4:15 annnnnd that’s exactly how they’ll make a profit…they have the names and they’ll get the views of all the people who miss those names but of course not the talent. They seem to be doing the HBO max way of putting out content
I can answer your question about the undrafted. Essentially they are free to fight outside of the promotion but will be available as a free agent signee should someone who is on a team not be able to compete due to injury or other reasons.
5:55 they aren’t going toe to toe with ufc in talent, they’re doing it in views with the ufcs old talent they don’t want to pay anymore. They’re slowly building themselves up with the ufcs old pool. It’s really that simple. To be quite honest the smartest thing they can do is not try to compete with the ufc but act as if they are a subsidiary of the ufc
What lead to the downfall of Eagle FC in the states was the Ukraine war happening 1 month after their US debut. It became harder for them to bring over their Russian fighters whom especially their champions.
I dont think this retirement league will be profitable they need to sign some talented pros that are on par with the ufc or they need a super trash talker like mcgregor
I think if they named and marketed this as a legends' fighting promotion it would do better. Everyone is either retired or cut from a major promo but that doesn't mean I still don't want to see some fights. What I don't want to see is fighters in their prime running over 50 year olds.
There must be a benefit to investing in failed business. There’s no way of looking at this as potential to make money. They’re paying fighters fairly out of the goodness of their heart? Big names will use this promo and move on(the irony is they dislike ufc for similar practice and they’ll all just do the same and continue fueling the ufc dominance). Ppv is dead, everyone streams so this will make no money aside from ads
Funding a organization gives prestige and credibility to public figures. Funding a traditional sports league/team costs billions funding a combat team costs millions the value is much higher

If you are over the hill and have CTE they will find you and sign you. There will be some ugly fights/finishes in this promotion I fear.
