the world is being too soft on the kids. if you suck you need to know you suck and you need to learn ways to improve. back in my day no grades were handed to us.. i don't believe in participation trophies lol i don't get a raise just cause i go to work everyday... also.. if a teacher sees you're trying, they really will help (most of the time) cause I have some stories let me tell ya 🤣 we need to be more harder on the youth.

I agree with you about the family part, my blood brother is a total scum bag doesnt care for anyone in the family , doesnt acknowledge our mom, did wrong to multiple ppl in my family including our mom, including myself .... So your 100% right you could definitely pick your family cause he is now deaded. No one in the family fks w him no more. I have friends i grew up w that are more of a brother to me than my own blood brother.

That might be a thing in new jersey but in California you still have to do work to even get to 50% but I do have a friend that goes to a private school and they got a thing called bosco 50 so they can’t go no lower they 50%
As someone who played high school football, I can say that you may not always get that chance you’re hoping for no matter how much work you put in ,I showed up to practice us early. I was one of the last people to leave every single day, but it didn’t matter coaches play favorites it didn’t matter how much work I put in I never got my shot. I never got that chance to actually show what I can do for reference. I am 6’2 ,at this time I weighed around 160 and they had me play offensive line sometimes it doesn’t matter how good you are or how much work you put in you may never get your chance💯😊

Every school system is different I’m sure there are some who are doing that with grades, but I worked in the school
System for 28 yrs, in Connecticut,and idk about now ? I could find out , it was only kids who had a individual education program or IEP who got treatment that was different from the regular Ed kids, not saying it’s right , but until something changes , this is the way it is unfortunately

It's wild to hear that a person doesn't have to show up for classes and get a 50%. The participation awards for everyone have gotten out of control in our society.
Not sure if someone else already commented this but when I was in school (was in highschool from 2010-2014 so not too long ago lol) we had a 7 point grading scale so 93-100=A, 85-92=B, 77-84=C, 69-76=D, and 68 and below F. Honestly by senior year you got used to it so when I got to college it actually felt less hard than my highschool was so in the long run I was grateful for it lol. And most teachers were also super cool so they would bump you to a C if you stayed after class and made a effort to try and were respectful which also prepared me for having to do extra work when college came so yeah this new generation who gets everything handed to them are not prepared for adulthood and having to work for what you want in life but they will learn the hard way I guess haha

Blame soft parents who blame teachers and schools for poor grades. Back in my day, if I came home with a bad grade, it was my fault and I was held accountable by my parents. It seems like today, when a child comes home with a poor grade or a bad situation at school, the parents blame the teacher. I hear that far too often from my friends who are teachers. It will always start at home.
