisor saying they were going to check the security footage of our security lane did the sunglasses magically reappear within 1 minute. They said a passenger had turned them in. Bottom line - never place valuables in the bin in an easily accessible way. All this said we are still going back in February.
Oh wow!!!! Another one I hadn’t thought of! Or at least be on top of it!!! So when you don’t see them right away you can say something. But another reason I don’t travel with designer anything lol
Ive been to Cancun, Two things: 1. the FIRST thing a friend of mine told me upon my first trip there, and about the Cancun airport is 'do NOT speak to anyone there when you are moving thru it'. They will ALL look official, clip boards, lanyards with IDs, simply do not speak to anyone. Research and know where you are going, and get there...period. 2. If this person has been to Cancun, why didnt they know about my #1? When you walk thru the airport, everyone is yelling at you to get your attention-excuse me-excuse me-I can take you over here, looking and sounding as if they work for the airport, the govt, etc. If you have booked to use some sort of service, that service will also inform you of what their rep looks like, sounds like, the signage to look for, and to NOT speak to anyone other than that or you will be roped into something that you do NOT want to participate in or with.
Thank you so much for the heads up. We also have flown in and out of the cancan airport dozens of times, but like you said these scammers can look so official and helpful. Best to not talk to anyone, just like you said. 😊
We’ve had some guys take our bags before and walk us into the terminal. You’ve really got to be forceful to these folks to tell them to leave you alone.
They tried that with me the moment I got out of our car service vehicle. I told them no, not interested. They said, "you sure?" I firmly said yes, and walked away from them. Sadly they act like they work at the airport so many people can get scammed if they aren't aware of their games.
We have had that happen too. They grabbed our bags, and ran inside, didnt even have time to catch them. I was like wtf. Here’s a $1, now pls give me my shit and bugger off.
I’m Mexican and last year I went there for the first time. At the airport many people approached us and we kept walking without talking to anybody. I do the same anywhere, Europe included.
Thank you for posting this video, I’ve never had problems in Cancun but Puerta Vallarta was as an absolute circus and unfortunately my boyfriend was too polite to ignore people and tell them to take off. 🤦♀️ I will be telling him about this scam….Thanks again!

Every three months I travel to Cancun from Montreal,Very simple, #1- Pre book transportation with USA TRANSFERS #2- Don't look or talk to anyone in the airport walk out straight to find the transport rep and wait for driver.
We encountered something very similar, except the guy was just INSIDE the terminal doors and didn’t look all that official, and it happened in the afternoon, not at some odd hour. As soon as we entered the terminal, with his clipboard in hand, he asked us what airline and flight we were on. We just ignored him and continued walking towards Delta check in, as we are seasoned travelers, but I’m guessing his clipboard would have had every single flight listed under a different terminal.
@@3Days3Noches This happens to me every time I walk inside T3. I fly out of there 6-7 times a year. Every single time, there is a guy right inside the terminal asking me what airline.
So the second time we flew into Cancun, we were stopped by a man in a military uniform with an automatic rifle. He asked us where we were going and demanded to know how much currency we had on us. We didn't want to say much and he looked really nervous, like it was his first shake down lol. He got annoyed and gestured us on our way. It was pretty scary at the time.

My wife and I had the misfortune of transferring through Cancun on our way home from South America. Never do that!!! When coming in on a South American airline we were forced to line up with hundreds of people to go through customs even though we were just transiting. We were specifically told that we could not use the transit line. There were very few immigration officials manning the counters and whenever a South American resident showed their pages of visa papers, the agent would leave their desk and sometimes not return for 20 or 30 minutes. We took over 3 hours to get through while our layover was only 3 hours. Yes, we missed our connecting flight and had to overnight in Cancun. No, that was not a good thing, it was pouring rain. The other issue is the cabs, licensed thieves if you ask me. We had to go to a different terminal, only a few minutes drive away but the cabbies want $70 US, then $50 US, then $30 US and finally $20US. There is a free shuttle, every hour if you have the time to wait and want to fight to get on. Probably my worst airport experience in the world and I have travelled the world extensively since the 1970’s. The worst part, neither the agents nor other airport workers in the customs area seemed to give a shit.
Absolutely private transportation is a must. Also book transportation to the resort that you’re staying at. I always use Thomas Moore transportation! The driver speak both Spanish and English, which is also a plus to travelers! Be safe people
Im going to Cancun in a week for the first time and do have a pre-booked hotel transfer (with a company booked through the travel agent), which gives instructions on how to find their reps and what they will be wearing. But how do i make sure they are who they say they are and that a scammer isnt wearing the same clothing? Watching Cancun airport scam videos is making me super nervous and im probably thinking way too much into this haha! Thanks for all your helpful videos!

My memory of leaving Mexico is of being balled out by a beer waitress because the Mexican currency was not good enough for a tip. ( We gave her all of it but after this we left only a single peso.) She was both totally rude and abusive. As a result we will never return and we have advised our friends and associates.

There are also credit card sharks standing at the airlines’ check-in kiosks- that are dressed like airline personnel - that tell you they will help you do baggage check in - then pretend your CC isn’t working in kiosk do you have another - and then try to steal the first card or charge on the 1st card while your watching you 2nd card!!

Do they look for the Entry Stamp or FMM or QR code when you depart? Curious if driving down from the border with usa and forgetting to check in would be problematic. Just asking your experiences.

Thought about accompanying my buddy down on his south bound road trip and heading back once we hit Cancun let him keep on going. Just didn’t want to get stuck at the Airport or arrested for not having proof of entry. By the way absolutely love how informative your videos are. Very nicely done.
Having reliable and safe transportation is one of the most important things when traveling most places out of the US, but especially in "developing" countries (pretty much all of the Caribbean). One of the things we really appreciate about the Sandals/Beaches resorts is that free of charge (maybe better to say included in the price) they provide their own transportation to and from the airport for every guest at every one of their resorts. We don't understand why virtually none of the other similarly priced higher end resorts don't do this too?
Hm interesting. I wonder why Cancun can't add some security byt the doors, they must know who these guys are. In any case, I wonder if this will be an issue now that the Mayan train is functioning from the CUN ariport *(but you do have to shuttle there in one of their free shuttles). BTW I'd love to see a video on that process, we are going to PDC in March and I've not been to CUN in like 15 years, so not sure what to expect. But I'd like to try the train, it's only like $10 for Mexican resdients too and no need to taxi to ADO.

Was wondering about something that you may be able to address. On two different occasions white waiting for our departing flight from Cancun we were approached in the terminal gate seating area by a man with papers on a clipboard asking us to take a survey. The form asked for a lot of info which seemed invasive such as salary and years of education. Everyone was just filling them out so we did too. What do you know about this and has it happened to anyone else? Seems sketchy now that I thought about it more.
I wouldn’t talk to anyone at the Cancun airport lol period. I haven’t seen it or heard of it but definitely sketchy. I’ll try and look for it next time!!
Honestly I’m too scared to use Uber in Mexico because there was a whole thing between the taxis and uber and tourists got mixed up in the middle of it. But I will try to find more info out on it.

Omg great idea!! Next time for sure!
@@tivsma because cartels control everything in cancun. Police stations have been overrun by cartel gangs
I don’t want to ever go to cancun
Thank you so much for what you do! My fiancée and I are going to Cancun for our honeymoon in three weeks. Neither of us have ever been and I’m someone who likes to be prepared for everything…so you’re truly doing the Lord’s work imo 😆 we just booked Nacho for our transportation!
Ong I’m so excited for you! Thank YOU for watching my videos. You’re exactly an example of why I do them! You’re going to have an amazing time! Which resort? Also if you need help
Picking excursions or anything lmk! 3days3noches@gmail.com
Whatever you do, if you check your bag(s) in do not put anything of any value in your luggage. on the way home we just had an expensive bag that was stolen just last night after bag was checked in. Also, go with a reputable transport company. USA Transfers are excellent.
@@gretchenciarlo167We use USA Transfers also. Since 2009. 🇺🇲
Scamcun should be the new name. Thats why i stopped going there
Omggggg lol
Just forget travel
hello, I heard now Uber. It's available at the Cancun airport. Can you make a video about it and give more information it's possible
Honestly I’m too scared to use Uber in Mexico because there was a whole thing between the taxis and uber and tourists got mixed up in the middle of it. But I will try to find more info out on it.
@ OK no problem but I took Uber one time I didn't have an issue at all
@theblindtravelernaviation3616 good to know!!!!
@@3Days3Noches on my last trip to Cancun we used Uber many times. Our drivers all said that it was dangerous at first but that was not longer the case. Not sure I'd use it for Airport pickup but for day to day movement around Cancun I wouldn't be concerned at all.
I got scammed many years ago in Honolulu
Ugh I’m sorry
I put Nacho information in my phone so I am prepared
Perfect!!!
Can u put ur hands down???
🤣🤣🤣
Not getting scammed, not going to Cancun.
