    I use a Victorinox Paring knife to cut mine. I punch my outline at regular intervals with a little screwdriver to give my self a perforated edge and then cut through
    with a knife. The back mesh I cut through with scissors. I can cut whatever shape i want this way and it is super quick to do.

    Thanks for your very helpful videos! I’m really new to this art form but I’m in love with it! I have a vision of a piece I’d like to create someday but I need more practice. My question is…….Is there any certain guidelines for determining what thickness to use with Wedi board or similar product? Thanks!

    Hello Julie! Thank You so much for all of Your videos, You have been a great help even for me - a fellow mosaicist. Wediboards are something new to me and they have been an AMAZING solution for smaller mosaics and mosaics for exhibition as I no longer have to worry about the weight of my mosaics.
    I saw at the beginning of the video that You have made a house number on a wediboard and it looked directly attached to the house's wall. So here's my question: while I have figured out the hanging system for indoor mosaics to be hanged on the walls with a mini hanger in the back, Im about to have a bigger outdoor project. Could I glue my pre-made mosaic (made on a wediboard) directly to the wall with cement/tile adhesive, or do I even for an outside wall have to come up with a hanging solution?
    Thank You in advance!! 😍

      Hi Patti! Wediboard would be a great substrate for a mandala. To cut a circle you might want to look at using a power saw instead of a retractable blade. It'll be much easier to cut that way. Keep creating and I'm glad you're here!

    Is there a way to just use styrofoam & lath or mesh tape & mix your own mortar to coat it? This wedi board is over $5 per sq ft, which adds up massively with the plans I have. I would think there must be other options to keep expenses down?? Thanks.

    Hello! I just stumbled upon your channel while researching for a project I want to do, and I've already watched most of your videos 😊. I'm new to mosaics, but I thought it could make a good insert for an antique fireplace surround. It would be used in a currently inoperable fireplace that is basically an empty shell. No liner, nothin'. I want to close it off in a 'temporarily permanent' way, because the current plan is to make the fireplace operable in the future. I think this sounds like an excellent substrate to use for this purpose, but I'm not sure what thickness to use. Do you have any recommendations you wouldn't mind sharing? The tiled area would be about 24" x 25". TIA

    • @JulieWeilbacher
      @JulieWeilbacher  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi jenone79! Welcome to the world of mosaic! 😊 Wow, sounds like a fun project! Wedi in a 1/2" - 1" thickness should be fine. I wouldn't go thinner than that. Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥
