It would seem to me that this little guy could use a decent de-burring of the threads and two well placed gaskets, one where the burrs beet the chassis and the other where the grind catch meets the burr holder to prevent slipping. Great video! Minus the retention and sharp edges this really does seem like a solid contender in the hand grind game!

Yeah man for sure!
I do like how the outer burrs are removable, just makes cleaning so much more of an enjoyable experience.
But yeah also for this price point of grinders I would say that it is a good contender, definitely an upgrade from something like the Timemore C2.

I am a noob to manual coffee grinders and have a question: Wouldn't it be simpler and far quicker to just disassemble the grinder and run all the parts under tap water and then leave them to dry, after which re-assemble them back together? Also, what about using dish soap and washing them with it?

No, don't do this.
You run the risk of a very rusty squeaky grinder.
Coffee grinders + Water never a really good mix

Nice video!!! I own one of these and I usually use the girlfriend make-brush with the fine bristles for cleaning instead the original one, game-changing!!
I wonder If there’s a way we can remove the outer round burr from the case @9:20 in case we like to upgrade or repair the burr set? I’ve been struggling with this and it’s the only complaint so far compared with the Timemore, 😅

Hmm i'm not too sure whether you can remove this part of the burr set.
I know it is much easier to remove on the Timemore C2.
It might be worth sending Varia a message and they can help you with this, they are fairly active on instagram :)
