Half cut off bourbon whiskey, sitting here, watching the smoke from my cigar whirl around in the twinkling light, I wonder, what happened. Why am I here. Why am I not cruising around the streets of Los Angeles in my 46 Lincoln Continental? Top down. Heading to my favorite club. Why am I living in 2016 and not the 40's where I belong. I wonder.....
This was the first jazz tune I ever heard when I was 13 just starting on saxophone, and it was from your video. Now I play this tune all the time at my gigs and jams. Thanks for the inspiration!
This is an awesome performance. I dream that someday I wil play like that. So here is the deal. When I see videos like this I am inspired to work harder. And when I see encourageing comments like some on here it makes me listen better. Thanks to all
I fell in love with this song years ago listening to Frank Sinatra who did a great version, then I heard this by Mattew Stone and new this song was written for the tenor sax and this version reaches down to the depths of the blues. Thank you, George Traganos
Sounds better than most well known musicians. Its two beauties at the same time - beautiful composition, beautifully played. Go on crazydaisydoo, keep the world so happy. A warm hug to you.
Matt...I think I may have been one of your very first listeners right after you signed up here. I remember your first saxophone upload, and all I can say is..."You've Come A Long Way, Baby". You're getting a nice professional sound these days. In the beginning I thought this might be a hobby you were just toying around with, but you've pleasantly surprised me with the amount of dedication and steady effort you've put into it from day one. It's clearly paying off. This is your best so far... CJ
Thanks man! This music became so important to me and my friends cause I used it as a soundtrack to my RPG campaign! It is really amazing, thank you again!
Como todas magnifico, la he escuchado un montón de veces pero hoy escribo el comentario, enhorabuena y gracias por hacernos gozar con tus interpretaciones.
Hi Matthew! We seem to love the same songs. This is another one of your great "late night jazz club" titles. You must make a CD "jazz for melancholic lovers :-) ... The new mpc sounds good.
2 Thumb Up! Angel Eyes has such a beautifully written melody. Thanks for your keeping true to the melody and just adding a bit of your own flavor. I have heard so many other versions where the actual melody gets lost by the musician because they get too absorbed into their own interpretation. That may be okay on some tunes but for me, I just personally love the melody Angel Eyes as written. Thanks again. Nice work!
This is a sublime performance! I just love jamming to it. Would you mind if I upload a video of me jamming to this on my guitar (only when I think I could do justice to this!)?
Wow! Yes, I too am inspired to practice more. Wish I could get that good a response in the low register. I tried a JJ on alto but like the VanDorens better. The VanDorens on tenor are pretty good too. Anyway, keep it coming man !
Hi, I watched you clip over 100 times, it`s so gread sound and play! Anyway, can you pls tell me where can I find that backing track? I would appreciate your help very much!!! Thanks :)
Slow and sultry are some of my favourite things. I could listen to this all day! With the mic's, is there much difference between the 2? Over here the SM57 (on sale) us 1/3 the price of the NT2a
Love your playing... it is some of the best on the tube. I love to play along with you, as I pratice. What is a good clip on mic for a tenor? Thanks CDD and keep em coming.
Sounds great. Can you name some of your influences? This is a part of music I'd love to get more familiar with, but don't know where to start out exactly.
altologist: Charles played alto saxophone - the best within the confines of any rhythm (and mood) He once substituted on tenor saxophone for the great Budd Johnson in the Earl Hinds Band. Oh, what a masterful tenor saxophonist was he! Talk about beauty! Awesome! "The best was Charlie Parker", said even Ben Webster, himself one of the most lyrical saxophonists. I know that you know better but merely want to be provocative; which is your right. What is it about the music (above) that you appreciate? Be kind enough to share your musical thoughts; won't you?
Could listen all night. Brings back a memory in a bar in Newport RI in the 70s. ❤

Man, this is where it's at. You did this song up right. I listen to it before I go to bed at night. Well done, sir!
A masterful performance! You did such a great job showing restraint - masterful restraint. So unhurried, so lyrical - excellent!
The tenor saxophone sound-voice... beautiful!
This is an awesome performance. I dream that someday I wil play like that. So here is the deal. When I see videos like this I am inspired to work harder. And when I see encourageing comments like some on here it makes me listen better. Thanks to all
