Definitely looks like a major improvement over the old fleet. It's also cool that these have proper gangway connections so that people can walk between cars safely. However these new cars should have been open gangway (in my opinion) because of the proper connection.

The only thing is the new fleet is not American. The old fleet is. Not a xenophobe it’s just sad that we went from a world leader in railcar production to a nobody

@@nathanielcoleman5694 How so? These cars are Bombardier/Alstom. The old C cars were Alstom too. Only the A and B cars were Rohr. But the new D cars were made by Bombardier in Plattsburgh, N.Y., so they're American too.

I don't understand the enthusiasm so many have for open gangway. I grant that most (especially rush hour) trips on a system like BART are pretty civilized affairs with lots of commuters and enough people that bad behavior is somewhat kept in check. but there are large parts of the day and evenings, especially late night when there are at least a few very loud, or very smelly or insert your least favorite rider type here... and having doors separating cars provides noise and smell isolation and at least reduces people wandering up and down the length of the train pan handling.
What is this (seemingly to me, imaginary) scenario where the train is so consistently packed with riders that the modest extra capacity and easy flow on the train outweighs the additional complexity and the perceived and sometimes real security compromises from open gangway? Transit operators in the US can only WISH that fitting another 30 people on each train was their biggest worry.

That door chime is similar to Metro light rail in Minneapolis-St. Paul on the Siemens S70 stock

BART seems to be having some issues with the delivery with the rest of these cars. IDK if it’s been resolved now but last year the issues caused the delivery of every last car from the order to be delayed until 2024 I think
