I love how BF switches through animations, and I didn't notice before. I also love the subtle harmonizing you can hardly hear between Yourself and Herself.
I don't even like this game but this single song is the only thing about it that interests me. I just commented to say that i was absolutely shocked when i realized that the "stay awake just long enough to see" is not only about death, but also about how divide died in his sleep, portraying sleep as death and staying awake as a last effort.

From the concept art. It seems to show the shirt tugging is to hold in his anger. I wouldn’t be surprised if this anger is to himself, BF, or both of them for being fools (Yourself letting Herself die and BF being cocky and not realizing what will happen if he stays like that)
Fun fact: Boyfriend is canonically pretty tall (7 foot tall), and he's just drawn small by Phantom Arcade to represent his innocence in contrast to characters like Daddy Dearest. So understand that Silly Billy or whoever this guy is happens to be a Boyfriend who LACKS that innocence, considering his size.

I want to see a show where the villain is over powered but the Hero realizes the villain was right, and then becomes worse than the villain so the rest of the show is from the villain's perspective as the hero being so cruel causes the villain to start to side with the hero's original perspective. The villain goes from OP to insignificant in a matter of moments.

Yourself rly is tragic; he's smiling the entire time until the line about making Herself proud of him. Literally tugging at his own heart and going so hard he shatters the glass behind him, but when she finally responds and sings with him, he drowns it out because that's just how far he had to go to reach her in the first place, pretty well affirmed by the purple that becomes more vivid when she starts singing (literally combination of bf and gfs blue and red) fades just into blue as that section comes to a stop.

Churgegy Does Not Miss. I haven't really heard a song of his the fails to hit it's appeal, I've heard plenty of others that are good but have major flaws that take away their unique aspects becoming bland as a result. Churgegy gives it emotion, which then applies what the songs should be about mainly: Giving a feeling. Though while there should be unique ones aslong it gets you to care about it in way I'd say It's a good song.

Other way around, the leitmotif used in Subterfuge was actually from this song. Notice that Honkish was part of the team for composing it. The melody was made for this song, and then repurposed as a sly reference in Subterfuge.

I was a bit skeptical of this song, as I have always felt that the quality of mods has dropped over time, but this genuinely gives me chills. Even past the part everyone gives attention, the song itself is catchy and emotional. Everyone who worked on this (and Hit Single itself) really outdid themselves. I know the lyric section is Yourself's message to Herself, but you could also interpret it as a message to Divide. Divide died before he got to see his character in action. The lyrics make me thinks that this "faker" isn't inherintley evil, just desperate to be recognized as a star by its own idol and become its own person but still fails. But I may be overthinking again. God I can't stop replaying the lyric part.

The atmosphere for this is so wonderfully charged in all kinds of ways. Yourself captures a lot of BF's usual energy, but even beyond looks something's very clearly snapped in his mind. The smile is either forced to try and keep things light, or a default position for his face that betrays the maelstrom welling up in him. He's lost any kind of restraint he has in his posture and poses in an effort to capture your eye. All that being said, it feels like Yourself isn't outright trying to be hostile so much as he is desperately trying to change course, either by making sure BF never has to see his girl die like he did, or by taking over BF's life to do it himself. It gives off the feeling that all he wants to do is make the suffering and heartbreak worth SOMETHING, otherwise he chased a tainted dream that cost him everything, including his love, for literally nothing.

I don't think Yourself wants to take Bfs life and keep his GF for himself, it just wouldn't really feel the same. Sure their the same person but it be like losing a dog you loved with every fiber of your being that was taken from you too early and someone gives you a similar dog, same breed, and expect you to be better because you have something to fill the void in your heart, but you could never love a pet as much. Sure you can love this new dog. But nothing will ever replace your previous pet. No matter how hard you try to lie to yourself about it. So I would believe Yourself is just wanting to warn BF that he's needing to lose his cocky attitude and appreciate the time he has with GF, as their is no telling when one is taken from the other.
5:37 I absolutely love how different the energy in this last part is compared to the rest of the song. The blue notes, lack of hp bar, and the quieter instrumental really gives the impression that Yourself is on his last legs. It’s like after his emotional high all that’s left is a guy filled with grief and anguish who is trying SO HARD to keep it together

Just a quick thing: Notice how the red colors of both versions of Boyfriend disappear after the lyrical part, and, given the context of this song being that Girlfriend passed away in Yourself’s and ( I think ) the main Boyfriend’s world ( Yourself being the tall Boyfriend ) I feel like the red disappearing symbolizes both of the Boyfriends moving on, the main one realizing that there is still meaning in rap battles post Girlfriend, and Yourself feeling like he has finally made Girlfriend truly proud and, therefore, feels that he’s finally come to peace with Girlfriend’s death.

I think its actually a bit different. I think yourself represents giving into grief and using validation to try and escape that pain. Boyfriend represents confrontation of those feelings, choosing to stay strong, and the desire to move on. He's still affected as you can see with his expression being a bit more serious and his colors being faded, but at his core, he's still himself, and he's still trying.
Alternatively, it could also represent how much Yourself misses his girlfriend after her death. You know the adage that life loses all of its color? Since Girlfriend and Herself tend to be represented with the color Red, that color completely disappears during the lyric section. After Herself’s death, Yourself’s world became much less colorful…

the fact that this was basically the last BIG fnf mod update before the main update came out, is really beautiful. It really does feel like a perfect final send off, with how long it is, the characters, the music itself, and the fact that some of this song, if not all of it is dedicated to divide, is truly just.. beautiful. I like to think that this really is the true final song for fnf modding. after everything that BF has been through, it all traces back to him. Truly a wonderful sendoff, even though it wasnt supposed to be.
fr, it's almost poetic, like a triple tribute to divide and sonic.exe, fnf and it's community/fandom, and inlore, a tribute to herself, it's almost kinda beautiful ngl.
i'm so glad this mod isn't just edgy for the sake of being edgy; it's about grief, not being able to move on from a loved one passing away, and the depression and sometimes anger that comes from feeling that way. not only that, its extremely well drawn and the music is amazing. i love the little touches like the notes reflecting into the mirror when yourself sings, and the microphone flashing red and being able to see girlfriend surrounding yourself in the singing section. this might be the best mod i've seen yet, i would play it but i have a mac, so watching gameplay will do for now.

@@vr_lottle1 I kind of think so. Something about the common notes of each section, and the _tone_ of those parts, convey _some_ kind of different emotion. Like how they sing in unison at the end, having come to an understanding. Or how they do so sporadically throughout the song. The way it turns into back & forth. I'm honestly amazed how much subtext the creator put in a song full of beeps and, like, four lines of lyrics.
I'd go even further into what is being discussed in the comments. It isnt that he lacks innocence, *innocence was forcibly taken from him* . With the passing of Girlfriend, reality was forced into him. He had to deal with it, but he couldn't. Reality tore him apart from the inside out, leading him to no longer care about his appearance because Girlfriend was no longer there to look at him. However, his memory of Girlfriend and his longing for her was the only tether he had to that once innocent part of him. He can put on a very flawed, barely presentable image of what he used to be (evidenced by how he can take on a very ragged persona of his innocent self [small version]) that if anyone even payed a bit of attention, would realize that it was just a façade. The only reason why his body still hasn't fallen apart is because hes holding himself together, just barely, to keep that last piece of himself he gave Girlfriend. He longs to hear her tell him that shes so proud of how long hes continued. That every step he takes in what pretty much amounts to a husk of his former self is a triumph. He wants her, wherever she may be, to see that she was never wrong in loving him, someone who is capable to keep from sinking into the abyss for so long. He continues because his body *subconsciously* recognizes a sound that sounds like Girlfriend, but he, himself, cannot actually interpret that it is her. It's like being flashbanged; Your vision is blurred, you can barely make out someone talking to you but you can see their lips moving, so your brain *knows* they are saying something, you just cant actually hear them. Girlfriend lingers both due to his frantic love and relentless desire to hold onto the memories they shared so she inhabits the very object that hes poured his passions into. She hugs and tries to whisper to him whenever he raises his mic, at the peaks of his emotion, trying to tell him exactly what he needs to hear, but it is lost as very faint background vocals.

I think of it as a representation of how it feels to not receive the proper love and care you needed as a child. Therefore it manifests as an adult into someone who needs validation or resents all forms of it.
I think that may be looking into it a bit much as this is an already established character, but I can't discredit your line of thinking because you can see many, many examples of that in real life

I was a bit skeptical of this song, as I have always felt that the quality of mods has dropped over time, but this genuinely gives me chills. The atmosphere for this is so wonderfully charged in all kinds of ways. Yourself captures a lot of BF's usual energy, but even beyond looks something's very clearly snapped in his mind. The smile is either forced to try and keep things light, or a default position for his face that betrays the maelstrom welling up in him. He's lost any kind of restraint he has in his posture and poses in an effort to capture your eye.
All that being said, it feels like Yourself isn't outright trying to be hostile so much as he is desperately trying to change course, either by making sure BF never has to see his girl die like he did, or by taking over BF's life to do it himself. It gives off the feeling that all he wants to do is make the suffering and heartbreak worth SOMETHING, otherwise he chased a tainted dream that cost him everything, including his love, for literally nothing.

Sure you can love this new dog. But nothing will ever replace your previous pet. No matter how hard you try to lie to yourself about it. 5:37 I absolutely love how different the energy in this last part is compared to the rest of the song. The blue notes, lack of hp bar, and the quieter instrumental really gives the impression that Yourself is on his last legs. It’s like after his emotional high all that’s left is a guy filled with grief and anguish who is trying SO HARD to keep it together

Just a quick thing: Notice how the red colors of both versions of Boyfriend disappear after the lyrical part, and, given the context of this song being that Girlfriend passed away in Yourself’s and ( I think ) the main Boyfriend’s world ( Yourself being the tall Boyfriend ) I feel like the red disappearing symbolizes both of the Boyfriends moving on, the main one realizing that there is still meaning in rap battles post Girlfriend, and Yourself feeling like he has finally made Girlfriend truly proud and, therefore, feels that he’s finally come to peace with Girlfriend’s death.
also note that during the played section of the lyrical section, the notes are EXCLUSIVELY red and blue and do not appear as any other color until the solo ends.
I think its actually a bit different. I think yourself represents giving into grief and using validation to try and escape that pain. Boyfriend represents confrontation of those feelings, choosing to stay strong, and the desire to move on. He's still affected as you can see with his expression being a bit more serious and his colors being faded, but at his core, he's still himself, and he's still trying.
Alternatively, it could also represent how much Yourself misses his girlfriend after her death. You know the adage that life loses all of its color? Since Girlfriend and Herself tend to be represented with the color Red, that color completely disappears during the lyric section.
After Herself’s death, Yourself’s world became much less colorful…

the fact that this was basically the last BIG fnf mod update before the main update came out, is really beautiful. It really does feel like a perfect final send off, with how long it is, the characters, the music itself, and the fact that some of this song, if not all of it is dedicated to divide, is truly just.. beautiful. I like to think that this really is the true final song for fnf modding. after everything that BF has been through, it all traces back to him. Truly a wonderful sendoff, even though it wasnt supposed to be.

i'm so glad this mod isn't just edgy for the sake of being edgy; it's about grief, not being able to move on from a loved one passing away, and the depression and sometimes anger that comes from feeling that way. not only that, its extremely well drawn and the music is amazing.
i love the little touches like the notes reflecting into the mirror when yourself sings, and the microphone flashing red and being able to see girlfriend surrounding yourself in the singing section. this might be the best mod i've seen yet, i would play it but i have a mac, so watching gameplay will do for now.

@@vr_lottle1 I kind of think so. Something about the common notes of each section, and the _tone_ of those parts, convey _some_ kind of different emotion. Like how they sing in unison at the end, having come to an understanding. Or how they do so sporadically throughout the song. The way it turns into back & forth.
I'm honestly amazed how much subtext the creator put in a song full of beeps and, like, four lines of lyrics.

It isnt that he lacks innocence, *innocence was forcibly taken from him* . With the passing of Girlfriend, reality was forced into him. He had to deal with it, but he couldn't. Reality tore him apart from the inside out, leading him to no longer care about his appearance because Girlfriend was no longer there to look at him. However, his memory of Girlfriend and his longing for her was the only tether he had to that once innocent part of him. He can put on a very flawed, barely presentable image of what he used to be (evidenced by how he can take on a very ragged persona of his innocent self [small version]) that if anyone even payed a bit of attention, would realize that it was just a façade.
The only reason why his body still hasn't fallen apart is because hes holding himself together, just barely, to keep that last piece of himself he gave Girlfriend. He longs to hear her tell him that shes so proud of how long hes continued. That every step he takes in what pretty much amounts to a husk of his former self is a triumph. He wants her, wherever she may be, to see that she was never wrong in loving him, someone who is capable to keep from sinking into the abyss for so long.
He continues because his body *subconsciously* recognizes a sound that sounds like Girlfriend, but he, himself, cannot actually interpret that it is her. It's like being flashbanged; Your vision is blurred, you can barely make out someone talking to you but you can see their lips moving, so your brain *knows* they are saying something, you just cant actually hear them.
Girlfriend lingers both due to his frantic love and relentless desire to hold onto the memories they shared so she inhabits the very object that hes poured his passions into. She hugs and tries to whisper to him whenever he raises his mic, at the peaks of his emotion, trying to tell him exactly what he needs to hear, but it is lost as very faint background vocals.

I think of it as a representation of how it feels to not receive the proper love and care you needed as a child. Therefore it manifests as an adult into someone who needs validation or resents all forms of it.

4:57 I don't think enough people talk about how beautifully the voice matches the pitch and streght of the mirror shattering behind him, also the fact that once the mirror shatters the whole stage turns darker and stays like that until the end (mirror shattered and everything) as if even if just a reflection or an abstract creation his powers (or his version of gf's powers) can affect still affect our world

what an absolutely fucking incredible way to give justice to a character made by someone who was taken from us way too soon. This mod is already amazing enough on its own, but knowing who made the character makes it all the more impactful. Astounding work from everyone involved. made my eyes get a little moist. What a great fucking sendoff to someones legacy.
