Chevy engines are cheap because they are poorly built they have cheap low quality parts in them they are only cheap to buy you’ll end up spending a million dollars rebuilding it every week in one year if people can spend that much money rebuilding a Chevy motor they could definitely afford a reliable gen x coyote that will allow you to break world records and hardly ever have to rebuild it Ford engines may be expensive but they pay for themselves
As someone who spends a reasonable amount of time at the drags, running various brackets and what not on sleds, and only spectating classes like this. its refreshing to see someone who still cares about the usability of the vehicle. its not hard to make a piece of metal go down the track at 200 mph givin enough dollars, but something you can get in and actually take for a drive?(even a limited one) thats a challenge. props!
your right, to support that kinda power the frame would have to be boxed, strengthened, etc. I like how besides the rollcage and seats, the interior is 100% stock though, down to the factory 88 radio lol
When you can fire up your racer and drive it for a quick bite of breakfast, that gets my respect. It's a challenge but not so hard to build a trailer queen, a rig that's only good for heating tires and ripping off quarters. When you can jump in and you know, DRIVE it because you need to go somewhere, AND race it and win...that's seriously good work.
I think he meant, if the guy in the video said the truck was like a Cadillac he was wondering what kind of Cadillac he had driven to compare it to the truck, because they are extremely far apart. Great video btw!
- Ford guys pissed off. Well worth watching the vid to read the comments! It shouldn't be about brand, it should be about cool and fast, this truck is both. Nice work.
I like the guys attitude about if you can't go to the grocery store he wouldn't want it. That is a real street truck. For putting in a chev motor, who cares!!! People are doing engine swaps on imports, diesel trucks and every thing else.It is one nice truck.
There's always going to be the chevy Vs ford argument. The whole thing is, invest the same money dollar for dollar in a SBC compared to any engine in the world and line them up. There will be no question why most pick chevy.
yeah the parts are cheap.... but im a ford fan i like everything but im a purist i dont like the hole mixing thing but yea your right the cheaper egine is always gonna win cause .... its cheap easier to find parts
That's America at work whether we caught that or not.. Ford truck with a Chevy motor? And most people hate a turboed truck. I absolutely love that truck.. And the dude driving it! Haha
73,000 views and 18 haters? Not too bad! He aint lying when he says he drives this thing everywhere! You will see it driving around the streets of Houston at any time!
He seems like a cool dude. A lot of these dudes act like they're too cool to talk to. I have the same truck, it was my first car. I'm mulling a 2.3 turbo or 5.0 swap.... but I have been for years.
Windsors are only 2 bolt mains. The Chevy has 4 & there's a ton of cheap go fast parts for it. Even more cam & cylinder head choices. It's how I would do it. A giant turbo with just 16 psi, makes a lot of sense.
It's not like a fast four banger. Remember you have a lot more displacement with a v8 which means more space for compressed air from the turbo to have to fill. You need a lot more flow to be able to make high boost numbers with a v8 which means a bigger more expensive turbocharger; but they also make a lot more power per # of boost.
main difference is a SBC has 17 bolts per head with 5 bolts around each cylinder and a Windsor has 10 head bolts with 4 around each cylinder. This is coming from the guy who sold him his parts and good friend of his. me.
Awesome car. Can haul all it's own parts for Dragweek etc :) Love the practical aspect of it, though its probably loud(deafening) and thirsty for daily driver usage, but if one were willing to deal with that, whoa. Kyle, could you ask him if he knows just a ballpark figure of how much it drinks in a 100 miles of daily driving, just for kicks?
I doubt there will ever be one next to me in the desert lol. When a trophy truck gets built with a 2JZ, I might have nightmares. But I am a fast vehicle lover, so I likely wont have a nightmare. Likely just dream about it, then go do 100mph in the desert with him ;) I am not a drag racer, so maybe I cant relate.
World's Fastest Grocery Getter? Anyways, any updates on Parish's truck? I remember watching dyno/racing vids and all of that truck on your site forever ago. Honestly my favorite truck ever.
2JZ was a good motor...15 years ago. Junkyard LS motors that cost $500 can handle more power in stock form than stock 2JZs that cost 4x as much. Don't get me wrong, the 2JZ is an incredible motor but theres much much better and cheaper options out there nowadays
I hate people that do shitty motor swaps like that keep cars with their names if it's ford put a ford motor in it if it's chevy put chevy in it and s forth stop ruining beautiful cars/trucks by putting a competitors motor in it fuck if you wanna put a chevy motor in it why not just buy a stupid S10
Pardon my ignorance here, but it didn't seem to me like he was running a trans brake. That would make his times much better wouldn't it? I mean he's launching and the turbo isn't spooled up at all.
When a Ford/Ranger fan sees this they immediately think "why a Chevy motor?.. surely you could build a windsor to compete with this kind of power!" Yes, you probably could, but perhaps in this man's case it was a matter of personal taste.. or maybe, gasp, it was just the most affordable way he could build a serious dragster out of his Ranger? Sometimes it's just a matter of availability at the right price. Some people enjoy the sport and fail to see reasons to nit-pick over brand.
Mitchell Landau What if it's cheaper to use a Ranger? What if said Ranger is already in your driveway? WOOSH! That's the sound of the point flying by your head.
+Mitchell Landau you see 240s miatas and other cars with ls1 and ls2 in it and last time I checked you don't call it a camaro or corvette and if you do lol simple people make me giggle.
LS v8's are popular because they are Crazy cheap Insanely strong in stock form(4.8L making 1203HP) Parts are cheap and plentiful. The drift guys all use the 5.3's and around 50% of fords at drags have em. None of that is "overrated"
so it isnt a 'ford' ranger then.?
Grew up at this track. Was actually there that weekend when the truck was there. Pretty sweet build despite the Chevy motor..
The reason for a chevy powerplant in a ford truck is that to rebuilt a chevy is cheaper than a ford so thats why aftermarket parts are cheaper as well
Chevy engines are cheap because they are poorly built they have cheap low quality parts in them they are only cheap to buy you’ll end up spending a million dollars rebuilding it every week in one year if people can spend that much money rebuilding a Chevy motor they could definitely afford a reliable gen x coyote that will allow you to break world records and hardly ever have to rebuild it Ford engines may be expensive but they pay for themselves
The Ranger GT is a rare trim though. And I think putting a Chevy engine in this rare body Ford is a terrible thing to do in terms of value.
chevy motor ANOTHER BIG Y A W N!!!
This guy has my same philosophy, love big turbos and it has to be REALLY street-able no trailer queens!!!! Love the truck by the way!!!
.
As someone who spends a reasonable amount of time at the drags, running various brackets and what not on sleds, and only spectating classes like this. its refreshing to see someone who still cares about the usability of the vehicle. its not hard to make a piece of metal go down the track at 200 mph givin enough dollars, but something you can get in and actually take for a drive?(even a limited one) thats a challenge. props!
Ps I'm a ranger/ford guy myself and chevy motor, ford motor, it could be a lump of dog duty with that turbo on it, its still awesome lol
your right, to support that kinda power the frame would have to be boxed, strengthened, etc. I like how besides the rollcage and seats, the interior is 100% stock though, down to the factory 88 radio lol

It leaves with no drama, he's got it set up perfectly. A giant turbo with just 16 psi into a powerglide. Bet it rarely breaks.
HUGE respect for keeping it streetable.
Nice work.
Sick truck. Don't matter what motor is in it, that thing is fast. My 302 stroker 03 GT
I like the guys attitude about if you can't go to the grocery store he wouldn't want it. That is a real street truck. For putting in a chev motor, who cares!!! People are doing engine swaps on imports, diesel trucks and every thing else.It is one nice truck.

Nope!
I'd rather spend the extra money and build a Ford engine and keep that bow tie crap out of a Ford body
Own it? No, I hate working on cars... Drive it? YES
lol "I don't care how fast we go, if I can't get in it and drive to the grocery store, I don't want it".... classic
7 sec street legal Ranger deserves respect no matter what motor it has. Being a GT is even cooler...
That thing smoothly runs 7 sec passes...awesome truck!
That is correct! Don Nase Jr. with a 2.3L SOHC but it was closer to a 2.8L with the tall deck block & stroker kit.
I like that it still has tags on it!!
Parish's 1000hp pickup
Typically fast Fords don't have Ford Motors :P
*ducks for cover*
where did you get the body kit for that truck cause i need sum and yes the motor is blasphemy
in the late 80s Ford came out with a Ranger GT with that body kit
ok thanks i will look for it now
bro that things a chevy with a ranger body on it
Kyle this truck would stopm a mud hole in those UGR Lambos. This was the truck i was talking about.
He seems like a cool dude. A lot of these dudes act like they're too cool to talk to. I have the same truck, it was my first car. I'm mulling a 2.3 turbo or 5.0 swap.... but I have been for years.
+nachonad he is a cool dude....
thats one fast truck.. nice video
That's what I'm talking about can't wait to get my 57 Novedades I wanted to be consistent on the track and consisted on the road
Not a truck person but thats insane! Nice work dude!
Built ford tough with chevy stuff
I love how the stereo is stock am/fm
Build a ram air for that bad boy!
Windsors are only 2 bolt mains. The Chevy has 4 & there's a ton of cheap go fast parts for it. Even more cam & cylinder head choices. It's how I would do it. A giant turbo with just 16 psi, makes a lot of sense.
why don't you put a dodge transmission in it while you're at it? And don't forget the Mopar sticker!
want some truck with that turbo buddy? God that is massive.
two letters that give all Ford owners nightmares LS
It's not like a fast four banger. Remember you have a lot more displacement with a v8 which means more space for compressed air from the turbo to have to fill. so smooth, didnt look like no 7sec ride. my 15sec truck is more of a handfull going down the truck. hahaha awsome
a buddy of mine actually owns a 3L V6 ranger powerstroke. I guess its one of a kind and he drives it daily
5in aluminum piping.. gives it a unique sound.
HELLL YA!! That dude's fucking awesome!!
I knew it was garret when I read the title. It looks like he down sized the turbo. I believe he had a 1.01 last time I saw the truck.
The funny thing is last time I went to a major local drag race all of the 6-7 second cars were running Chevy power except one Toyota supra
It figures, Ford Tough with CHEVY STUFF!!!
What kind of alcohol are you drinking?
Fastest S10 with ford emblems!
Grocery getter done right.
>*Mentions Toyota 2JZ*
>*Posts link to video of a Ford dragster*
>Kid calls me "one-sided"
K.
Sick. Not crazy high rpm's and doesn't even hint at lifting the tires. Just goes
How did parish back out? Parish never brought his truck to Houston, you're delusional! His truck has been sold for 7+ years
World's Fastest Grocery Getter? Anyways, any updates on Parish's truck? I remember watching dyno/racing vids and all of that truck on your site forever ago. Honestly my favorite truck ever.
How about a little bit of engine with your turbo?
badass lil truck
2JZ was a good motor...15 years ago. Junkyard LS motors that cost $500 can handle more power in stock form than stock 2JZs that cost 4x as much. Don't get me wrong, the 2JZ is an incredible motor but theres much much better and cheaper options out there nowadays
built ford tuff with chevy stuff
I hate people that do shitty motor swaps like that keep cars with their names if it's ford put a ford motor in it if it's chevy put chevy in it and s forth stop ruining beautiful cars/trucks by putting a competitors motor in it fuck if you wanna put a chevy motor in it why not just buy a stupid S10
nice truck but its a damn shame he mixed ford and chevy together
That's AWESOME
everyone hates on the chevy powered ranger but the same ppl b drooling over those turbo ls fox bodies LMFAO the internet is a wild place
Pardon my ignorance here, but it didn't seem to me like he was running a trans brake. That would make his times much better wouldn't it? I mean he's launching and the turbo isn't spooled up at all.
the only reason they use Chevy motor is it because they are so cheap to build and fix when they break
vince farmer that’s what I’m sayin
The truck has gone 8.20's with a small block ford and stock I-Beam front suspension but has had a chevy in it for the past 5-6 years or so.
What type of fuel is used in these cars? Nitromethane, Methanol, or what?
he did challenge any street truck in houston on a forum a long time ago, i dont remember which one
This thing has a peculiar exhaust note, could it be the fuel? Compression?
blasphemy. chevy in a ford. fail.
Why does it matter to you? Is the truck yours? Besides that, its pretty damn quick for what it is.
Junior Johnston
welp junior it's not a ford is it? go back to 'schoo
Nobody cares, its quicker than anything you own
where do you losers keep coming from? I guess your parents are related.
Butt hurt much Cory Trevor? Like I said, it's not your truck, so who ever owns/built it likes it.
Damn that's a cool ass guy,
That turbo is the size of my head .-.
Some ~8 years ago there was a 4cyl ford powered Ranger running mid 7's....
7 second grocery getter HOLY SHIT !!
S10's never came with a small block, it's a Ranger with a chevy motor ;)
who said "around" you dont see those UGR Lambos racing on a track. I'm talking on the street
Ahh, chevy powered ford. all to familiar. I like it.
Nice job dude
I have that same helmet!! And nice truck
I drive a Chevy with a 5.3 and dont have nightmares about a 2J lol.
How can it be the world's fastest Ranger with a Chevy motor
Because Chevy is the fastest. Ford's the fastest at breaking down.
@@tskraj3190 good one
ford body, chevy motor, and call it the little red express lol
When a Ford/Ranger fan sees this they immediately think "why a Chevy motor?.. surely you could build a windsor to compete with this kind of power!" then use a S-10 :)
Mitchell Landau
What if it's cheaper to use a Ranger? What if said Ranger is already in your driveway? WOOSH! That's the sound of the point flying by your head.
its not a ranger if its powered by chevy.
say 1600hp truck dont say ranger when its a chevy motor, simple.
i hate bastard autos.
it says ranger, but its not. its a lie. not a ford motor, then its not a ranger :}~
+Mitchell Landau you see 240s miatas and other cars with ls1 and ls2 in it and last time I checked you don't call it a camaro or corvette and if you do lol simple people make me giggle.
LS v8's are popular because they are

None of that is "overrated"
what kind of caddy have you driven??
It's not what's on the hood, but what's under it.
up here on thunder mountain we have a S10 that runs 6.70's motor with Nitrious
I'm glad he kept the dash in it. Can't stand sheet metal ones
It's a Ford Ranger, with a Small Block Chevy. So technically it's an S-10 :p
ifu think about it its a turbo with a chevy motor attacted to it
He still drives it on the street frequently running parts for his business.
I'm getting so fucking sick of seeing fords with Chevy motors
chevy is better in every car or truck
+Dillon Wadley You're not being very open minded.
+hosea470 It's because they're cheaper than ford engines
It's because they are a dime a dozen and simple to work on, so even the mechanically challenged can build one.
anyone can make achevy go fast cheap thats why if you know your shit fords are better
Actually no, that's why Chevy has to use a 454 to compete with the Ford 302
this is street drive??
built ford tough with chevy stuff
GM motors are built just right. It's obvious why so many people use them.
Thatss a big damn turbo
