MEETING JACQUELINE WILSON, YORK CAT CAFE, AND FINDING JOY IN THE LITTLE THINGS (WEEKLY VLOG)

It was always my intention to vlog this week, but as many big plans were cancelled due to national mourning in the UK, this video turned into something completely different! Here's my week of finding joy in the little things in and amongst the emotional wobbles and chronic illness shenanigans, as well as a much-needed visit to The Cat's Whiskers in York. My name is Pippa Stacey and I’m a disabled writer, speaker, and communication consultant based in York. I enjoy theatre, books, and fundraising, and can most often be found wearing some form of pyjamas and drinking all the tea.
I acquired my chronic illness as a young adult and struggle daily with the challenges of living my best life alongside managing a debilitating health condition. However, I’ve finally learned that I don’t have to ‘overcome’ or ‘defy’ my illness in order to be successful, and there’s truly nobody’s path to follow but your own.

I finished The Primrose Railway Children recently and it was really lovely, although it was a proper shock to the system to see her incorporating TikTok and influencers into the story!

A mini trip away with my friend brought me joy this week. Today just playing my piano for a short time and then having a cuddle with my dogs have made me happy. Hope you’re having a good day and Jacqueline Wilson is amazing, love her books growing up so this must have been so special. Emma x

Really enjoyed this :) absolutely loved how you spoke about Jacqueline Wilson. She sounds so kind. A thing that's made me smile is I've planned to have a friend come round and do some painting with me one evening this week. I bought a kit I just saw advertised on Instagram and this will be the third friend who's painted with me, it's just so relaxing and gets us off our phones. 🥰

Just yesterday, I went shopping just for fun, with my mom and siblings. I have had a hard couple of days, and that really perked me up. It can be hard to go out when your feeling really unwell. But if I can manage going out, I feel it helps cheer me up, and can get me out of a crash. Love your style of clothing by the way. It is basically exactly how I dress!😂

I wish I could participate in decoding me, but I don’t live in the UK😭. I fully believe ME has some connection genetically, as it can be passed mother to son etc. There have also been breakouts of it in hospitals and such in the past. Which is interesting. The US needs to start taking ME seriously. The UK is light years ahead. Which is a blessing. But I hope the rest of the world realizes how awful this illness truly is as soon as possible…
