    So I have a HX Stomp with a Traynor DX212 which I really love. I just ordered an Interblock 45 and after watching this video I cannot wait to put my live rig together. I love how you showed the send before the cabinet model. So I guess this even kinda saves us a block. Good, informative video. Thank you sir !

    Try running the Send of the Stomp to the FX Return of the Quilter. Its basically a power amp at that point you won't be blending the HX amp sound with the preamp of the Quilter.

  • @Jarvis4889
    @Jarvis4889 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for this! I'm a bit confused though - your send block is going to L, which would be going to your DAW right? In that case, wouldn't you not be sending the IR cab to the DAW?

    • @samgoffenguitar

      The send is going to the Quilter amp and cab, the main out L is going to the daw with the ir cab:)

    • @samgoffenguitar
      @samgoffenguitar  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Stomp sounds better imo. The mg30 aren’t amazing. It should sound decent into a line array. If the PA is good you should be set. Many gigging musicians use the helix etc. the stomp is based on the same stuff.

    What’s the function of the EQ after the amp? Is it helping to cut unwanted frequencies? Does it help when you send a signal to a real cab???
    Thanks!

    • @samgoffenguitar
      @samgoffenguitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thx for the comment. Yep, the eq is just taking some frequencies, especially the highs. It was more about taming them for the direct feed as the real cab cuts many of those frequencies naturally whereas direct sounds and IRs sometimes just don’t so well.

    Appreciate for the video. I've stomp and I want to buy ehx 44 or moorer baby bomb 20 and 1x12 cab. Can we use them with LOW volume at home? Do I need crank it for good sound? Thank you.

    • @samgoffenguitar
      @samgoffenguitar  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hard to answer this question. Low volume guitar cabs just don’t really sound the same. I think you’ll be fine for practice volumes at home though and the advantage of these digital solutions is that if you need to be silent you can plug in headphones.

  • @TheXxjmpxxx
    @TheXxjmpxxx 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video man. I have a question tho, if you use that Send Out jack to your Quilter 45, that removes the option of using your pedalboard thru the FX Loop, correct? Isn't the Send Out jack the same jack as the FX loop Send?

    • @samgoffenguitar
      @samgoffenguitar  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Remember though that even the cheap Quilter 45 has an effects loop of it's own if you wish to add more effects in.. This also sounds amazing: th-cam.com/video/Oz8NsuQQUEQ/w-d-xo.html

    Nice video my friend! Just a question: The "amp" on HX signal patch, it's acting like a preamp? I have a Quilter as well but looking to buying a HX to have more preamp options and play live. Is it possible? Greetings from Brazil!

    • @samgoffenguitar
      @samgoffenguitar  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. You’re right in a way as there is no power amp at all in the hx. This is why we need something like the quilter to amplify the signal for the guitar cab.

      If you want to connect the HX or generally any modeller to a guitar cab, you need a power amp. Something like a Seymour Duncan Powerstage is great.

    • @samgoffenguitar
      @samgoffenguitar  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thx for the comment. In the vid I use a power amp, in this case the quilter interblock 45 to power the cab. The hx stomp doesn’t have any amp so can’t be used by itself with a cab. Other options could be the Seymour Duncan powerstage which I now use th-cam.com/video/NmkPFsHMwjw/w-d-xo.html

    • @samgoffenguitar
      @samgoffenguitar  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thx for the question Paulo. I’d go for the little quilter interblock 45 I used in this vid. It can get damn loud if you want but it’s useable at low volumes. Do research stuff though as there are more and more little pedal size amps coming out. Let us know what you go for though!

    • @samgoffenguitar
      @samgoffenguitar  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Paulo Madeira that one does look great. I’ve been hoping to get one to demo but not had the chance yet. The advantage of modern solid state amps is that they are useable at low volumes too. But not having tried one, I can’t give you a definite answer on this, sorry. I bet it’s a great piece of kit though. Get it and return within the 30 days if it’s no good?

    • @epiphonevermelha
      @epiphonevermelha 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pedals 'n' Stuff yes ... that's what i'll do. and in your opinion (considering that I only play at home at low volumes) would hx stomp + ss poweramp + real cab or hx stomp + FRFR cab be better?

    • @samgoffenguitar
      @samgoffenguitar  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Paulo Madeira tbh I play a lot at home but gig lots too. I generally use studio monitors when practicing at home but prefer a cab for volume. Unless you’re pushing plenty of air with a cab, I honestly don’t think one is better than frfr or just a good studio monitor. Just my opinion of course😁

    • @samgoffenguitar

      mikey mcdaid sry, do you mean the effects return of a tube amp? So using the Stomp into an amp using the power amp section by plugging into the effects return to get the use of the amp blocks in the Hx? If so, I’d try line, but keep volumes right down on the Hx and amp first before turning up just to be careful.
