In 1913 Albania people were divided. And Kosovo became part of Jugoslavi. Even during Tito’s Jugoslavi Kosovo was an autonomous state within Jugoslavi, then when all other states were disintegrated from FYF, Serbia started the genocide in Kosovo, and removing the rights they had in Jugosllavia, what made them fight for the liberation, and than proclamation of their independence. Serbia if it wanted could run over Kosovo in 2 days. Even Bondsteel is not a threat because it is well in range of rocket artillery. Most resistance can be eliminated in short amount of time. The problem is: what then? NATO mobilizes and while Serbia can fight on the ground for a time it can't win against NATO. And while air defence is significantly upgraded since 1999 it's still not enough against NATO's sheer numbers. And sending troops into Kosovo would probably start ww3. Better option would be to just secure the north of Kosovo and keep the Serbs there safe from Albanian terrorism. So to surmise, Kurti is not afraid of Serbian arms buildup because he is protected by NATO. And the "independent Kosova" will never be truly independent as long as it depends on foreigners for protection, money and resources. It's Basically just USA/NATO military base.
