Clarke had an every man for himself mindset. Look at the current NZ team. They actually work as a team which is why they are so widely admired and respected and have made it into the WC finals twice in the last 6 years. Clarke’s focus on individual performance and tough love technique only made the mental health and overall performance of his teammates worse. Hence why so many left the game when they still had a lot of cricket left in them.

@@HkFinn83india had the greatest players after 2008 post the retirement of all Aussie legends like Gilchrist, Hayden, Warne, Langer, McGrath etc. how many world cups do they have since 2008? Just the 1! It's about the mentality more than it is about skill.. india in the 2007 world cup lost to Bangladesh.. Bangladesh were minnows. Why? Because they don't have the champion mentality.. till date ( that is 2023) they're still dwelling on 1 world cup win in 2011.. they made a biopic movie on their captain over 1 win mate😂😂 the Aussies have now won 6 and they don't really care.. they come in and they destroy teams, and go back to having beer and relaxing😂😂

Clarke was one of our best on field skippers ever who made sublime bowling and fielding changes and his declarations were brilliant but he was disliked by a lot of players - Hussey pulled the pin after Clarke demanded Huss attend a Sydney cruise piss on party even though Huss’s family had just flown into Sydney. He upset Katich to the point Kat had him up against a wall and he also pissed Watson off. The common thread was your career was over over if you got on Clarke’s wrong side. Clarke was an effing JERK
