  • Singapore Chinese New Year 2024 - Bangkit Market Tour | 万吉
Unique to Bukit Panjang is Bangkit Market, a vibrant, permanent and sheltered street market where you can find all sorts of things being sold. From Chinese herbs to snacks, clothes, shoes, accessories, gadgets, fruits, household stuff, paintings etc. This market has a canopy so you’ll be able to browse the stalls, rain or shine.
The atmosphere at Bangkit Market is vibrant and lively. The market is often crowded, especially during weekends, when people come to shop, eat, and spend time with friends and family. During festive seasons or special occasions, such as Chinese New Year or Hari Raya, the market transforms into a hub of festive celebration. It becomes even more crowded with additional stalls selling festive decorations, clothing, and traditional food items.

There a lot of activities in Bangkit Market and surrounding areas and the coffeeshops are very packed in the weekend. Spent 3 hrs 20 mins to travel there and back home (100 mins each way). I hope my time spent here will be worthwhile.

These are neighbourhood markets that I like to visit during Chinese New Year. People are more relaxed and at their natural selves.

From the map, it’s ChuachuKang, river of Chua House. Demographic wise, all Singapore is like that.
    This place looks interesting.
Next time in Singapore we will ride the LRT to lunch there.
Looks like a good sell on such trip to my wife, while in Taiwan after CNY.
There’s a red dragon decorative in the video, which I have ordered via Temu.

In the 1st few days during and after CNY, Singapore is a quiet town with all shops closed, except for the Malls and places of interest. Dahlia Dreams at Gardens by the Bay, SEA Aquarium at Sentosa and Bird Paradise at Mandai will be nice places to visit if you are here during CNY. You will be fine in you come a week after CNY.

For us, everyday is CNY in Spore. HK/Taiwan/China cannot compete.
      Maybe KL/Penang/Genting…
But, the Getai culture is fast dwindling, but there are still a of Chinese things going on.
Jakarta is being influenced, they too are very international now.

We were even impressed by the wide variety of products at Bangkit Market !
Zooming in on every product and capturing the overall atmosphere in full sots, the video really conveyed a realistic experience to us.☝️✨
The video footage gives a sense of the convenience and lively sense of life of people living in HDBs at Bukit Panjang.
It seems the local Chinese New Year also becomes a unique event.

Bangkit is unique in that the stalls are permanent and changes with the occasions. As observed by you, the range of products is wide. There are also a big hawker centre and many big coffeeshops as shown in the video. A good place to visit.

The stalls in this market are permanent whereas those at pasar malams are temporary. The goods sold are also very different from other night markets. Thanks for watching, my friend.

Take Downtown Line to the terminal station at Bukit Panjang, then
      A) Take LRT - 2 stops to Pending station. Careful to get onto the correct platform at Bukit Panjang LRT. It's confusing to 1st time visitors.
      B) Take bus - 187, 190, 960 or 963
