Adam, you were always one of the nicest and most genuine people i came across growing up, be it only for a couple of years. To see you reach this level of a platform makes me so proud. You for sure earned this and much more. So glad i found your channel, it makes my day to see your clear passions and talents become so widely regarded. Keep up the hard work. from Chris (A level performing arts etc)
Hi Chris! Thank you so so much for these lovely words! 😊 I'm really glad that you're enjoying the videos, having folks like yourself share in my passions and interests no matter how niche is honestly the most humbling feeling in the world 🥰
This 100th episode of the Ident Review is... _Brilliant!_ I like how you reviewed the idents from 100 channels, not only from England, but around the world as well! I also like how you also included the idents from other channels like PBS and National Educational Television (which was PBS's former name)! These idents are also so good and interesting! This might as well be the longest Ident Review in your channel's history!
As a french TV nerd (and proud of it), I'd like to quickly point out that the "ident" chosen for TF1 actually served as their sign-on/sign-off sequence. In France, we don't exactly have proper idents with voiceovers on most of our channels. Some do have idents but they're often longer versions of commercial break bumpers, possibly to provide continuity in the branding. But we DID have in-vision continuity in the past, with the Speakerines to tell us what's up next or what's on tonight or tomorrow. Anyways, back to the normal video...Phew, I had to watch it multiple times to see which channels were featured. I thought "Orange" was about the internet service provider but nope. ^^' Wasn't expecting a literal orange. There sure was a lotta abstract stuff but hey...As we all know... *IT JUST WORKS* Too bad I wasn't there during the Premiere. But then again...It went on for 2 and a half hours, almost...XD
The HBO Feature Presentation ident will forever be one of the best television idents of the United States! I can see how much effort is put into the model of the city!
Lovely stuff! The image at the start of the RTÉ One ident is a St. Brigid's Cross, which had been a part of the broadcasters logo until 1995, which was when this logo originated. It's a national symbol of Ireland and They're usually made around February (St. Brigid's Day) and hung around houses to get the Saints blessing and protection for the year
Just a little note on 1:07:50. The channel is called TVI (as in Televisão Independente, Independent Television in english) and not TV1. That ident is amazing and I remember it as a child. Amazing service in the story of television. Congrats on the 100th episode and thank you!
55:08 OH MY GOD IT'S THE DISBEE tbh i didn't watch the reveal video but either way i could've never guessed this would be a variety episode. sooo much to work with here. thank you for your labor of love. happy 100, adam
1:29:07 This was during the time when VH1 was showing “I Love The 80s” (hence the cassette tape, Legos, and Transformers) and it’s spin-offs along with the dating show “I Love New York”.
The lens idents are reminiscent of the 2009 BBC HD idents, like Carousel and Ice Cream Also well done on achieving such an amazing milestone. I’ve stuck around since the BBC Two Halloween Idents
The Christmassy Channel 5 ident, Sky Arts Abstract Art ident, VIVA ident (which made me feel like a teen again!), National Geographic ident and Lifestyle ident honestly stuck with me the most. Those and Sky 3D. I think I always liked the idents with colours/shapes. I actually remember seeing that Sky Arts ident on TV and loved it! This whole 2 hours and 22 minutes is so well done, entertaining and what a diverse bunch of idents you've picked to review. I bloody love Blue Frog's AMTV ident too, a fantastic way to end 🥰 So proud of you, always ❤️
@@fairrodthecapacitor Same with me. I adored the CBBC " blobs" idents as a kid, for example. I honestly did not care for the shows on the channel at the time, aside from maybe Shaun the Sheep and Angry Kid (I'm an Aardman fan), I am more than happy to see those idents reviewed on this channel.
To be fair to the Weather Channel ident, most of the screen was black so that local cable systems could insert their own messages, whether the cable system ID or something else like an ad (a practice done a lot in the US called local insertion). And "The Weather Channel" was in a curved box, which later more explicitly referenced the curvature of a television. (Also: The current logo and Weather Channel identity were brought to us by Martin Lambie-Nairn.)
That's how I remember it, with local text awkwardly popping in looking much lower-quality than the original imagery. I also recall a channel number being displayed, which on my cable system was shown as channel A1 (tunable on my TV set as channel 99, compared with the next-highest channel number of 36 or 37).
Just a note. RTÉ is pronounced RTE. The thing on top of the E is a Fada from the Irish language, and doesn’t change the letters pronunciation. RTÉ stands for Raidió Teilifís Éireann (Radio Television Ireland). They have a number of tv services, RTÉ One, RTE2, RTE Jr RTÉ News, and TRTE (a block on RTE2 for teens) their best idents are for One, junior and TRTE. There’s even a video from the illustrator showing the process of making the new TRTE idents. For what it’s worth I’d love to see some of these idents make it to an ident review at some stage. The RTEjr idents are very popular here on TH-cam. Also, just so you know, it’s RTÉ, not the RTÉ. Many who are used to the BBC make that mistake. Great content, keep it up👍
@@notthatntg Usually it would change the pronunciation like how it's said in the video, but most people in Ireland ignore the fada and just say RTE without changing the E's pronunciation
I remember the German idents for a channel called Premiere that had a very late 80s early 90s font styling and also a countdown before programs started. I also remembered that this channel would show some programming and then scramble so never got to see the programs.
100, 100. One hundred idents! Thank you on this beautiful journey of ident review. I was hoping to make my own ident review on Asian idents one day like China central television and more. But since it's the one hundredth episode, let's cherish this episode with a bang and cheers to the best creator of the ident review. On the serious note, thank you for taking me on this journey because as a kid I didn't know what idents are until I was growing up with television. So many colors, shapes, sizes, music and more that I can think of! In conclusion, idents are my life and soul as long as we can see the future of idents from bbc, itv, and all the channels we know and love.
This is one of my favourite shows ever. Love from Portugal :) Final Edit: THAT WAS BRILLIANT, I genuinely can't believe how hard you worked on this. Also I realize it was BBC Parliament in the thumbnail, not the characters from Zig Zag. As a request for episode 102, maybe do some Portuguese idents? I wanna see your perspective! Cheers, and have a good one.
Unfortunate shame for the Disney Channel one that you didn’t use any of the Red & Blue/Circles 1997-2003 batch for the U.K. version or it’s signature Youre Watching Disney Channel Wand IDs used since 2002/03 where each show’s cast draws the logo
This is an absolutely amazing video, and you have done a brilliant job putting all the idents together :) It's great finding out about the background of the channels that the idents come from :) Here's to many more episodes of The Ident Review :)
100 episodes, that something to be proud of adam. That's more than even some actual tv shows. Great job adam. No matter what you do, I will always support you and your channel. Btw, I will try and get the big finish box sets featuring you.

Actually you need to know what Pick does to understand the Ident. It actually mainly shows a scattering of programmes previously shown by Sky such as Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis and others. Therefore like you said a Mishmash.
I think the reason the ITV ident's colours change is it's meant to be a reference to the 3 primary colours, orange, (which is close enough to red) blue and green.
Yep, that was the first video on MTV in the States. In Europe, it was "Money For Nothing" by Dire Straits. Which quite fittingly starts with the words "I want my MTV".
Funnily enough with the Pick ident, you say you're not sure what the channel showcased and it seemed like a mishmash... If I'm remembering correctly you've hit the nail on the head as the channel was (is?) just a mishmash of shows shown on the main sky channels but making them available on Freeview. It's mainly the traffic and ghost shows but sometimes American shows like Stargate SG-1 or Sky dramas which were originally shown months or sometimes years ago on Sky one.

All I know is that the first ten channels are BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 and Bluefrog's AMTV ident is the final one at the end of the entire video.
Very interesting video, but there was one thing you should have included, from the west side of the Pond. From the three big networks, here in the US, you showed the color program bumpers, that announced the program to follow was in color. For NBC, you showed the first version of the animated peacock, which wasn't the most popular version. The version that followed was more colorful, and the longest lasting version. That should have also been included. Overall, though, the video was quite fascinating. It's a shame you couldn't also include Canada's CBC butterfly. Keep up the great videos!

01:12:47 - God, I lived in Wales at a residential school for 3 years and I saw this shit in about 1998. My home is in East Anglia. I thought this fire stuff was fucking weird, in a good way. ....The dragon.
Hi Adam, its time to make the suggestion I wanted to make. I want to suggest on SVT1's idents from 2003 to 2008. Those were my favorite ones during my childhood. I want to include them, but do you want me to include special idents like Xmas, easter and summer and idents with tv profiles? And shall I link them here? Thx for this episode btw, made my evening!
TF1 should of actually been the first ident featured since it’s over a year older than BBC One, was the second television service to every launch, after a service that launched in Germany in either 1934 or early 1935, that permanently closedown near the end of the Second World War, and TF1 is the oldest television service still in existence. However until at least 1937 both TF1 and the television service from Germany broadcasted at resolution under 200 or 250 lines or at most about 380 lines, and were mechanical rather than fully electronic. This is unlike the BBC Television Service (now known as BBC One) which would use both the 240 mechanical television system by John Logie Baird until early 1937, and from its launch on 2nd November 1936, the 405 line television standard by Marconi-EMI which was the first fully electronic television system to be used in regular broadcasting. And NBC is the oldest television network service in the United States launching on 30th April 1939. I love your channel and your ident reviews and I hope that you keep up the great work. You deserve every success that your TH-cam channel has had over the years. Good luck in the future.
Great Video and just wandering if you have done FOX UK Idents and if not do you plan on doing them plus 5USA Idents from 2016 are better than the ones show in this video.
I feel like Cbeebies was launched before 2002 because I remember watching it as a toddler in the late 90s and early 2000s Also, I'm pretty sure it's the channel that the Teletubbies aired on in the mid 90s. This could be a Mandela effect though.
Great video for all of the idents can you do the sky sports idents through the years as a sports fan especially a football and f1 fan that would be appreciated
Fyi, RTE is pronounced or tee ee . It's in the irish language, standing for Radio (pronounced rah dee oh) telefis Eireann (radio television Ireland . ) Yes, I am irish . Spent a lot of time watching and listening to RTE television and radio growing up ! Please do a section on RTE idents.

The cbbc two ident has a CBBC Two Scotland version
best ident review
6:07, in nod to Four’s 40th year this year on the air.
Bravo!
I would like to see an Ident Review episode covering POP! channel.
The pie and ketchup 😂😂😂😂sorry I am 49 but I did laugh!
That's is the longest logo review ident ever. Nice!
Great video!

54:38 hi adam regarding your disney chanel ident i don’t know if you noticed the second hat resembling rabbit ears after being in the machine….. this would be a nod to oswald the lucky rabbit who was walt disneys original creation before he created mickey mouse, thaught i would just say and point out this easter egg in case you didn’t catch it 😊
58:26 For your convenience, this film is distributed by: CHANDRAH STAR LINE. Sit back, relax and enjoy the movie!
01:12:47 - God, I lived in Wales at a residential school for 3 years and I saw this shit in about 1998. My home is in East Anglia. I thought this fire stuff was fucking weird, in a good way. ....The dragon.
I definitely would like to see a Pop! Ident review.
I did indeed love the Red Dwarf one. 😄
Thought you might 😉
Been here since episode 2, haven't left since :)
oh and also you said RTE wrong. I can see why but it really annoys me a bit.
How do you pronounce it? I just say R-T-E
@@oinker1695 yea that's how you normally pronounce it, most of the continuity announcers say it that way
The People in ireland call it Raidio Telefis Eireann
@@NelvanaFan1971 Actually I'm Irish and I useally call it RTE 😅
Hi Adam, its time to make the suggestion I wanted to make. I want to suggest on SVT1's idents from 2003 to 2008. Those were my favorite ones during my childhood. I want to include them, but do you want me to include special idents like Xmas, easter and summer and idents with tv profiles? And shall I link them here?
Thx for this episode btw, made my evening!
Where did you get that video of that 50s woman with the tv?
Good luck in the future.
can U do TVNZ idents?
Adam Martyn, Makes the best TV Shows Ever 👌.
Congrats!
I 5hink that was just early bbc.. they had those shoes back then
Great video for all of the idents can you do the sky sports idents through the years as a sports fan especially a football and f1 fan that would be appreciated
44:03 That's not even the music or logo of 2018 rebrand! That logo was 2014-2018!
Yeah
I'm commenting in 2022 and they're showing these 2017-2018 idents again, this time with the Discovery+ plastered at the bottom.
@@laotian12innumberverse6 but in the bottom left corner.
They removed the humming in 2017
@@tvfan3390They also added an annoying shutter sound.
Hey adam, I’m wondering.. what happened to video scaries? Is it canceled?
Fyi, RTE is pronounced or tee ee . It's in the irish language, standing for Radio (pronounced rah dee oh) telefis Eireann (radio television Ireland . ) Yes, I am irish . Spent a lot of time watching and listening to RTE television and radio growing up ! Please do a section on RTE idents.
I feel that ITV 2 is a needed Ident change because 2015 has been a long time
