The only thing this video is missing is the g forces you experience in this ride, and holding onto the cage bars for your life.
That makes the ride sound even more terrifying!

the G's are insane. especially when the capsule thing does like 3 flips in a row. I rode it with my sister and we're both pretty light so we had tons of flips.

my friend and I rode this and we got six consecutive flips. the cart was dusty and had "god help us" written on it.

I had 9 consecutive back flips
we did a flip BEFORE the actual ride commenced once, but only got 8 consecutive flips...

I was going on this ride thinking it wasn't going to be too bad, next thing I know, I screaming out for God and Jesus.

yeah... that was me when i was ten XD it was late at night, maybe 10:00, so they had the rides going extra fast for the bigger kids. well lets just say a few mins after i got off, my moms shoulder was covered in tears XD

Kate Acuna I lived in ocean city too. they don't close at 7. they close at 10 on weekdays and 11 on weekends. and in the 90s they used to stay open till 12 am
I love the noise the ride makes as its being operated ....the ride also looks beautiful at night!

I went on it yesterday and it was so scary I closed my eyes for the whole time lol so it's cool to see what it looks like

This video makes me shudder. I've been on one of these 3 times, and I refuse to do it anymore. the one that comes to my town is full of rust and the cage doors are basically fastened by a Bobby pin.
+theUnstoppableBuilder Well Said! Another thing I don't like about the Zipper is how the lap bar is connected to the door. I only rode one once when I was the age of 10 and I'd do it never again. That was almost 10 years ago now. :-)

Same here. The one in my town is so a rusted that you're just bound to bang your head somewhere, wither it be the door, bar, whatever!

+Emiley Tanaka I think that's because they are not seated with their back to the resting back of the ride. I actually did this too once, and I hit my head on the cage bars. I got a headache after it so I didn't ride for the rest of the day. lol. I actually do not like the newer made Zipper's, like this one that is being filmed. The older models are more roomy inside.
Someone mentioned about the R-Key lock, yeah, but that's why they made the R key because of the doors flying open with the first made models. The only thing really to worry about, is the operator. Haha. Hopefully he knows how to use the key pin!
That's nothing. Many years ago I rode a Zipper car that was full of broken glass. Some assholes had broken a couple of beer bottles in there, and I spend the whole ride with my eyes closed getting showered with this shards. It was a nightmare.
When I rode this with my sister and my cousin for the first time, we legit thought we were dead. My cousin kept telling me and my sister that he loved us. He even cried. 😂
I got sick just from watching this video. This is probably the only amusement ride I won't dare get on.

First time I went on it I was screaming "Get me off this thing" then my sister Maori said to me "ok the ride is over" She DID NOT tell me the ride goes backwards upon learning that I screamed even louder

Trust me this ride is not boring at all. I went with my friend and we were laughing at how lame this ride was from afar.
So we went on it to do our normal routine of complaining how terrible the ride we are riding is. (Yes. We are losers.)
So we were shocked because there were no seat belts, you partially sit, and they just locked us in this crammed box (It was cushioned inside). It felt terrible, I bet thats how a wild animal feels when they get caught.
Anyway we were still giggling until the ride started.....
Never again. I'd rather be on a roller coaster because at least that is scary fun. The Zipper? It was just scary and totally felt unsafe.
I went on the Zipper with my best friend 3 years ago during summer vacation and had a similar experience. I just recently went on the Millennium Force at Cedar Point and had a total blast. I can definitely agree with what you said.
Yeah, it's the one ride i want go on. I remember going to the carnival when I was growing up and sometimes there would be screws that fall out. Yup, I''ll pass.
omg, the last time i went to cedar point (in the 90's) i was too short to go on any of the rides (obviously millenium force wasn't made then), but I wan't to go back there so badly to ride all of the roller coasters.

When I was a kid in the 1960's The Zipper and The Skydiver were my "go too" rides at the fair. What great memories. Thanks for the video.
Wow, this video makes you realize how insane this ride would be if they somehow got rid of the cages and put in modern restraints. Of course, then you'd completely change the experience of the ride away from grabbing on to that handle and trying to keep your head from slamming into the cage.

not me. i found out about this ride by seeing in person at my local county fair and final riding it after years of waching it.
Hands down favorite carnival ride ever! I love the little messages people write inside and how much this ride flips you over and over
I went on one of these a long time ago and have never gotten sicker on a ride than I did on this. It was a torture I didn't want to repeat. At least this one seems smoother and in better shape than most.

If there's one ride where I will always feel terrified just watching the video then it would be the Zipper. This brings back a lot of the terror that I used to have for my youth. I've done a lot of the mega coasters but the zipper will always being the top three scariest rides in my head. This is really a great video I'm just wondering where you would mount the camera and the permissions you would need.

This is just what I was thinking too. I remember walking to the carnival when I was a kid and you could hear the noise of the zipper and all of the terrified screams for blocks. hahaha
It looks so peaceful on the outside until you are actually in it. I mean it’s fun don’t get me wrong but it’s a lot tougher than you think

I remember the second time I went on this ride was with my sister at a local carnival near my hometown. My parents were initially reluctant to let us go on it. Unbenknownst to them, I had already gone on it at the Wisconsin State Fair on a solo trip to visit my Grandparents a couple years before. When I told my Dad this, he said., "You have been on that- and you still have your stomach?!" 😄

Update: The Zipper is no longer at Trimper’s Rides. It was retired in 2019.
I like tilt a whirl and the Himalaya! Rollercoasters and super loop(which is now called ring of fire). NOT zipper! I rode it a couple times and it kept bashing my head on the bars whenever the cart spun upside down and it also felt like I was being tossed into outer space!
This makes me smile. Can’t wait to go on it tmrw!

I just went on this ride last night, and I'm one of those people who can barely handle roller coasters, so I was so nervous, but all of my friends wanted me to go, so I did. BEST👏TIME👏OF👏MY👏LIFE! It's not bad at all!! And that comes from someone who only started to like roller coasters last year (I'm 13 btw)

i rode that same zipper over the summer and i was told theyre taking it down sometime in the next year or so

Wallee there never taking the zipper away. it's one of the busiest rides at trimpers. they might replace it with a new one. but never take it away. it's been in that spot since I was young in the 80s. the only thing that changes is they get newer models
I've been on the Zipper Several Times, traveling Zippers are Common in Minnesota, we have 2 that come to the Steele County Fair each year

The best and most terrifyingly fun ride ever. I rode it twice in a row and four times in two days. It’s the best really. Definitely TERRIFYING but very fun.

This is one of the best and thrilling carnival rides. It's better than many theme park rides. My favorite carnival ride is the Flying Bobs(led) carousel/coaster. It may go by other names. I also like the Scrambler and Gravitron
