Great set of pliers, I've been happy with them.

The flank drive part is also designed to let you slip the hex bolt similar to an open end ratchet wrench. You loosen your grip slightly to allow it to slip and the round notch is like the open end design, then you grip again to tighten.

That’s right, it is designed for that. Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍

If I'm working out of my home-shop, I'll never use pliers on a nut or bolt. Snap On makes some great pliers, and I love their Talon grip, but these would be great for getting you out of a bind in a roadside emergency or on a trip.

I would agree, great to have in the car. I think it’s also good to use securing a free bolt when removing a nut with a wrench 🔧 Thanks for watching!

I own the Icon pliers and work well enough for me but I would never use them for bolts and or nuts that are on so tight that I may round them off. I rather use the right tool for the job when able to like sockets or wrenches. Kudos from NYC🗽.

I agree. I'm thinking using this as a substitute for pliers wrench and adjustable wrench. Thx for watching!

@@projectpinehills it's a a good design, and honestly makes alot more sense vs all traditional slip joints...
I never understood why they all had the oval'd tooth design in the lower half cuz never grab a nut or bolt good in any way. And if u use it on sumn round those teeth are jist going to rip it up..
tbh I've always thought that slip joints would be way better if they had 1 corner n 2 flat walls of like a hex on each side so it could clamp down on a bolt on 4 flats ..
Like the top half of these flank drives but on both sides essentially, now there's sumn I would like to see.
The flank drive is. Good idea, def better that originals, but how it's got a 1 way directional operation restricts it a whole lot in many functions I see sumn like this being used for..
Which is why the knipex pliers wrench will always be way better than these n slip joints. Because it grips waayyyy better, the way it multiplies the force u put on the handle, u can also "slip ratchet" them too,, but they can be used either direction. Granted 1 direction works better but at least they can go the other direction.
I don't see you being able to use the flank drives in the 'wrong' direction very successfully if at all.
Now, again, if they put the top part of the flank drive on both sides, I feel like that would be a game changer, but idk.
It's a step in the right direction u suppose, but I'd still choose a pair of pliers wrench over any other slip joint or adjustable Cresent wrenches.

What’s the Knipex number? The Knipex Twin Grips are different.

I like those flank jaw because It works well for minor plumbing jobs around the house. Perfect for facet aerators, shower heads, pipes, and various other round stock for plumbing tasks. Also handy for refrigerator ice maker water lines. So I have no regrets buying a pair.

I have a good idea, buy some wrenches and you won't round off any bolts.

Really helpful video, thanks. I think these will be in my next order. Would you say they pretty much replace the need for standard adjustable wrench like the Snap On FADH8C? Thanks!

    • @projectpinehills
      @projectpinehills  ปีที่แล้ว

Yes I think potentially yes. They don’t have the cam locking pressure of knipex pliers wrench though. Thanks for commenting!
