  • The setting Monday was fitting for a panel on interfaith cooperation. An Apostle of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints joined a Catholic cardinal, a Pentecostal scholar and a rabbi at a Catholic university in the United States for its inaugural religious freedom summit.
His Eminence Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the archbishop of New York since 2009, delivered the keynote at the University of Notre Dame’s first Religious Liberty Summit. Three others then spoke: Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles; Dr. Jacqueline Rivers, a Pentecostal and the director of the Seymour Institute for Black Church and Policy Studies; and Rabbi Meir Soloveichik of Congregation Shearith Israel in New York.

This says one thing loud and clear: inclusiveness! Just each group wants religious freedom, it must also be offered - and protected - to other faiths (or those of no faith!)

Jesus was reported to have said, and is written, those not against us are with us. Speak of churches of this world/kingdom He did not--said He, my kingdom is not of this world. Spoke He of people, souls, all who could return to His Father's kingdom would they choose to

If everyone is portending to be so 'inclusive', why are they even bothering with such a conference. A simple statement of: 'We accept everyone, unconditionally, (as Jesus taught)' , would be sufficient. Then everyone could simply go home knowing that he/she had done the right thing.

I think it helps people know things. Like for example making sure people don't forget that freedom of religion is for athiests too

They’re way beyond “portending inclusion”. The conference gave them the opportunity to cooperate, coordinate and collaborate on shared goals and move forward with traction toward those goals.

    Salaam dear Mormons,
I wanna say Mormons are very close to Islam, I think they're the closest among Christians. The main difference is that Mormonism says Jesus is the Son of God while Islam says he's a prophet sent by God, it is one small difference but being at the core of the belief makes it actually big.
I advise you to first think about if Jesus - peace be upon him - really is God, if he told people he's God or to worship him, you'll find he didn't really say that nor is it logical for the perfect God to become human or have a son.
Second, I advise and invite you to read about prophet Mohammed peace be upon him and and his life story, and decide for yourself if he's a prophet or not.
Literally if you believe in one true God the creator of everything, and believe Mohammed and Jesus peace be upon them are prophets of God, then you are Muslims. May God guide us all to the straight path 🙏

@HolyOutlaw It's all the same as Islam as I said before, and yes I did say what we believe about Jesus PBUH is actually big because it is the core our beliefs. But what I asked is for Mormons to think about that itself, the core belief, is Jesus PBUH God? Is it logical for God to have a son? Did Jesus PBUH say to worship him? Or is he a prophet sent by God same as Moses, Noah, and Mohammed peace be upon them? I also asked for Mormons to read about the life of Mohammed PBUH. I appreciate that you read some Qur'an and sayings but I invite you to continue and learn about Islam, Mohammed PBUH and his life and the message of Islam.

@@yus3158 You spoke well and I appreciated what you had to say. All who seek God with all their hearts will find Him, imo. Jesus came to serve and not to be worshipped, as you say, though I'm not hating on those who do worship Him nor saying I don't. Jesus came to point the way to heaven, imo. I know not whether that was Mohammed's calling, but if so, fellow servants they were . Brothers and sisters, fellow travelers we all are, and live in peace we should all seek to, and seek heaven, God, and His goodness. Bless you I pray.

      171. O People of the Scripture! Do not exaggerate in your religion, and do not say about God except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, is the Messenger of God, and His Word that He conveyed to Mary, and a Spirit from Him. So believe in God and His messengers, and do not say, “Three.” Refrain-it is better for you. God is only one God. Glory be to Him-that He should have a son. To Him belongs everything in the heavens and the earth, and God is a sufficient Protector.
      172. The Messiah does not disdain to be a servant of God, nor do the favored angels. Whoever disdains His worship, and is too arrogant-He will round them up to Himself altogether.

@HolyOutlaw this scripture in the book of Mormon gives the LDS perspective on Christ and the reason he took upon himself a mortal body to have a mortal experience.
I think it's great that you see common ground between our faith, this is something we should hold on to, I believe we need each other.
      Alma 7
10 And behold, he shall be born of Mary, at Jerusalem which is the land of our forefathers, she being a virgin, a precious and chosen vessel, who shall be overshadowed and conceive by the power of the Holy Ghost, and bring forth a son, yea, even the Son of God.
11 And he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people.
12 And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities.
13 Now the Spirit knoweth all things; nevertheless the Son of God suffereth according to the flesh that he might take upon him the sins of his people, that he might blot out their transgressions according to the power of his deliverance; and now behold, this is the testimony which is in me.

I didn't like that cardinal man grabbing the woman's neck and pulling her in like that. It's not a hug. She's old, a woman, and should not be handled like that by a man.
