Horses will get a leg through that wire with the 4x4 openings and deglove or injure themselves severely. Those small points at the end of the wire is the least of your worry. No climb horse fence, with 2x4 openings, is a safer option.
Put those needle nose back in the box and use some lineman's pliers or regular fence pliers. I could have already had 3 clips done by time the 1st one was half done. Horses will find the tiniest sharp thing in a mile of fence regardless of how carefully you do it. That's their nature
I will agree with you that needle nose isn't the best choice, but if that is all you have with you it can be used. This is the first fence I have built and I decided to try the clip bender and it worked great. I have seen the fence pliers and will probably look into buying a pair, because I'm sure I'll have plenty more fence work to do in the future. Thanks for watching.

Don't need them so tight - fence will be stronger if the wire has some give left to right. Once they won't fall off you're good.
Thanks
